Images Patrol group
  +
This is something I had in mind for a long time; we all know the image policy Jeff wrote a few months ago (well, at least the staff here knows about that policy), but, did anyone follow it? NO! And why's that, a simple answer - there's no one who keeps an eye on the recent images uploaded to that site (well, except from me, but I had enough with being the only one to do so).
  +
  +
Now, I was thinking on creating a special... unit consisting users who will often check the Special:Newimages. These users will be either admins, patrollers, or trusted editors who once locate an image that doesn't follow the policy, will inform the uploader with the policy. If the 'Image patrol' member has no admin rights (i.e changing files' names), then he/she will ask from an admin to do so.

Deleting templates
  +
This is for staff. If a page is deleted I think you'll all agree that any links to that page should also be removed. I think this is particularly true in the case of templates. For example the 'Expand' template was deleted for a valid reason, however now we have been left with 40 pages which all have a red link at the top of the article. This looks very messy and unprofessional so I think it's of out best interests to remove these red links as soon as the template is deleted.
  +
  +
If anyone has an issue locating all the pages with the red links on then this page should help. It would also be appreciated if anyone who has recently deleted a template would assist me in removing the red links. <font size="+1.5" face="Trajan Pro"><b>Tom</b></font> <u>Talk</u>

Repromotion of staff who resigned the tools
  +
  +
This is something that Dan (Messi1983) and I discussed when I asked to be repromoted to bureaucrat. In short, we think it's probably dishonest for staff to resign and then ask to be repromoted without going through a vote. As it stands right now, ironically, Dan, The Tom and myself have done that one time each, and Dan suggested it's time to make an official proposal, which will go something like this.
  +
  +
:If a member of GTA Staff decides to resign their user rights while in good standing, they are free to reapply for promotion, but they must request repromotion through an official community vote rather than directly to a bureaucrat.

Related Videos
  +
  +
I received a message about this Wiki trying out a new Wikia feature, here it is:
  +
  +
:I wanted to let you know we have a new related video product that’s going to bring even more amazing content to Wikia. We’re hoping that your community will be one of the first to try this new feature and give us feedback. In return, we’ll be spotlighting wikis that are part of our video pilot program.
  +
  +
:This unique video showcase is designed to play videos related to the content on your wiki, giving you and your community complete control to add or remove videos by each individual placement of the related videos product.
  +
  +
:It’s easy. All you need to do is select videos from a growing library of content provided by Wikia and partners such as Screenplay (Hulu, IGN and more coming soon) or you can add videos from YouTube and other supported video hosting sites. Viewers can scroll through and watch the entire selection, and logged in users can contribute to it.
  +
  +
:You can see an example of how the related videos product works on Moviepedia here: http://movies.wikia.com/wiki/The_Artist. The module is in the right rail. You can also browse our selection of Grand Theft Auto videos to choose from here (more to come): link.
  +
  +
:Alternately, Wikia can give you a head start by placing a pre-populated video module with relevant staff picks on your wiki. You and your community still have complete control to adjust what is presented in the related video showcase.
  +
  +
:We look forward to hearing your suggestions on how to make this product one of our best. Please respond as soon as possible to let us know if you want to be a part of this pilot program.
  +
  +
I like the idea and I'm all for trying this out but before I agree to anything I'd like the communities opinion so leave a vote and a comment below.

