Android is an operating system based on the Linux kernel, and designed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers. Initially developed by Android, Inc., which Google backed financially and later bought in 2005, Android was unveiled in 2007 along with the founding of the Open Handset Alliance: a consortium of hardware, software, and telecommunication companies devoted to advancing open standards for mobile devices. The first Android phone (HTC Dream) was sold in October 2008. Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition was the first GTA game to be released on Android Devices, then Grand Theft Auto:Vice City: 10 Year Anniversary Edition was the second GTA game to be released on Android devices. Recently Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was released, making it the third GTA game to be released on Android.[1] On December 17, 2014, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars was released, being the fourth GTA game to be released on Android.

Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition

Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition was released for Android devices on December 15th, 2011. The year 2011 marks the tenth year since Grand Theft Auto III was released. The game is essentially a port of Grand Theft Auto III with updated textures and resolution. Otherwise, there are no other obvious changes. Due to the Android lacking physical buttons, the developer of the port, War Drum Studios, supplies on-screen touch controls which can be remapped, however unlike the iOS devices the player can use a USB game-pad.[2]
