Curtly

Curtly was scheduled to be a character in the Grand Theft Auto series but was dropped from Grand Theft Auto III during its development. Curtly was most likely removed because of his mission: Novy's Darkel Trouble where you had to kill some of Darkels men in order to protect Novy which would link Curtly to Darkel. Curtly was voiced by Curtis L. McClarin, although the dialogue was never used. Curtly remains in the GTA III manual credits, listed below Darkel, although there is no character texture on the data files. Curtly would have been killed by Claude in the Darkel mission: So Long Curtly. Curtly also remains in the US version of the cover which shows a man wearing a blue uniform.

Curtly's missions

• The Money Owner: Curtly wants you to kill a guy who owes him money and doesn't want to pay him.

• Salvatore's Yakuza Visit: Some Yakuza members came to Salvatore's mansion to kill him, so Curtly wants you to go to his mansion to protect him by killing them.

• The Kidnap: A friend of Curtly has been kidnapped, so he wants you to rescue him.

• Emotional Revenge: Now that friend who was kidnapped has been murdered, and he wants you to kill the guys that killed him.

• Novy's Darkel Trouble: Another friend of Curtly, Tom Novy is under attack by Darkel's men because he said something about Darkel on the radio, so he wants you to protect Novy by killing all of Darkel's men.

Trivia

• Curtly's name is similiar to Curly Bob's name.
• In GTA III's second trailer the end scene where Claude walks into Salvatore's Gentlemen's Club is the cutscene for Curtly's mission "Salvatore's Yakuza Visit".
• Curtly would of been the first chracter to give out a mission while deceased ("Emotional Revenge").
