Description
"Fittin' to hit the block, see what's happening.

Carl and Sweet have managed to find out where their former friend, Big Smoke, is hiding. They drive over to Smoke's hideout in East Los Santos while avoiding rioters. Upon arriving, they see that Smoke's crack palace has heavy security and there's no way to enter the place except for breaking through the wall. Carl convinces Sweet to allow him to go by himself, saying that Smoke and Tenpenny played him, and also wanted to atone for letting their brother, Brian, die five years prior. Carl finds a S.W.A.T. tank nearby and steals it while being attacked by S.W.A.T. officers and Ballas gang members. He successfully smashes the wall and enters the crack palace.

Upon entering, Carl makes his way through three floors while killing Ballas, Vagos, San Fierro Rifa, and Russian Mafia gang members, as well as workers, whom all carry M4s, AK-47s, Combat Shotguns, and MP5s amongst other strong weapons. Carl manages to find Big Smoke, who claims that he doesn't feel any regrets over betraying the Grove Street Families, and takes out a gun ready to battle Carl. During a shootout, Carl manages to kill Smoke, and after a brief conversation questioning Smoke's decision, he says he had no choice and saw the opportunity for power and money before dying. With his dying breath, Smoke claims that "everyone will remember his name", ensuring his legacy. As soon as he dies, Carl sadly laments Smoke's end, muttering "Damn, man. What a waste..."
End of the Line is the final storyline mission of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas given to protagonist Carl Johnson by his brother and leader of the Grove Street Families, Sweet Johnson from his home in Grove Street, Ganton, Los Santos.

  +
Frank Tenpenny, who had been watching the whole thing, arrives and orders Carl to put all of Smoke's money in his bag. Tenpenny threatens Carl with a Combat Shotgun, and sarcastically congratulates Carl on killing Eddie Pulaski and, now, Big Smoke. Tenpenny then states his next move, boarding a plane to flee from Los Santos to avoid the rioters. As Tenpenny prepares to kill Carl, Carl manages to distract Tenpenny by shouting Sweet's name, and as Tenpenny quickly turns around, Carl manages to dive out of the way as Tenpenny quickly brings his attention back to Carl and shoots at him, albeit missing, and flees from the room. After that, Tenpenny runs to the second floor and sets the whole building on fire by shooting a generator, causing it to explode. Carl leaves the crack palace the same way he came in, killing anyone in his way.
Mission
Carl and Sweet Johnson have managed to find out where former friend, Big Smoke is hiding. They drive over to Smoke's hideout in East Los Santos avoiding rioters. Upon arriving, they see that Smoke's crack palace has heavy security and there's no way to enter the place except for breaking through the wall. Carl finds a SWAT Tank nearby and steals it while being attacked by SWAT officers and Ballas gang members. He successfully smashes the wall and enters the crack palace.

After successfully escaping, Tenpenny attempts to drive away in his fire truck, but Sweet jumps on his Greenwood and then leaps at the ladder on the back of the truck, and hangs on from it. Carl enters a parked Feltzer and starts to chase Tenpenny. During a long chase throughout Los Santos with Vagos and Ballas on the road throwing molotovs, and the police chasing the trio, a police officer in the truck gets out and starts stomping on Sweet's fingers. Carl gets the Feltzer under the ladder and Sweet drops onto the hood and then climbs over into the passenger seat.
Upon entering, Carl makes his way through three floors while killing Ballas, Vagos, San Fierro Rifa, and Russian Mafia gang members as well as workers, whom all carry M4, AK-47, Sawn-off Shotgun and MP5s amongst other strong weapons. Carl manages to find Big Smoke, who claims that he doesn't feel any regrets over betraying the Grove Street Families and takes out a gun ready to battle Carl. During a shoot-out, Carl manages to kill Smoke and after a brief conversation questioning Smoke's decision, he says he had no choice and saw the opportunity for power and money before dying.

On Carl's order, Sweet then takes control of the car with Carl acting as the shooter with his Micro SMG. The chase continues throughout the city with Carl destroying Police Cars, as well as Vagos rioters chasing them in Tornados and on bikes. The chase comes to an end on the bridge over Ganton where Tenpenny crashes his truck off the bridge. Tenpenny climbs out of the fire truck and deliriously shouts about how he had kept the neighborhood clean with his deeds and would "do it all again" before dying in the middle of Grove Street, where the story began and now where it ends.
Frank Tenpenny, who had been watching the whole thing, arrives and asks Carl to put all of Smoke's money in his bag. Tenpenny threatens Carl with a shotgun, but Carl distracts him by shouting "Sweet!" which makes Tenpenny think that Sweet is hiding somewhere. After he notices that he got fooled, he tries to shoot Carl, but Carl swings. After that, Tenpenny runs to the second floor and sets the whole building on fire by shooting a generator and causing it to explode.. Carl goes the same way out and kills any gang member on his way while avoiding burning himself by the fires around the building.

