Android is an operating system based on the Linux kernel, and designed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers. Initially developed by Android, Inc., which Google backed financially and later bought in 2005, Android was unveiled in 2007 along with the founding of the Open Handset Alliance: a consortium of hardware, software, and telecommunication companies devoted to advancing open standards for mobile devices. The first Android phone (HTC Dream) was sold in October 2008. Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition was the first GTA game to be released on Android Devices, then Grand Theft Auto:Vice City: 10 Year Anniversary Edition was the second GTA game to be released on Android devices. Recently Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was released, making it the third GTA game to be released on Android.[1]

Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition

Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition was released for Android devices on December 15th, 2011. The year 2011 marks the tenth year since Grand Theft Auto III was released. The game is essentially a port of Grand Theft Auto III with updated textures and resolution. Otherwise, there are no other obvious changes. Due to the Android lacking physical buttons, the developer of the port, War Drum Studios, supplies on-screen touch controls which can be remapped, however unlike the iOS devices the player can use a USB game-pad.[2] The game supports: HTC Rezound, LG Optimus 2x, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Photon 4G, Samsung Galaxy R, Samsung Galaxy S II, Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Salaxy S4 Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, T-Mobile G2x, Galaxy Nexus, Google Nexus 4, Droid Bionic, DROID RAZR,Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Dell Streak 7, LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, Google Nexus 7, Google Nexus 10, Sony Tablet S, Toshiba Thrive, Medion Lifetab and Asus Transformer Prime.[3]

Grand Theft Auto Vice City: 10 Year Anniversary Edition for Android devices on December 6th, 2012. The year 2012 marks the tenth year since Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was released. The game is essentially a port of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City with updated textures and resolution. Rockstar announced that it would include "native high-resolution graphics and several enhancements unique to the iOS and Android platforms including updated character models and lighting effects, new and more precise firing and targeting options, a fully customizable control layout and native support for retina display devices". And unlike iOS devices game can be played with USB game-pads The game was supported on Motorola Atrix, Motorola Atrix HD, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Photon, HTC Rezound, HTC One X, HTC One X+, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Samsung Galaxy R, Samsung Epic 4G, Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy S4, Google Nexus 4, Sony Xperia Play, Sony Xperia Sola, Sony Xperia S / P / T & TL, Sony Walkman Z Series Media Player, Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime, Asus Transformer Pad TF300T, Asus Transformer Pad Infinity 700, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 / 7.7 / 8.9 & 10.1, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, Sony Tablet S, Sony Tablet P, Sony Xperia Tablet S, Toshiba Thrive, Toshiba Regza, Google Nexus 7, Google Nexus 10 and Fujitsu Stylistic 10.1.[4]
