Beat Down on B Dup is a mission in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas given to protagonist Carl Johnson by Sweet at the Johnson House, Grove Street, Ganton, Los Santos

Bigbear

B Dup telling Big Bear to kill CJ and Sweet

Mission

Carl drops by the Johnson House and sees his brother, Sweet, about to smoke crack, believing that drugs have destroyed the Families, so he may as well let them destroy him too. Carl convinces Sweet not to do it and Sweet's girl tells him that he will have to deal with B Dup. Infuriated, Carl throws the girl out, saying he'll deal with him right now. Carl and Sweet head over to B Dup's house in Ganton.

A basehead sitting besides the door informs them that B Dup no longer lives there and that he has moved to Glen Park (the heart of Kilo Tray Ballas territory). Carl and Sweet head to Glen Park, start a gang war and successfully take it over. They then kill B Dup's guards and head inside.

Upon entering B Dup's house, B Dup claims that he was threatened and had no choice and claims that the order came from Big Smoke, now paranoid about competition and hidden away. B Dup says that only Big Smokes trusted lieutenants know where he's hiding. After Sweet threatens to kill him anyway, Dup calls his "crack slave" Big Bear and orders him to kill both Sweet and Carl. Big Bear angrily tells B Dup that he's tired of smoking crack and doing his housework and punches B Dup. He asks Carl if he can rejoin the Grove Street Families. They agree, and Sweet takes Big Bear to rehab in a white Infernus.

Mission objectives

In order to complete the mission the player must:

  • Get to B Dup's house
  • Go to Glen Park
  • Attack the Ballas and take over their territory
  • Kill B Dup's Guards
  • Go and confront B Dup

(Sweet is inside the Johnson House with his girl.)

Girl: Just a little bit of party. I heard you was down. So I gotta gift from B Dup.

Sweet: Come on now, I can't do that.

Girl: C'mon, Sweet, come on - make sure you enjoy this. This is a rich man's high. All the players are doing it. I know you're gonna enjoy this. It takes the pain away...

Sweet: Oh, yeah?

(Sweet nearly lights a drug pipe as Carl arrives.)

Carl Johnson: Oh, what the hell you doin'?!

Sweet: Shit. Man, everything is 'caine, 'caine, 'caine. Man, I just wanna see what's so good.

Carl Johnson: What's wrong with you, man?

Sweet: Man, this shit already destroyed the whole 'hood. I... I might as well let it destroy me, too.

Carl Johnson: Man, you don't need that shit, Sweet.

Sweet: What do you know about this? THIS is what it boils down to now.

Girl: Come on, Sweet. Toke the smoke.

Carl Johnson: Hey, man, that shit'll steal your heart. You can't see that? This bitch talks nice to you and this is what you do?

Sweet: Aw, fuck this!

Girl: You're going to have to deal with B Dup.

Carl Johnson: What? B DUP? We can handle that shit right now. Get your ass outta here. Bitch!

(Sweet and Carl are on the way towards B Dup's house.)

Carl Johnson: What were you thinking back there, bro?

Sweet: I'm tired, man, I'm real tired. Tired of putting the work in and still shit don't get better. Tired of seeing my family fall apart.

Carl Johnson: Sweet, man, you got more heart than that. Sure things are screwed up now, but we fittin' to take a corner, man. The day is coming when the Johnson family will be at the top. And it's coming real soon.

(Sweet and CJ outside B Dup's house, a basehead sits there.)

Carl Johnson: Hey, B Dup! Open up!

Sweet: B Dup!

Carl Johnson: Hey, open the door, punk!

Basehead: Yo', Dup ain't here. Moved out a while back.

Sweet: Where'd he go, dickhead?

Basehead: Yo' yo' yo', you're messing up a cat's colors, dude!

Sweet: Speak up, fool!

Basehead: Yo', I got something, a little something, just what you need...

(Basehead tries to show Sweet a pack of cocaine from his pocket and Sweet points a gun at him.)

Sweet: I don't want none of that shit! I oughta split your wig right now!

Basehead: No, no, no! No! NO! NO!