  +
Having witnessed this, Carl, Cesar, Sweet, and Kendl walk towards Tenpenny, and Carl prepares to shoot Tenpenny with a Desert Eagle "to make sure it's over". Sweet lowers Carl's gun however, instead deciding that Tenpenny "killed himself in a traffic accident, no one to blame", possibly so that nobody can link any of them or Grove Street Families to Tenpenny's demise. The Truth then appears, congratulating Carl for "beating the system", a feat which Truth claims would take ages for himself to achieve. Carl informs the others about Big Smoke's death, with Kendl remarking about how Smoke was only out for himself, a statement that The Truth agrees with, referring to it as the "surest path to Hell" ("That or forty pounds of mescaline"). As Truth, Sweet, Cesar, and Kendl walk away, Carl checks Tenpenny's corpse, before swiftly kicking it and mocking by mimicking Tenpenny's usual greetings towards him with: "See you around... Officer".
After successfully escaping, Tenpenny attempts to drive away in his Firetruck, Sweet jumps on his Greenwood and then leaps at the ladder on the back of the truck, and hangs on from the ladder. Carl enters a parked Feltzer and starts to chase Tenpenny. During a long chase throughout Los Santos with rioters on the road throwing molotovs and police chasing the trio, a police officer in the truck gets out and starts stamping on Sweet's fingers. Carl gets the Feltzer under the ladder and Sweet drops onto the hood and then climbs over into the passenger seat.

With that, the group reconvene inside the Johnson House to talk about their future, with Kendl discussing their ventures in San Fierro and Las Venturas, remarking on how "shit never ends". Ken Rosenberg, Madd Dogg, Kent Paul and Maccer enter the house, causing the rather paranoid group to ready their guns, then lower them upon seeing who it is. Madd Dogg announces his first gold record, and they all celebrate their success, and Maccer gleefully announces that he will be getting breast implants before Carl heads out of the house "fittin' to hit the block, see what's happening". Outside, Catalina calls for the last time while having sex with her boyfriend Claude, in a failed attempt to make Carl jealous. Carl expresses his annoyance and disgust at Catalina, telling her to get help.
Sweet then takes control of the car with Carl acting as the shooter with his Micro SMG. The chase continues throughout the city with Carl destroying Police Cars as well as rioters chasing them in cars and bikes. The chase comes to an end on the bridge going above Ganton where Tenpenny crashes his truck through a breakable part of the bridge and after shouting for a while, eventually dies at the heart of Grove Street territory, where all the game begins and ends.

Mission Objectives
Carl, Sweet, The Truth, Kendl, Cesar together start a conversation as Tenpenny says his last words and they head inside the Johnson House to talk about their future. Suddenly, Ken Rosenberg, Madd Dogg, Kent Paul and Maccer enter the house with everybody inside drawing their guns towards them. Madd Dogg announces his first gold record and they all celebrate their success before Carl heads out of the house "fittin' to hit the block, see what's happening". Following the end, Catalina calls for the last time and is heard having sex with her boyfriend Claude, in a tentative to make Carl jealous.

Although this is the final mission of the game, the game itself does not end upon its conclusion. Following the closing cutscene and closing credits, Carl is back on Grove Street. A last phone call from Catalina is received, after which Carl is free to roam about San Andreas as the game enters pure sandbox mode. Any leftover non-storyline missions such as the Zero and Casino strands can still be played out, as can street races, etc. A final WCTR news report is also triggered, detailing the aftermath of the riots. If 100% Completion has been attained, the various rewards will become available after the closing credits.

Although this is the final mission of the game, the game itself does not actually end upon its conclusion. Following the closing cutscene and credits, Carl is back on Grove Street. The riots subside, and a final WCTR news report is broadcast detailing the aftermath of the riots. One last phone call from Catalina is received, after which Carl is free to roam about San Andreas as the game enters pure sandbox mode. Any leftover non-storyline missions such as the Zero, Wang Cars, and Casino strands can still be played out, as can street races, etc.

*As this is the last mission of the game, all other mandatory submissions, races and odd jobs required for 100% completion must be accomplished before launching this mission (although as noted above, any leftovers can still be played out after the main game ends).

*Sweet's Greenwood is locked once Carl and Sweet arrive at Big Smoke's Crack Palace, and the player cannot enter it again during the mission. Sweet remains inside until he jumps onto the ladder of the firetruck.

  +

*When CJ confronts Big Smoke, Smoke pulls a Combat Shotgun. However, when the gunfight begins, he uses an AK-47.

*Another oddity with Big Smoke is after the cutscene where Tenpenny leaves the drug lab, is that Smoke's head is under the couch, regardless of where the player killed him. He also has an AK-47 which he dropped and body armor, although this is unrealistic as Smoke's body armor is full of bullets in the cutscene where he dies.

*In the cutscene after Big Smoke dies, Tenpenny is armed with a combat shotgun. But in the next cutscene, when he shoots the generator, he is seen with a normal pump shotgun.

*No matter what pistol the player has in their inventory, Carl will always have a Desert Eagle when he confronts Smoke, and after he's killed Smoke. This will also be the default weapon Carl pulls out regardless what weapon the player has selected before the cutscene begins.

*The Feltzer in this mission is bulletproof/fireproof/explosionproof/damageproof, it can be obtained by failing the mission. The license plate reads " I LOVE MY AK".

*On rare occasions CJ will shout 'Hang on Sweet' just as he starts to chase Tenpenny.

*It is possible to get close enough to the firetruck and attempt to hijack it although it is locked.

*It is possible to obtain a one-carriage train (only the engine carriage).

*The Brown Streak locomotive will be solid only when the player drives past it. Other times, other trains just drive straight through it.