Userboxes
  +
I'm pretty sure this is where I should post this. I think that we should have an actual section (possibly on this page) where some users can request a Userbox to be made. For example, I've seen many users sporting ps3 and Xbox 360 Userboxes. But what about my PS2? I still play it regularly and I think many people do, yet there's no user box. I don't have the experience to do it and don't really understand the coding. It's fine if it'll be to hard, as it probably takes ages just to make 1 box. This is just a proposition. == Demotion policy ==
  +
  +
Because this is a very active wiki, we need plenty of people helping out with staff work. But Wikia doesn't like a wiki to have too many admins - if you remember they pretty much told us "no more administrators" after we promoted Haruhi and GTANiko. So having administrators go inactive hurts this wiki.
  +
  +
I would like to propose that anyone who doesn't edit for 90 days have their staff rights revoked so that we can keep a large core of active staff. It should be made clear that inactivity-demotion is not a "punishment" or a "declaration of wrong-doing", and editors who were inactivity-demoted should feel free to request a repromotion should they decide to start editing again. <b>Jeff</b> (talk|stalk) 23:53, February 21, 2012 (UTC)
  +
  +
:I agree to an extent. But I propose that users be messaged first before any demotion action takes place, as it usually clarifies two things.
  +
  +
:# They usually reply and tell us why they are inactive.
  +
:# If they do not reply within a week or two, it pretty much clarifies they're not coming back. Messi1983 13:59, February 24, 2012 (UTC)
  +
  +
::Gotta disagree there based on prior experience. Administrators don't like having their powers revoked even if they never use them. Remember Crescendospectredragon throwing a fit when we demoted him even after he said he didn't plan to edit here because there was nothing for him to do? <b>Jeff</b> (talk|stalk) 22:27, February 24, 2012 (UTC)
  +
  +
:::Let me explain in more detail my friend.
  +
  +
:::When I say message, I do not mean sending a message saying they're going to be demoted due to inactivity. I mean a message asking them why they're inactive and if they have any plans to edit here in the near future as there is always a perfectly good explanation to inactivity.
  +
  +
:::That way when they reply we get an explanation on their inactivity, and when they don't reply, then you know they're not coming back, despite the fact Wikia tells everyone they have a new message on you talkpage on a certain wiki everywhere.
  +
  +
:::If they do reply, well we'll watch them for a few weeks as they may think "my tools are safe, so I do not need to edit here for the time being".
  +
  +
:::If they never replied, then I think that is time to demote them until they come back, and if they never come back, well the tools are lost and someone else can have them.
  +
  +
:::But I also have another proposal, and this is more to do with people being voted in getting promoted, rather then demotion. I propose, that when this wiki has voted a user in to be a patroller or admin, then rather it being a permanent thing, we give them a trial run first, as some users just do 2 or 3 days of editing with new tools and then seem to go AWOL. Messi1983 02:18, February 25, 2012 (UTC)
  +
  +
::I reckon that the inactivity limit should definitely be 90 days. But I also think that any patroller or admin that is going to be demoted should be messaged first on their user talk. They have a right to know before they get back on the computer after 90 days just to find that they have 'randomly' been demoted. If they do not reply after 14 days of the message being posted. Then they should definitely be demoted, as they obviously are just taking up room that newer editors could fill by becoming admin or patroller. Naming section is something I am not keen on with it. What I do agree with always is the licensing menu. I think that should be kept always. But the naming needs to go as people will not follow it well. Users do not deserve to get warned just for naming an image wrong. What we can do is rename the image ourselves, rather then rouse users for naming it wrong. Dan the Man 1983 01:06, November 12, 2011 (UTC)

So I'd like to get a GTAMyths wiki started by someone who likes myths, and then make it an official affiliate of this wiki and then make it official policy to direct myth-hunter traffic to the GTAMyths wiki instead of writing about myths here. <b>Jeff</b> (talk|stalk) 16:48, October 16, 2011 (UTC)

Game Infobox Merging and MediaWiki Stuffs
  +
Hello all,
  +
My name is Adam, resident geek programmer and stuff here on the GTA Wiki. I've recently begun to edit more frequently here, and even removed my templated userpage to something more personalized, seeing as how I'm going to be making more than a few edits here. One of those edits I'd like to make (which would be more like 20 or so) is merging all the episode/game installment infobox templates, such as Grand Theft Auto 2/infobox, into one template which would be easier to use. It is now available (the coding and usage guidelines) at User:Adam Savage/InfoboxTest, and can be found being tested on User:Adam Savage/pageTest. If implemented, I'd be more than happy to do all the conversion work myself. Now, onto the MediaWiki stuffs. I noticed that we really don't have anything in our .js or .css files. Now, there are some neat (not to mention helpful) toys out there which can be used for any Wiki. Just check out this page on my Wiki, as well as this page. The former has neat tools like adding a clock to the bar at the top of the page, and adding "My Contributions" to the hover menu at your username in the top right of the screen, and the latter allows differentiation between users with rights, such as sysops, crats, staff, helpers, VSTF, etc. and regular users via username hilite. I propose adding both my infobox template, and some of the mediawiki I have on my Wiki to this one, to help make this site better than ever. 01:55, March 5, 2012 (UTC)

