I'm tired of smoking, I'm tired of crack and I'm tired of doing your fucking housework! I'm free!
Big Bear to B Dup as he punches him in the face.

Beat Down on B Dup is a mission in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas given to protagonist Carl Johnson by Grove Street Families leader Sean "Sweet" Johnson from his mother's house in Grove Street, Ganton, Los Santos, San Andreas.

Mission[]

Carl drops by the Johnson House and sees his brother, Sweet, about to smoke crack that one of B Dup's crack whores gave him, believing that drugs have destroyed the Families, so he may as well let them destroy him too. Carl convinces Sweet not to do it and the crack whore tells him that he will have to deal with B Dup. Infuriated, Carl throws the girl out, saying he'll deal with him right now. Carl and Sweet head over to B Dup's house in Ganton.

A basehead sitting besides the door informs them that B Dup no longer lives there and that he has moved to Glen Park (the heart of Kilo Tray Ballas territory). Carl and Sweet head to Glen Park, start a gang war and successfully take it over. They then kill B Dup's guards and head inside.

Upon entering B Dup's house, B Dup claims that he was threatened and had no choice and claims that the order came from Big Smoke, now paranoid about competition and hidden away. B Dup says that only Big Smoke's trusted lieutenants know where he's hiding. After Sweet threatens to kill him anyway, B Dup calls his "crack slave" Big Bear and orders him to kill both Sweet and Carl. Big Bear angrily tells B Dup that he's tired of smoking crack and doing his housework and punches B Dup. He asks Carl if he can rejoin the Grove Street Families. They agree, and Sweet takes Big Bear to rehab in an Infernus.

Mission Objectives[]

In order to complete the mission the player must:

  • Get to B Dup's house
  • Go to Glen Park
  • Attack the Ballas and take over their territory
  • Kill B Dup's Guards
  • Go and confront B Dup

Reward[]

The reward for completing this mission is an increase in respect and the mission Grove 4 Life is unlocked.