*Once the part 2 (The chase of the Firetruck) is failed, and you do the mission again, the first part (the gunfight inside the crack den) is skipped and directly to the part 2 scene, hinting that it automatically "Trip Skips" the scene.

*The two SWAT Tanks seen on this mission are the only two in the entire game. The one used to smash the wall can be stored in a garage, however it will disappear after the mission unless the player fails the mission.

*When the second SWAT Tank crashes through the wall of the crack palace, SWAT members will get out and start to assist the Ballas and Vagos. This could prove that CRASH could contain way more than just Tenpenny, Pulaski and Hernandez, possibly containing large amounts of officers from the LSPD and even the SWAT team.

*Tenpenny's firetruck has extreme speed, equal to a sports car rather than a firetruck. However, if you fail to catch Sweet and the mission is failed, the firetruck advances slowly and stops near Las Colinas after East Beach. You can follow it in the Feltzer and obtain it, although it goes slowly and has broken tires.

*The player is 100% free of police attention during the mission.

*The mission is played in three parts: The first ends when CJ kills Smoke and Tenpenny blows up the lab. The second ends when CJ exits the building and Sweet hangs on the firetruck, and the third is the remainder of the mission (chase and ending). If you had completed one or two parts and replay the mission, the first parts will be skipped and you will start from when you have failed the mission.

*The time in this mission is prewritten. Whether or not the player enters the mission at a certain time, the mission will start at 21:30 outside Sweet's house, so the confrontation between him and Smoke is normally early in the morning. Although, after Tenpenny blows up the lab and CJ is alone in Smoke's room, the time is 00:00. Concerning that the player has 7 minutes (7 game hours) to get out of the building, so when he gets out the time is around the first hours of the day. However, when he starts chasing Tenpenny, the time is 17:00, so the death of Tenpenny is around 5PM. The mission is finally passed at 01:15. That makes the mission considerably the longest in the GTA series, starting at 21:30 of the first day, and ending at 01:15 of the third day.

*When the player sees Big Smoke playing a video game, the joystick he's holding has no wire. Both it and the console resemble an original Xbox and controller.

*There are video game machines in Big Smoke's citadel, the player can play them, but you have to make sure that you can get out of the building. The game Big Smoke is playing can also be played, even though there is no TV around.

*It is rather odd that the gangsters in the building will not try to escape the building. This may be due to the lack of NPCs being able to enter/exit buldings.

*The game Red Dead Revolver has a mission with the same name.

*An easier way to kill Big Smoke is to go to Toreno's ranch before you start the mission and grab a minigun or obtain via a pick-up. Fire it at Big Smoke and you can defeat him in a few seconds.

*If you are really good, you can even use a melee weapon like a knife or a katana or even CJ's fists and pin Big Smoke to the ground by doing combo attacks and kill him that way.

*At the start of the mission, Sweet's car is invincible.

*At one point, a SWAT Tank breaks in through the wall from a back alleyway, allowing SWAT to enter the building. However, there is no back alleyway on the building's exterior, and there is no hole anywhere where the Tank could have burst in through. The tank comes from a fake world, as you can tell by re-entering the building after completing the mission, going upstairs to the hole and looking around the exterior.

*The third part of the mission is a reference to a 1997 American action film, Con Air, where Cyrus 'The Virus' Grissom (John Malkovich) escapes on a fire truck near the end of the film.

*Carl saying to the dead Tenpenny "See you around...officer!" is a reference to the first mission, in which Tenpenny shoves Carl out of his police car, saying "See you around, Carl!"

*Completing the Firefighter submission prior to going after Smoke makes Carl fireproof, allowing him to walk through the flames without having to deal with the fire extinguisher.

*Laid by the door to Big Smoke's Penthouse you can see a black carpet with white letters that say "NOT WELCOME - ROCKSTAR NORTH", and the Rockstar North logo.

*If the "Super Punch" cheat is activated during the mission, it is possible to kill Big Smoke in one punch. Note that even after that, he will still have bullet holes in his body armor.

*This is one of only two missions where Frank Tenpenny appears without Eddie Pulaski. (the other one being Body Harvest)

*Some pedestrians will sit near the entrance of Big Smoke's crack fortress, they can be killed with a single bullet. They're probably crack addicts as the ones seen in Cleaning The Hood.

*The beta version of the Premier based police car appears during the cut scene when Tenpenny's fire truck crashes onto Grove Street before he dies.

*The mission is referenced in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, when the police helicopter pilot says "LCPD! THIS IS THE END OF THE LINE!!!

*There is an error in the subtitles during the chase scene. Sweet tells CJ to keep these lunatics off our backs yet the subtitles read to keep them off their case.

*Smoke is not affected by explosive, therefore try to not use Grenades, Rocket Launcher and other explosive weapons, using it will only waste ammo.

*Carl smashing the SWAT tank into the crack palace is a reference to LAPD Chief Daryl Gates sending armored vehicles called "battering rams" to smash into suspected crack houses in South Central Los Angeles during the 80s crack epidemic.

Trivia
*Carl is free from police attention during the mission (aside from the scripted police sequences).
  +
*During the final cutscene, the police car briefly appears behind Tenpenny's fire truck as the camera pans to the side; it has slightly rounded tail lights. Also, in the PS2 and PS4 versions, the vehicle is white.