Crescendospectredragon demotion (Bureaucrats only vote)

FAILED - Crescendospectredragon demoted

Basically I don't think he should be an Admin, mainly because of this. He hasn't made a main page edit for over a month and even then it was just one edit. He doesn't believe there is anything for him to do which there obviously is. I think there are editors on this Wiki who deserve the position more than him.

Vote yes if you think he should lose his admin rights or no if you think he should remain an admin. Tom Talk 16:38, September 1, 2011 (UTC)

Bunnyjoke demotion (Bureaucrats only vote)

NO ACTION - demotion nomination withdrawn by nominating editor

Okay, the Bureaucrats on here need a discussion and a vote about Bunnyjoke's position as an administrator as I believe he is incompetent for the position for one reason.

Here it is shown that he does not follow and intends not to follow our Blocking Policy.

This is a core policy for Admins to follow and it states that a user is warned only once, before being blocked. Yet Bunnyjoke is willing to warn them twice before blocking them, which shows his incompetence of being an administrator if he cannot simply follow our blocking policy.

Should Bunnyjoke lose his administrator prvilages because he cannot follow one of our core policies?

Vote yes if you feel he should lose his admin rights or vote no if you feel he should keep them. User will be demoted to patroller if a yes vote is in favour.Dan the Man 1983 15:49, September 1, 2011 (UTC)

  • Sorry Bunnyjoke, if you cannot follow our core policy for adminstration, you do not deserve the position, hence why I started this. Nothing personal okay, but it can be given to someone who is willing to follow our policies. Dan the Man 1983 15:49, September 1, 2011 (UTC)
  • Yeah, I know how this vote is gonna end. Dan, I'm not mad at you so don't worry. Jeff I know how you are gonna vote. Things were looking good for me but not anymore. When I do get my rights taken away, I need a break from this place. It's been full of drama and I'm just way too sick of it. That's all I got to say. -Bunny J. Dying to talk to me? 16:12, September 1, 2011 (UTC)
  • I might only demote you to patroller, since out of admin duties, you are a good editor. Dan the Man 1983 16:24, September 1, 2011 (UTC)
  • I don't see why we can't just say read the blocking policy and in future make sure to follow it, I'm sure if we did he would do that, he's a good Admin in my opinion, he may be a little leniant with vandals but like I said we could just tell him to read the Blocking Policy and make sure to follow it. I'm not sure if anyone has done that but that seems like the right first step, going straight to a vote about whether or not he should lose his rights seems a bit extreme. Tom Talk 16:26, September 1, 2011 (UTC)
  • He won't be demoted fully, but rather he will be demoted to patroller. Dan the Man 1983 16:37, September 1, 2011 (UTC)
  • I still think we should ask him to follow the blocking policy, if he doesn't then have a vote but he hasn't even been warned about it. Tom Talk 16:41, September 1, 2011 (UTC)
  • Thanks Tom, but you can't save my ass. Just wait 'till Jeff gets here. I don't want to be potroller. I told you when I get my rights taken away, I'm taking a break. I don't really have much to say, this just sucks. I came here to help out because you guys said you needed admins. I think it's bullshit that I get this when I have done nothing bad, and Jeff pulls this shit and nothing happens. I can't believe it. All you had to do was tell me about this policy that you two make-up as you go along. I'm sorry Dan, but I think you're doing this just to get the heat off of Jeff. I would follow the policy if I get to keep my rights but I can see saying that is not gonna change anyone's mind. Thanks for making me an admin, though. -Bunny J. Dying to talk to me? 16:42, September 1, 2011 (UTC)
  • Since you have stated you will follow our blocking policy, this is now void. We'll talk about you and Jeff on another talkpage. Dan the Man 1983 16:50, September 1, 2011 (UTC)

