In 1998, Ned Burner, posing as the father at the Liberty City Cathedral, has Toni Cipriani kill him for not giving an interview to the Liberty Tree newspaper. Lightman is killed on his way to the Liberty City Free Radio studio on Staunton Island, arriving in a limousine. Lightman was scheduled to do the interview in promotion for an upcoming film premier.