*Sweet's Greenwood is locked once Carl and Sweet arrive at Big Smoke's Crack Palace, and the player cannot enter it again during the mission. Sweet remains inside until he jumps onto the ladder of the fire truck. Also, the Greenwood is indestructible and can't be moved without a Minigun or Sawn-Off Shotgun when the mission fails (similar to the mission Tagging Up Turf).
  +
*During the final cutscene, when Tenpenny attempts to call for backup, a unique siren can be heard in the distance.
  +
*During the final shootout with Big Smoke, he is immune to explosions.
  +
*It is possible to shoot out the tires of Tenpenny's firetruck during the chase sequence with Sweet. This has no effect on Tenpenny's control of the firetruck as it follows a scripted path.
  +
*CJ smashing the S.W.A.T. vehicle through the front door of the crack palace is a reference to former Los Angeles Police Department police chief Daryl Gates, authorizing the LAPD's SWAT to use the Cadillac Gage Commando#Civilian operators, an amphibious armored vehicle they referred to as the "battering ram" (which the in-game S.W.A.T. vehicle is based on) to execute search warrants by raiding and smashing into suspected crack dens in South Los Angeles during the late-1980s.

*In the cutscene when Carl confronts Big Smoke, Smoke pulls a Combat Shotgun. However, when the gunfight begins, he uses an AK-47, possibly for balancing reasons. His AK-47 has reduced overall performance.
  +
**Similarly, in the cutscene when Tenpenny appears, he pulls out a Combat Shotgun, but later uses a Pump Shotgun to shoot a generator.

*When Tenpenny leaves the drug lab, Big Smoke's head will be under the couch regardless of where the player killed him. He also has an AK-47, which he dropped, and body armor.
  +
*In the cutscene when Tenpenny asks Carl to give the suitcase full of money over to him, the suitcase passes through Big Smoke's CJD 500. This is rectified in The Definitive Edition.

*No matter what pistol the player has in their inventory, Carl will always have a Desert Eagle when he confronts Smoke, and after he's killed Smoke. This will also be the default weapon Carl pulls out regardless of what weapon the player has selected before the cutscene begins.
  +
**Similarly, regardless of what weapon Carl has in his submachine gun slot, following the completion of this mission, Carl will always have a Micro SMG with 70 rounds of ammunition.

*The Feltzer in this mission is bulletproof/fireproof/explosionproof/damageproof, and can be obtained by ditching it. The license plate reads "IMY AK", which cannot be saved at a garage like other license plates. The same plate can be found on the BF-400 in Just Business, and the Cheetah if the player buys it at the Easter Basin Docks.

*The two S.W.A.T. tanks seen in this mission are the only two in the entire game. The one used to smash the wall can be stored in a garage, however, it will disappear after the mission unless the player fails the mission beforehand.

*The time in this mission is prewritten. Regardless of what time the player begins the mission, the mission will start at 21:30 outside Sweet's house, so the confrontation between Carl and Smoke would be during the night. Although, after Tenpenny shoots the generators and Carl is left alone in the room with Smoke's body, the time is 00:00. Since the player has seven minutes (seven in-game hours) to escape from the lab, when Carl leaves the lab, it should be early in the morning. However, when the pursuit of Tenpenny begins, the time is 17:00. Tenpenny's death is around 23:00 and the mission is finally passed at 1:00.

*At one point, a S.W.A.T. tank breaks in through the wall from a back alleyway, allowing S.W.A.T. to enter the building. However, there is no back alleyway on the building's exterior, and there is no hole anywhere where the tank could have burst in through. The tank comes from the Hidden Interiors Universe, as one can tell by re-entering the building after completing the mission, going upstairs to the hole, and looking around the exterior.
  +
*When Carl is standing over Tenpenny's corpse, he sarcastically says "See you around... Officer". This is a reference to what Tenpenny says ("See you around like a donut, Carl...") when he shoves Carl out of the police car during the first mission, and when he says "Yo Carl, see you around..." during the opening cutscene of the mission Running Dog.
  +
*After Tenpenny's death, the group head in the direction of Sweet's house but end up in the Johnson house. Also, The Truth is present in the street but does not appear in the house.
  +
*The chase sequence in the mission is a reference to the 1997 film Con Air.
  +
*A statue of Big Smoke's beta appearance can be seen inside the crack palace during the mission.
  +
*Originally following completion of the mission, Big Smoke's Crack Palace was supposed to serve as a safehouse, but the idea was scrapped. However, the crack palace remains accessible to the player following the mission.
  +
*If Carl shoots at the officer on the back of the fire truck during the chase, he will not fall off the truck and hit the ground. Instead, he will dangle from the fire truck's ladder by his feet.
  +
**Another officer will come out of the firetruck and attempt to shoot at the player. However, if the player kills this one, his body will fall to the ground.
  +
*If one was to explore the cutscene after the gunfight with Big Smoke, the player could see that Tenpenny is fully animated, and is observing Carl and Big Smoke's conversation off-camera.
  +
*If the player fails the mission during the chase part and restarts it, the mission will start from the cutscene with Tenpenny getting into the fire truck, skipping the whole crack palace firefight.
  +
*If the player runs out of time while inside the building, the building will explode which will cause CJ to be wasted, failing the mission.
  +
*Unlike most of the missions which give monetary reward, the monetary reward for this mission is not displayed after completing the mission, but it is added to the player's money.
  +
*Interestingly enough, at the end of this mission, the player ends up at the same spot (near the Johnson House entrance) where the first mission is triggered.
  +
*An odd glitch occurs if the player smashes the S.W.A.T. tank into the entrance but instead of proceeding in, goes into the Loco Low Co with a lowrider, the player will be teleported inside of the security area of the crack fortress with the modification menu up instead of the garage as normal, the player will be able to modify their car but with the controls messed up, if the player leaves the "garage" then they won't be able to re-enter the crack fortress without failing the mission and retrying, the glitch can be seen here
  +
*When CJ tells Tenpenny that he's lost it, the latter tells him that he "ain't about to get dragged out of a patrol car and get beaten to death by some angry mob". This is a reference to Reginald Denny, a truck driver who was beaten and nearly killed by a group of rioters during the 1992 Los Angeles riots.