Trivia

CLOSED
As the vote was to allow only good trivia, no changes need to be made as the Trivia Policy expressly permits good trivia while forbidding bunk and cruft

I know that McJeff is removing the Trivia sections because Wikia don't like them and there not really supposed to be on the wiki but before I became an editor and was just a GTA fan reading about my favourite game I enjoyed reading the Trivia sections and I think a lot of readers do. I'm not saying re-add all the Trivia sections, though I would be in favour of that, but maybe rather than everyone just removing them could people add the Trivia to the article in the chracater's biography or something rather than just getting rid of it all together. Anyway thats my thoughts, could you leave a comment stating your thoughts of the Trivia section, thanks. Tom Talk 14:47, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

Below leave a vote, Stay if you think Trivia sections should stay and Go if you think they should go.

  • Well, I like the trivia as it is. I think it's fine the way it is, as long as the trivia is true and isn't someone just adding their opinions. -Bunny J. Dying to talk to me? 15:09, August 25, 2011 (UTC)
  • Another thing, on pretty much every page on every other wiki there is a Trivia section, why are we the only ones enforcing this Wikia rule? Tom Talk 19:01, August 25, 2011 (UTC)
  • If you guys actually want to try to clean up and integrate the trivia sections back into the article that's fine by me, but we're not having miles long trivia lists full of the-sky-is-blue trivia. McJeff (talk this way)/(stalk this way) 19:02, August 25, 2011 (UTC)
  • Honestly I want the trivia sections back, they could do with a bit of cleaning up but some of the facts in the trivia sections of pages are quite interesting and I think readers like them, and like I said we seem to be the only wiki which is getting rid of them. Tom Talk 19:05, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

I liked trivia sections and changed the rules on Bully Wiki to allow them. About a year later I got sick of them and started integrating trivia back into the articles because most of the trivia was bunk/useless/garbage/obvious/wrong, and because when there's a trivia section around people never actually improve the article, they just post onto the end of the trivia section.

Let me use, for example, Ray Bulgarin, and the trivia in his article. The trivia I deleted in normal, my points in bold.

  • Bulgarin's appearance has changed significantly from GTA IV to The Ballad of Gay Tony. In The Ballad of Gay Tony, his skin tone has changed to a more pale color and his hair color is much darker. Much more detail was also added to his face and he wears a different outfit. Should have been mentioned in the main article.
  • Bulgarin is the only associate of Dimitri other than The Killer that wasn't betrayed by him in the GTA IV storyline. Bunk/garbage/obvious
  • Ray Bulgarin, Massimo Torini and Dimitri Rascalov are the only main antagonists who don't appear in the introduction of their games. Bunk/garbage
  • Bulgarin is the only antagonist in the GTA series to be enemies with two protagonists, Niko Bellic and Luis Lopez. Bunk/garbage
  • Bulgarin is the only GTA IV era antagonist who doesn't disappear after his betrayal. Probably bunk/garbage, so poorly written I don't even know what the person who added it is trying to say.
  • Bulgarin seemed to be a very powerful and dangerous man, as Niko said in GTA IV. This is also shown in the TBOGT mission Departure Time, where Ray sends numerous thugs and associates in an attempt to kill Luis, but he himself ends up getting killed by Luis. Bunk/garbage/obvious
  • Bulgarin's surname in Russian means 'Bulgarian', which is ironic because Ray is Russian. Should be listed in the lede or somewhere else in the article, not in a trivia section.
  • Niko pronounces his surname as 'Bolgarin' as it's spelled in Russian, while the others pronounce it as it's written. Wrong, Niko has an accent
  • On libertycitypolice.com in GTA IV, Ray is listed as 'deceased' even before the final mission which supposedly takes place either before, or at the same time with the final mission of TBOGT, where Ray is actually killed. However, Timur mentions Dimitri's death during that mission, meaning it actually takes place after the final mission of GTA IV. Incoherent/useless
  • Niko tells Packie in GTA IV that he has intentions of going after Bulgarin following Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend (only if Pest Control has been completed first), but Bulgarin would be killed by Luis in TBOGT. This is similiar to Johnny Klebitz, as he told Thomas Stubbs that he had intentions of going after Ray Boccino, who would later be killed by Niko in GTA IV. Incoherent/useless
  • Bulgarin is the only main antagonist in the GTA series who was introduced in a different game than the one he served as an antagonist in, as he first appears in the mission Russian Revolution in GTA IV. Bunk/garbage/obvious