Carl Johnson: Sweet, no, you trippin', you trippin', man - c'mon, put the gun down! He a basehead, man!

Sweet: Shit. He wearing Family colors, that's supposed to make him somebody.

Carl Johnson: Look, fool, tell us where B Dup is, and we outta here.

Basehead: He lives over Glen Park way - his boy always there, give a cat what he needs.

Sweet: You're lucky.

(Sweet and Carl outside driving towards Glen Park.)

Carl Johnson: Oh man, Glen Park!

Sweet: Heart of Kilo Trays country.

Carl Johnson: Fuck it, I'm down, And that fool had it coming too long. We'll take the whole neighborhood apart.

Sweet: Yeah, let's roll!

(When they arrive at Glen Park.)

Sweet: Hit these Ballas hard!

Carl Johnson: Johnson boys rollin' through!

(When the neighborhood is taken over.)

Sweet: Okay, the neighborhood's sewed up now.

Carl Johnson: No sign of B Dup though, dog.

Sweet: Check that place over there.

(Sweet and Carl make it inside B Dup's house.)

Sweet: Say something!

B Dup: Hey, hey, no! I had no choice. I was threatened! Shit came from the boss, homie!

Carl Johnson: Pop this mother-fucker, man. I'm tired of hearing his bullshit.

B Dup: No, man! I'm sorry, dog - Smoke's fuckin' crazy. He's paranoid - just sits in the house, thinking other fools want his business!

Sweet: Where's Smoke?

B Dup: I can't tell you that.

Sweet: Then I'll snatch your fucking tongue out!

B Dup: Man, I ain't saying nothing, homie, 'cause I don't know! Only his lieutenants know where he's at!

Sweet: I oughta wet your shirt anyway!

B Dup: Bear! Hey, Bear! Get the fuck out here!

Big Bear: What's up, your lordship?

B Dup: Kill these mother-fuckers and I'll give you a whole quarter sack. Now handle that. Shoot them! What the fuck is wrong with you? You ain't hear what the fuck I said?

Big Bear: I'm tired of smoking, I'm tired of crack and I'm tired of doing your fucking housework. I'm free!

(Big Bear punches B Dup down on the floor.)

B Dup: Oh, shit! Man, what the fuck you do that for, man?

Big Bear: CJ, man, c'mon, put me back on the team. Gimme twenty bucks, and I'm all yours, man. Blast from the past.

Carl Johnson: Hey, let's take a ride, homie - I'm gonna shoot you somewhere you're gonna enjoy.

(Sweet, Bear and Carl outside B Dup's house.)

Sweet: I got Bear's back, man.

Carl Johnson: A'ight. I'll see you in a minute, Bear!

Big Bear: Where we going, Sweet?

Sweet: Someplace where we can get old Bear back!

Big Bear: A'ight. I'm down for that...

Notes

  • If you have already taken over Glen Park, a glitch may occur in which no Ballas spawn to attack in the area. It may be necessary to go beyond Glen Park and make Ballas members chase you back, or Ballas members can sometimes be located driving around the area, and if they're removed from their vehicles by carjacking, killing enough of them can trigger the gang war.
  • The more the Grove Street members you take with you on this mission, the better. Obtain a Coach before launching the mission and you can take a full load of gang members with you.
  • Watch out for traffic; the mission will fail if Sweet is killed, and it's possible for him to be run over.
  • One way to protect Sweet is to leave him behind after he and Carl interrogate the junky in Ganton. The game will instruct you to return and get him, but the mission will continue if you don't. After taking the hood, however, you will need to return and get Sweet and take him back to Glen Park in order to trigger the confrontation at B Dup's house.
  • If you've become accustomed to the difficulty level of gang warfare thus far, be warned the battle in this mission and the one that follows is considerably more difficult, with gang members armed with more powerful weapons that are capable of wiping out Carl's armor and health in a very few shots - and armor and health pick-ups are not as plentiful as they are during "normal" gang warfare.

Reward

Upon completing this mission the player is rewarded with respect and the mission Grove 4 Life is unlocked.
