Unused Images[]

I have noticed some images being proposed for deletion because they are unused. I have been going through the category and deleting all the duplicate images (also frequent lately), but leaving the unused ones because they are in the Anybody part of the tasks page, so I have always though that Special:UnusedImages exists so that users can add them to pages, not just propose them for deletion (unless vandalism or something like that). Is there any official (unwritten) policy on this, or does anyone else have any thoughts? Biggest GTA Fan EverTalk 09:58, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

The ones I want deleted the most are the old low-quality images that have been replaced with newer higher-quality images but without using the "Upload a new version" link. I can give you a list of them if you think old low-quality images should be deleted.--spaceeinstein 18:57, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I have been deleting them too! For example, yesterday I deleted Image:FlashCD.jpg, and changed all the pages that used it, so now they use Image:Toni.jpg. Biggest GTA Fan EverTalk 23:27, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Like Image:Coquette1.JPG and Image:Coquette2.JPG have been replaced by Image:Coquette (GTA4) (front).jpg and Image:Coquette (GTA4) (rear).jpg, Image:LCPDCruiser1.JPG by Image:Police Cruiser (GTA4) (front).jpg, Image:ForkliftGTAIV.JPG by Image:Forklift (GTA4) (front).jpg, and so on. Those are what I mean, too.--spaceeinstein 23:39, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

OK, they have been deleted, now I know why you proposed Image:Coquette1.JPG for deletion (and probably others that you have said are "unused"). I think in future you just have to be more careful with the proposal reason, and actually include a link to the better quality image (that is replacing it). Thanks! Ok, I'll be more descriptive next time.--spaceeinstein 00:33, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
