*She is the second parent of a protagonist to have a physical appearance in the GTA series, after [[Janet Vance]].

*Adriana is the only mission boss in TBoGT not to appear outside of cutscenes.

*It is very possible that Luis' mother was based on Tony Montana's mother, Georgina Montana, from the movie ''Scarface. ''They are both from Hispanic speaking countries (Adriana being from Dominican Republic, and Georgina Montana from Cuba), they both criticize their son's criminal lifestyle (Adriana with Luis, and Mrs. Montana with Tony), they both are struggling financially, and they both have daughters who have healthy relationships with their sons (Leta Lopez-Wilkinson with Luis, and Gina Montana with Tony.) Not to mention they also wear similar outfits.

— Adriana Yanira Lopez

Adriana Yanira Lopez is a character in the Grand Theft Auto series who appears as a supporting character in The Ballad of Gay Tony. She is a Dominican woman who resides in Northwood, and is the mother of Luis Fernando Lopez, Leta Lopez-Wilkinson and Ernesto Lopez.

She was voiced by Lucia Armendariz.

History

Background

Adriana is something of a mother to Luis' close friends Armando Torres and Henrique Bardas. Her ex-husband joined the Marine Corps, then ran out on her while two of her children went off to start families. She constantly tells Luis to go back to school and leave behind the guns, drugs, and money-fueled nightclub life, but when Luis gives her the money that comes with it, she doesn't hesitate to accept it, making her something of a hypocrite.

Events of The Ballad of Gay Tony

During the cutscene of the mission Clocking Off, Luis confronts her about her hypocrisy, to which she hopelessly responds "What choice do I have? I lost my job!", to which Luis replies with "Then call one of your other kids for money. The ones you ain't ashamed of." These words leave her feeling guilty after Luis leaves the house.

Personality

She is shown to be rather naïve, as Armando, now a drug dealer, has her convinced that he is going to college (as she wants Luis to do) and, as Luis tells Mori Kibbutz during Kibbutz Number One, she once lost a great deal of money in an investment scam. She believes that Mr. Santo (a loan shark who lent her money to keep her home) is a "nice man" after he subtly threatens to burn her apartment down, and forces Luis to go back to cage fighting to repay her debt.

Luis' mother does love her children, though she can be hard on Luis. Similar to Tony Montana's mother from Scarface, both are ashamed of their sons criminal past. However, she does feel guilty when her son criticize her for her behavior and calls her out on her hypocrisy.
