The only way to gain access inside the prison is to use a helicopter or to use an ambulance or truck to jump over the wall. In multiplayer mode the player can drive through the entrance into the grounds. There are no guards or inmates in multiplayer mode.

Alderney State Correctional Facility

The Alderney State Correctional Facility is a prison in south Alderney in Grand Theft Auto IV. It is programmed in the game to also be it's own area, not administrated by Acter Industrial Park which encloses it. It appears to be a medium security prison, as there are many armed guards patrolling the area, barbed wire fences and guard towers. It is not a maximum or supermax security prison, as such facilities are not located in or near most major cities. It overlooks the West River and Algonquin. Even though the gates are heavily guarded, there are no missions involving prison breaks. Niko Bellic won't receive any wanted star levels if he enters the prison unless he shoots or hits an inmate or guard.
The only known inmate is Gerald McReary (Currently Serving). Billy Grey also did time there before The Lost Brotherhood broke in during the mission Get Lost. Aiden O'Malley was supposed to be transferred there but was rescued and then executed in the mission Tunnel of Death. Gerald McReary received a lengthy sentence for various charges including raketeering and armed robbery. Billy Grey was, most likely, in for a parole violation and possible possesion of illegal firearm when he's arrested in the mission This Shit's Cursed. Aiden O'Malley was likely going to be transferred there on charges of grand larceny.

The only way to gain access inside the prison is to use a helicopter or to use an ambulance or truck to jump over the wall. In multiplayer mode the player can drive through the entrance into the grounds. There are no guards or inmates in multiplayer mode.

Trivia

  • It doesn't have a death penalty.
  • The guards are violent and force the prisoners to vote yes on re-instating the death penalty.
  • Prisoners appear to be forced to clean the courtyards of the facility.
  • During the mission Get Lost, the prison alarm is different to the normal alarm.

Episodes from Liberty City

In The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, entering the facility will give you a three-star wanted level and the facility's alarm going off. This does not happen in the original GTA IV.