Carl: “It's time for Smoke.”
Sweet: “Alright let's roll.”
Carl: “Johnson brothers fittin' to take that fat fool down!”
Carl Johnson and Sean Johnson, before setting off to where Big Smoke is hiding.

End of the Line is the final storyline mission in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas given to protagonist Carl Johnson by Grove Street Families leader Sean "Sweet" Johnson from his home in Ganton, Los Santos, San Andreas.

Description

Officer".

Carl Johnson enters Sweet's House, looking for his brother, Sweet Johnson, having found out where Big Smoke is hiding.
CJ: Hey, Sweet!
Sweet: Wassup?
CJ: It's time for Smoke.
Sweet: Alright let's roll.
CJ: Johnson brothers fittin' to take that fat fool down!
CJ and Sweet head outside, get into Sweet's Greenwood and drive to Big Smoke's Crack Palace in East Los Santos.
CJ: You sure he in East Los Santos?
Sweet: Yeah, right on the edge of Los Flores - some old apartments and a warehouse.
CJ: He as good as dead, then! I can't believe you bought the same bucket-ass car, man.
Sweet: Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. So, this is it, huh? Johnson boys sorting shit out.
CJ: Yeah.
Sweet: Nervous?
CJ: Yeah.
Sweet: Me too, me too.
CJ and Sweet arrive just outside Smoke's palace. Sweet loads his pistol.
CJ: Look, I know you down for this, but I gotta go in there alone.
Sweet: What?
CJ: Smoke played me, Tenpenny played me.
Sweet: They played us all.
CJ: Yeah, but you're right - I was a buster when my family needed me the most. Hey, I let Brian die, man. This one's for him, for Moms... and for you, bro.
Sweet: For Grove Street, baby!
CJ: Yeah, for the Grove, baby.
CJ opens the car's door.
Sweet: Hey - if you need me, you know where I'll be.
CJ: For sure. You've always been there for me, man.
CJ gets out of Sweet's car. He finds that the entrance to Smoke's fortress is heavily reinforced.
NOTE: The following line will play if CJ tries to return to Sweet's car.
Sweet: CJ, you lost your nerve or what?
CJ finds a S.W.A.T. tank, steals it and uses it to break into the fortress. From there, he heads through Smoke's palace and kills anyone that gets in his way, through the security area, the drug lab, and the Ballas lounge, until he reaches Big Smoke in his suite, who's wearing body armor and playing a video game. CJ greets Smoke by pointing a gun at him.
CJ: Hey, Smoke!
Big Smoke: Hey, CJ, I was wondering when you'd show up.
CJ: How'd you know it was me?
Big Smoke: Knew it was my old dog CJ. Knew you was coming and I don't give a shit.
CJ: I'm here to take care of your fat ass, then I'm gonna take care of your friends in the police department. Where they at?
Big Smoke: Man, fuck this shit.
Smoke throws his controller down and smokes some crack.
Big Smoke: Man, that's some good shit...
CJ: (not in subtitles) Man, you and Tenpenny...
Big Smoke: Fuck Tenpenny and fuck his Polish lap dog, and fuck the police, man. All that's old shit! Look at you, you got the whole world! I ain't got no regrets, man.
CJ: (not in subtitles) Smoke, you had...
Big Smoke: I made it, CJ, I'm a success! I can't be touched! I don't give a fuck, fuck the whole world...
CJ: What happened to you, man?
Big Smoke: Man, what the fuck do you care? (sighs) Guess we better do this shit, then.
Smoke picks up his gun and attempts to fight CJ.
CJ: You wearing body armor, Smoke? Man, I'm disappointed in you - I thought you was gangsta!
Big Smoke: Hey, I'm a motherfucking celebrity! All kinds of crazy cats out there want a piece of me! Somebody save the Smoke!
Smoke's various allies, including the Ballas, the Vagos, and the Rifa, attempt to defend Smoke. As he is being shot by CJ, he switches the lights off in an attempt to handicap his former friend.
Big Smoke: Shoot him, help me!
Ultimately, it ends up being a fruitless effort, as CJ takes Big Smoke down, and confronts him as he's about to bleed out.
CJ: Hey, Smoke, what made you flip out like that, man? Was it the drugs, or what?
Big Smoke: I got caught up in the money, (coughs) the power...I don't give a shit. Oh fuck, man... (coughs)
CJ: Why you just didn't quit, man? We was like family, homie!
Big Smoke: I had no choice, I had to do it...I just see the opportunity. (coughs) When I'm gone, everyone gonna remember my name - Big Smoke!
Big Smoke dies.
CJ: Oh, damn, man...what a waste.
As CJ mourns his dead friend-turned-enemy, Frank Tenpenny greets CJ with a suitcase and a Combat Shotgun.
Tenpenny: Carl Johnson - my man! I need you to do me another favor. You killed Pulaski, and now this fat fuck? There's no stopping you! Drop the gun.
CJ drops his gun.
CJ: You ain't leaving here alive, man.
Tenpenny: Where's your brother at, huh?
CJ: Why you just didn't shoot me in the back? Feeling exposed, huh?
Tenpenny: Shut your dumbass up and load the bag. C'mon, let's go, I ain't got time to fuck with you!
CJ: So what it's like, Tenpenny, huh? All alone, nobody got your back, suck, huh?
Tenpenny: Why you think I'm alone? I got a couple of rookies outside, but I gotta open their eyes slowly, you know - a little truth here, a little truth there...
CJ loads Tenpenny's suitcase with some of Smoke's drug money.
Tenpenny: A'ight, fuck it, that's enough. Chuck it over, I've got a firetruck to catch.
CJ gives the suitcase back to Tenpenny.
CJ: You're crazy man, you've lost it... you're gone.
Tenpenny: Half the city is looking for cops to kill, Carl, and I ain't about to get dragged out of a patrol car and get beaten to death by some angry mob. No, no, not tonight.
CJ: What you catching, a plane?
Tenpenny: Ding-ding-ding-ding-ding! Good answer, Carl! You know, you're gonna thank me one day for opening your fucking eyes. Oh, I almost forgot, Carl! (cocks his shotgun) Time to die!
CJ: Uh, Sweet!
Tenpenny: What? Motherf-
CJ dodges Tenpenny's gunshots.
Tenpenny: It ain't over, Carl, it ain't over!
Tenpenny grabs his suitcase and flees to a power generator, firing his shotgun at it.
Tenpenny: Carl, you motherfucking piece of shit gang-banging cocksucker!
