Lyle Cleethorpes is a celebrity in the Grand Theft Auto series, who appears in Grand Theft Auto IV.
History[]
Background[]
Lyle Cleethorpes V is an heir to a five-generation, century-old family fortune built on tobacco and the slave trade. He is regarded to be a waste of the family fortune and is allegedly a product of inbreeding. Suspicions arose that he still has business interests in the Southeast Asian sweatshops and slave trades. He aspires to be famous, which is why he built the Cleethorpes Tower located in Hatton Gardens, Algonquin. Also, he garners considerable media attention for his meth addiction and pastime of driving fast cars and bikes while high on drugs.
Events of Grand Theft Auto IV[]
According to a Liberty Tree article, during the 2008 renovation of The Libertonian, Cleethorpes provided workers from his payroll to aid in the process. He did this because he felt that simply donating an entire wing of the museum was not enough. In the article, he expressed that as a child, he had walked through the building and believed that having his name associated with every wing would be a great testament to humanity. Finally, the article praises Cleethorpes, claiming that Liberty City only survives because of the generosity of philanthropists like him.
In a Weazel News radio broadcast, it is revealed that Mayor Julio Ochoa thanked the Cleethorpes family for their donation. As a display of goodwill, he promised not to check the immigration status of the workers they supplied for the project. The news anchor confirms that Cleethorpes supplies forced labor.
Later, despite Cleethorpes' playboy image and his model girlfriends, he was caught in a compromising position with a Brazilian man inside a Dukes truck stop restroom. After removing a ball gag from his mouth, he told police that they are old friends who were applying sunblock.

Cleethorpes is based on Josh Astor and David Mayer de Rothschild, both young surviving members of the world's two richest families of the 1800s. The Cleethorpes Tower bears significant resemblance to the Trump Tower owned by businessman Donald Trump. Also, Donald Trump Jr. and Lyle share a birth year, meaning that Lyle could be inspired by Donald Trump's eldest son. The fact that Lyle is a young businessman much like Trump's five children further supports this idea.
