The Assault Shotgun, based on the Cobray Street Sweeper, is a shotgun featured in the downloadable episodic pack The Lost and Damned for Grand Theft Auto IV. It is a fully automatic shotgun that can easily pierce through enemies and destroy vehicles (even low-flying choppers), with 8 shells per magazine (The real life counterpart holding 12 shells per magazine). It first appears in the mission Heavy Toll when Johnny Klebitz, along with Malc and DeSean, stop a convoy and steals a van full of cocaine. It can be purchased from Terry's gun van and will spawn at the player's safehouses after completing both the mission Heavy Toll and 40 gang wars.
Trivia
- Clay will equip the Assault Shotgun when he becomes hardened enough.
- The Assault Shotgun shown in-game is based on the SWD/Cobray Street Sweeper, (Also known as the DAO-12, or Armsel Striker) however the real-life Street Sweeper is actually semi-automatic. The Assault Shotgun behaves more like a real-life AA-12, a fully-automatic shotgun that is featured in The Ballad of Gay Tony as the Automatic Shotgun, although it is not fully automatic.
- If the player blind fires with the Assault Shotgun he will be seen "pumping" the weapon after every shot is fired, even if there is no pump on the shotgun. This also limits the blindfiring speed to the Pump Action Shotgun as it uses the same animation. This glitch applies to all the shotguns.