The power generators explode, causing a blackout in the building, with the whole fortress beginning to burn down and fall apart. CJ makes his way downstairs to escape and kills everybody that gets in his way. CJ barely makes his escape through the flames as the entire building explodes. Tenpenny attempts to make his escape by stealing a nearby firetruck.
Sweet: Tenpenny, you motherfucking piece of shit! I ain't letting you get away with all you've done!
Sweet jumps on the ladder on the back of the truck.
CJ: Sweet, no!
CJ gets into a Feltzer parked nearby and begins chasing Tenpenny, as well as attempting to save his brother.
CJ: Hang on, Sweet!
Tenpenny drives to Los Flores and Las Colinas, where rioting Vagos members throw Molotov Cocktails at CJ.
Sweet: I'm gonna piss on your corpse, Tenpenny! I ain't losing this fool! Oh, SHIT!
The chase continues in Glen Park and Jefferson.
Sweet: CJ, do something!
CJ: Just keep hanging on, bro!
The chase continues in Idlewood, as Tenpenny soon drives on the train tracks, avoiding an oncoming train.
Sweet: Oh man, that was a close call! I ain't letting this bastard go!
The chase continues in Ocean Docks. At this point, an LSPD officer gets out from the other side of the firetruck and attempts to stomp on Sweet's fingers to make him lose his grip.
C.R.A.S.H. Rookie: Let go, you dumb bastard!
Sweet: Fuck you, pig! Ow, my fingers!
CJ catches Sweet.
CJ: Gotcha! Take the wheel, it's payback time!
CJ and Sweet switch seats, as Sweet begins driving and CJ pulls out his Micro Uzi in the other seat.
Sweet: Motherfucker! Take that pig bastard down!
CJ shoots at the cops in the firetruck, but the truck shows no visible damage.
Sweet: Those firetrucks are indestructible, we ain't gonna dent it! Watch our six, cops on our tail!
Two LSPD cars chase down Sweet and CJ, and CJ fends them off.
Sweet: Vagos rioters coming up! This city's gone nuts!
The Vagos throw more Molotov Cocktails at them, with some giving chase in Tornados, with the chase going through Los Flores.
Sweet: I'll keep with with Tenpenny, don't you worry! Concentrate on keeping all these other lunatics off our backs, CJ!
Tenpenny flees towards East Beach, where more Vagos members throw more Molotovs at Sweet and CJ.
Sweet: Rioters on the bridge up ahead! They're dropping shit from that bridge! Look out, CJ! Watch our six, some rioters after us on bikes!
As Tenpenny makes his way to Willowfield, Vagos members chase after Sweet and CJ on Sanchez bikes.
Sweet: Look out, CJ! Crazy bikers on a rampage! I'm on Tenpenny, he ain't getting away!
More LSPD cars escort Tenpenny and attack Sweet and CJ.
Sweet: Cops on our tail! Cops up ahead! Where'd all these assholes come from?!
CJ: Down in flames! DOWN IN FLAMES!
Sweet: That's my dog!
The chase continues in Ganton.
CJ: It's over, Tenpenny, OVER! I'm a stop you, motherfucker!
Tenpenny heads back into East Los Santos, but suddenly loses control of the truck.
Sweet: He's losing control!
CJ: We've got the motherfucker!
The firetruck crashes through the Ganton Bridge and into Grove Street. Tenpenny gets out of the truck, heavily injured.
Tenpenny: Come on, assholes! (coughs) I'll take you all! You're mine! Mine! I run this town! Hey, over here, HEY! Officer down! Come on, HEY! (coughs)
Realizing that no one is coming to help him, Tenpenny drops on his knees in defeat.
Tenpenny: Assholes! You never understood what I did! Fifty of me, and this town would be okay! (coughs) I took the trash out! I DID! (coughs) And I'd do it all again... (coughs)
Sweet, CJ, Kendl Johnson, Cesar Vialpando and The Truth witness Tenpenny dying, CJ points a gun at Tenpenny as he dies from his injuries.
Sweet: Don't...don't do it, man, he's gone.
CJ puts his gun away.
CJ: I just wanna be sure it's over, man, that's all.
Sweet: It's cool, don't need to put a bullet in him. He killed hisself in a traffic accident, no one to blame. Let's roll.
The Truth: I mean, far out, man! You know, I mean, you beat the system. I tried for thirty years to cross over, but you've managed it, man. I mean, man, you're an icon, man!
CJ: Oh - thanks, man.
Kendl: I'm just glad it's finally over.
Sweet: What's up with Smoke?
CJ: You know what's up with Smoke. He always saw things a little different than us.
Kendl: Smoke? Smoke was always on his own, always out for self.
The Truth: That is the surest path to hell, man. Well, that or fifteen microdots and an ounce of mescaline.
Cesar: Let's go get something to eat.
Sweet: Sounds good to me.
As everyone else leaves. CJ turns over Tenpenny's corpse to taunt him one last time.
CJ: See you around...officer!
CJ then leaves the scene. A while later, he and his friends and family are in the Johnson House, discussing what to do next.
CJ: Hey, now that everything is cool, we gotta stay on top of our game. Keep everything in check, but subtle.
Kendl: We've got problems in Venturas, problems in San Fierro, shit's never ending.
Sweet: For sure. I mean, the Families is back on their feet, but we gotta keep shit tight cuz a lot of people have they eyes on us.
Somebody enters the house. Sweet, CJ and Cesar pull out their pistols, only for the guests to be revealed as Ken Rosenberg, Madd Dogg, Kent Paul and Maccer.
Ken: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! I come in peace with Mr. Dogg here, who has an announcement.
Madd Dogg: My, I mean our first gold record!
Everyone cheers.
Maccer: And I've decided to get breast implants.
Paul: Oh, shut up, will ya?
Cesar: Biyonco, ese!
Paul escorts Maccer to the kitchen.
CJ: Anyway, what's next?
Kendl: We should hit the casinos, roll some dice with Woozie.
Sweet: Nah, we gotta take care of shit here first.
Madd Dogg: We're going on tour, fan!
Ken: Has anyone got a tissue? My nose...it just won't stop running - anybody?
Maccer: Yeah, I have, over here!
Ken: Uh, I'll pass.
Kendl: Carl, where are you off to now?
CJ: Fittin' to hit the block, see what's happening.
CJ leaves the house. Cue end credits.