Sweet is in his house with one of B Dup's crack whores who tries to convince him to smoke crack.
Whore: Just a little bit of party. I heard you was down. So I got a gift from B Dup.
Sweet: Come on now, I can't do that.
Whore: C'mon, Sweet, come on - make sure you enjoy this. This is a rich man's high. All the players are doin' it. I know you're gonna enjoy this. It takes the pain away...
Sweet: Oh, yeah?
As Sweet is about to smoke crack, Carl arrives just in time to stop him.
CJ: Oh, what the hell you doin'!?
Sweet: Shit. Man, everything is caine, caine, caine. Man, I just wanna see what's so good.
CJ: What's wrong with you, man?
Sweet: Man, this shit already destroyed the whole 'hood. I... I might as well let it destroy me, too.
CJ: Man, you don't need that shit, Sweet.
Sweet: What do you know about this? THIS is what it boils down to now.
Whore: Come on, Sweet. Toke the smoke.
CJ: Hey, man, that shit'll steal your heart. You can't see that? This bitch talks nice to you and this is what you do?
Sweet: Aw, fuck this!
Whore: You're going to have to deal with B Dup.
CJ: What? B DUP? We can handle that shit right now, man. Get your ass outta here. Bitch!
CJ angrily pushes the whore out of the house. CJ and Sweet then drive to B Dup's house.
CJ: What were you thinking back there, bro?
Sweet: I'm tired, man, I'm real tired. Tired of putting the work in and still shit don't get better. Tired of seeing my family fall apart.
CJ: Sweet, man, you got more heart than that. Sure things are screwed up now, but we fittin' to turn a corner, man. The day is comin' when the Johnson family will be at the top. And it's coming real soon.
Sweet: I hear you, CJ, you're there for us, I know that.
CJ and Sweet arrive at B Dup's house, where a basehead is sitting down idly near the door.
CJ: Hey, B Dup! Open up!
Sweet: B Dup!
CJ: Hey, open the door, punk!
Sweet: Fool!
Basehead: Yo, Dup ain't here. Moved out a while back.
CJ and Sweet confront the basehead.
Sweet: Where'd he go, dickhead?
Basehead: Yo yo yo, you're messing up a cat's colors, dude!
Sweet: Speak up, fool!
Basehead: Yo, I got something, a little something, just what you need...
Sweet: I don't want none of that shit! (furiously attempts to shoot the basehead) I oughta split your wig right now!
CJ: Sweet, no, you trippin', you trippin', man - c'mon, put the gun down! He a base-head, man!
Sweet: Shit. He wearing Family colors, that's supposed to make him somebody.
CJ: (to the basehead) Look, fool, tell us where B Dup is, and we outta here.
Basehead: He lives over Glen Park way - his boy always there, give a cat what he needs.
CJ shoves the basehead.
CJ: You're lucky.
CJ and Sweet leave B Dup's old house, and drive to B Dup's new house in Glen Park.
CJ: Oh man, Glen Park!
Sweet: Heart of Kilo Trays country.
CJ: Fuck it, I'm down, and that fool had it coming too long. We'll take the whole neighborhood apart!
Sweet: Yeah - let's roll.
CJ and Sweet arrive at Glen Park.
Sweet: Hit those Ballas hard!
CJ: Johnson boys rollin' through!
CJ and Sweet take over Glen Park by taking out Ballas in a gang war.
Sweet: OK, the neighborhood's sewed up now.
CJ: No sign of B Dup though, dog.
Sweet: Check that place over there.
CJ and Sweet take out the Ballas guarding B Dup's house. They go inside and confront B Dup.
Sweet: Say something!
B Dup: Hey, hey, no! I had no choice. I was threatened! Shit came from the boss, homie!
Sweet: What!?
CJ: Pop this motherfucker, man. I'm tired of hearing his bullshit.
B Dup: No, man! I'm sorry, dog - Smoke's fuckin' crazy. He's paranoid - just sits in the house, thinking other fools want his business!
Sweet: Huh!?
CJ: Where's Smoke?
B Dup: I can't tell you that.
Sweet: Then I'll snatch your fucking tongue out!
B Dup: Man. I ain't saying nothing, homie, 'cause I don't know! Only his lieutenants know where he's at!
Sweet: (tosses B Dup to the floor) I oughta wet your shit anyway!
As Sweet threatens to kill B Dup, the latter calls out his crack slave Big Bear.
B Dup: Bear! Hey, Bear! Get the fuck out here!
Big Bear comes out.
Big Bear: What's up, your lordship?
B Dup: Kill these motherfuckers and I'll give you a whole quarter sack. Now handle that.
Big Bear stares at CJ and Sweet, but barely confronts them.
B Dup: Shoot them! What the fuck is wrong with you? You ain't hear what the fuck I said?
Big Bear turns on B Dup.
Big Bear: I'm tired of smoking,
B Dup: Bear, what the fuck you doing?
Big Bear: I'm tired of crack,
B Dup: Come on, man.
Big Bear: and I'm tired of doing your fucking housework.
Big Bear angrily punches B Dup.
Big Bear: (not in the subtitles) I'm free!
B Dup: Oh, shit! Man, what the fuck you do that for, man?
Big Bear: CJ, man, c'mon, put me back on the team. Gimme twenty bucks, and I'm all yours, man. Blast from the past.
CJ: Hey, let's take a ride, homie - I'm gonna shoot you somewhere you're gonna enjoy.
CJ and Sweet take Big Bear outside.
Sweet: I got Bear's back, man!.
CJ: A'ight. I'll see you in a minute Bear!
Big Bear: Where we going, Sweet?
Sweet: Someplace where we can get old Bear back!
Big Bear: A'ight. I'm down for that...
Sweet takes Big Bear to rehab in an Infernus.

Glitches[]

  • If the player has already taken over Glen Park, a glitch may occur in which no Ballas spawn to attack in the area. It may be necessary to go beyond Glen Park and make Ballas members chase Carl back, or Ballas members can sometimes be located driving around the area, and if they're removed from their vehicles by carjacking, killing enough of them can trigger the gang war.
  • In the original PS2 version, the player can control Carl during the cutscene where Sweet takes Big Bear to rehab. This glitch can be used to obtain the AP Infernus that is used here by entering it before Sweet does with Big Bear inside it, driving it into the pond (which will fail the mission as Big Bear will drown) and pushing it back out, then saving it in a garage. This was fixed in subsequent versions.

Trivia[]

  • In the beta version, B Dup was supposed to be killed and CJ would have taken Big Bear to rehab instead of Sweet.
  • In the cutscene with the drug addict, right after Sweet says "Shit, he wearing Family colors, that's supposed to make him something", CJ's lips will move and make hand motions as if he tried to earn the chance to talk to the addict, but he actually says nothing.
  • Right before the opening cutscene ends, the crack whore's hand can be seen frozen going through CJ's chest. This is only possible to view in the remastered versions.
  • Despite only one Infernus used in the mission, the player can obtain a Full Immune one in front of B Dup's Crack Palace. However it's locked and can be pushed to The Johnson House Garage using another car.