Post-Mission Phone Call Script

Carl Johnson: Eh, whassup?

Catalina: (Heavy breathing)

Carl Johnson: Hello?

Catalina: Yes, Claude, faster, harder, DEEPER! Oh, yes, yes, YES!

Carl Johnson: Catalina! You sick! Get help!

Catalina: And you, Carl, you are jealous!

Aftermath

Although this is the final mission of the game, the game itself does not actually end upon its conclusion. Following the closing cutscene and credits, Carl is back on Grove Street. The riots subside, and a final WCTR news report is broadcast detailing the aftermath of the riots. One last phone call from Catalina is received, after which Carl is free to roam about San Andreas as the game enters pure sandbox mode. Any leftover non-storyline missions such as the Zero, Wang Cars, and Casino strands can still be played out, as can street races, etc.

In sandbox mode, certain aspects of the San Andreas universe continue to play out. Progress with the various girlfriends will still go up and down depending on whether Carl continues to date them or not; Carl's physical condition will still change depending on actions like working out and eating; enemy gang members may still randomly shoot at Carl when he passes.

Also, Gang Warfare conditions still apply, meaning Carl will still need to defend territory in Los Santos should any neighboring enemy gang areas remain.

Finally, if 100% Completion has been attained by this point, the various rewards will become available after the closing credits.

  • Carl is free from police attention during the mission (aside from the scripted police sequences).
  • During the final cutscene, the police car briefly appears behind Tenpenny's fire truck as the camera pans to the side; it has slightly rounded tail lights. Also, in the PS2 and PS4 versions, the vehicle is white.
  • Sweet's Greenwood is locked once Carl and Sweet arrive at Big Smoke's Crack Palace, and the player cannot enter it again during the mission. Sweet remains inside until he jumps onto the ladder of the fire truck. Also, the Greenwood is indestructible and can't be moved without a Minigun or Sawn-Off Shotgun when the mission fails (similar to the mission Tagging Up Turf).
  • During the final cutscene, when Tenpenny attempts to call for backup, a unique siren can be heard in the distance.
  • During the final shootout with Big Smoke, he is immune to explosions.
  • It is possible to shoot out the tires of Tenpenny's firetruck during the chase sequence with Sweet. This has no effect on Tenpenny's control of the firetruck as it follows a scripted path.
  • CJ smashing the S.W.A.T. vehicle through the front door of the crack palace is a reference to former LAPD police chief Daryl Gates, authorizing the LAPD's S.W.A.T. to use the Cadillac Gage V-100 Commando, an amphibious armored vehicle they referred to as the "battering ram" (which the in-game S.W.A.T. vehicle is based on) to execute search warrants by raiding and smashing into suspected crack dens in South Central Los Angeles during the late-1980s.
  • In the cutscene when Carl confronts Big Smoke, Smoke pulls a Combat Shotgun. However, when the gunfight begins, he uses an AK-47, possibly for balancing reasons. His AK-47 has reduced overall performance.
    • Similarly, in the cutscene when Tenpenny appears, he pulls out a Combat Shotgun, but later uses a Pump Shotgun to shoot a generator.
  • When Tenpenny leaves the drug lab, Big Smoke's head will be under the couch regardless of where the player killed him. He also has an AK-47, which he dropped, and body armor.
  • In the cutscene when Tenpenny asks Carl to give the suitcase full of money over to him, the suitcase passes through Big Smoke's CJD 500. This is rectified in The Definitive Edition.
  • No matter what pistol the player has in their inventory, Carl will always have a Desert Eagle when he confronts Smoke, and after he's killed Smoke. This will also be the default weapon Carl pulls out regardless of what weapon the player has selected before the cutscene begins.
    • Similarly, regardless of what weapon Carl has in his submachine gun slot, following the completion of this mission, Carl will always have a Micro SMG with 70 rounds of ammunition.
  • The Feltzer in this mission is bulletproof/fireproof/explosionproof/damageproof, and can be obtained by ditching it. The license plate reads "IMY AK", which cannot be saved at a garage like other license plates. The same plate can be found on the BF-400 in Just Business, and the Cheetah if the player buys it at the Easter Basin Docks.
  • The two S.W.A.T. tanks seen in this mission are the only two in the entire game. The one used to smash the wall can be stored in a garage, however, it will disappear after the mission unless the player fails the mission beforehand.
  • The time in this mission is prewritten.
  • At one point, a S.W.A.T. tank breaks in through the wall from a back alleyway, allowing S.W.A.T. to enter the building. However, there is no back alleyway on the building's exterior, and there is no hole anywhere where the tank could have burst in through. The tank comes from the Hidden Interiors Universe, as one can tell by re-entering the building after completing the mission, going upstairs to the hole, and looking around the exterior.
  • When Carl is standing over Tenpenny's corpse, he sarcastically says "See you around... Officer". This is a reference to what Tenpenny says ("See you around like a donut, Carl...") when he shoves Carl out of the police car during the first mission, and when he says "Yo Carl, see you around..." during the opening cutscene of the mission Running Dog.
  • After Tenpenny's death, the group head in the direction of Sweet's house but end up in the Johnson house. Also, The Truth is present in the street but does not appear in the house.
  • The chase sequence in the mission is a reference to the 1997 film Con Air.
  • A statue of Big Smoke's beta appearance can be seen inside the crack palace during the mission.
  • Originally following completion of the mission, Big Smoke's Crack Palace was supposed to serve as a safehouse, but the idea was scrapped. However, the crack palace remains accessible to the player following the mission.
  • If Carl shoots at the officer on the back of the fire truck during the chase, he will not fall off the truck and hit the ground. Instead, he will dangle from the fire truck's ladder by his feet.
    • Another officer will come out of the firetruck and attempt to shoot at the player. However, if the player kills this one, his body will fall to the ground.
  • If one was to explore the cutscene after the gunfight with Big Smoke, the player could see that Tenpenny is fully animated, and is observing Carl and Big Smoke's conversation off-camera.[2]
  • If the player fails the mission during the chase part and restarts it, the mission will start from the cutscene with Tenpenny getting into the fire truck, skipping the whole crack palace firefight.
  • If the player runs out of time while inside the building, the building will explode which will cause CJ to be wasted, failing the mission.
  • Unlike most of the missions which give monetary reward, the monetary reward for this mission is not displayed after completing the mission, but it is added to the player's money.
  • Interestingly enough, at the end of this mission, the player ends up at the same spot (near the Johnson House entrance) where the first mission is triggered.
  • An odd glitch occurs if the player smashes the S.W.A.T. tank into the entrance but instead of proceeding in, goes into the Loco Low Co with a lowrider, the player will be teleported inside of the security area of the crack fortress with the modification menu up instead of the garage as normal, the player will be able to modify their car but with the controls messed up, if the player leaves the "garage" then they won't be able to re-enter the crack fortress without failing the mission and retrying, the glitch can be seen here
  • When CJ tells Tenpenny that he's lost it, the latter tells him that he "ain't about to get dragged out of a patrol car and get beaten to death by some angry mob". This is a reference to Reginald Denny, a truck driver who was beaten and nearly killed by a group of rioters during the 1992 Los Angeles riots.