This is the way all the trivia sections in all the articles are. Almost every single thing written in them is useless, and even though a few things there aren't useless the sections are still doing more harm than good because they encourage users to put everything in them and never improve the actual article. McJeff (talk this way)/(stalk this way) 19:26, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

  • Just because you view most trivia points as bunk/garbage does not mean that others do. Also where is this rule on Wikia that states you cannot have trivia points, cause I must have missed it. Trivia sections are good for good information that cannot be intergrated into the article, so I say yes to keeping them. If you feel a point has been deleted that should have not been, then be BOLD and add it. Dan the Man 1983 20:28, August 25, 2011 (UTC)
  • Rather than just deleting the trivia which you say should be in the article why don't you put it in the article? Also I agree with the points Dan has made. Tom Talk 21:28, August 25, 2011 (UTC)
  • I've set up a vote to see what people want to do. I think we should keep the Trivia sections but just delete the "bad" trivia and put the facts that could be included in the article into the article, and basically just be a lot more strict as to what we allow in the trivia sections. 21:33, August 25, 2011 (UTC)
  • I didn't know there would be a vote on this, but I'm glad there is so I can vote for the trivia to stay. -Bunny J. Dying to talk to me? 14:48, August 26, 2011 (UTC)
  • I think that the trivia is very useful, but we can put these information in the actual article. I vote "Stay". -- Ilan xd 15:27, August 26, 2011 (UTC)
  • I don't know if I agree with Ilan, I think it's fine the way it is. -Bunny J. Dying to talk to me? 05:01, August 27, 2011 (UTC)
  • I think trivias should stay. Because it makes the article more interesting to read and checking the trivia it's better than scanning the entire page to find the info you've been looking for. And the trivial facts make the players to understand the character/mission much better (of course useless facts or personal opinions shouldn't be written). For exampe I didn't knew that Niko told Packie of having intentions of going after Bulgarin because I've never completed that mission after Pest Control. I first saw it here, thanks to Trivia. So I voted for Stay. -Uchiha.Sasuke.B 20:13, August 27, 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I'm asking if anyone here would like a new favicon (the icon next to the web address). I have asked Tom for his suggestions, so I have posted two .ico photos. The photos are so small that the preview is unavailable, please right click and open to see the full size. They are here and here, or you can vote for the current one. Please select which one or suggest another design. And please note that I used a png to icon converter, so I gues it is supposed to be of this size. Thanks GTANiKoTalk 13:29, July 11, 2011 (UTC)

Fix of the background image

Hello, sorry for the long period of inactivity, I am quite busy. I was wondering if it is good to fix the background image? Weapon Template

Guys, I was thinking that maybe we should add a weapon template to the weapon pages. It would say things like, how much damage it can do, how heavy it is, how much ammo it can hold, available from, price and... ummm... if you can think of anything else that should go into the template, let me know. I was planning on making it the same color as the character template and my radio station template. I guess that's it. Leave a vote and a comment below. Images Patrol group

This is for staff. If a page is deleted I think you'll all agree that any links to that page should also be removed. I think this is particularly true in the case of templates. For example the 'Expand' template was deleted for a valid reason, however now we have been left with 40 pages which all have a red link at the top of the article. This looks very messy and unprofessional so I think it's of out best interests to remove these red links as soon as the template is deleted.

If anyone has an issue locating all the pages with the red links on then this page should help. It would also be appreciated if anyone who has recently deleted a template would assist me in removing the red links. Tom Talk

Repromotion of staff who resigned the tools

This is something that Dan (Messi1983) and I discussed when I asked to be repromoted to bureaucrat. In short, we think it's probably dishonest for staff to resign and then ask to be repromoted without going through a vote. As it stands right now, ironically, Dan, The Tom and myself have done that one time each, and Dan suggested it's time to make an official proposal, which will go something like this.

If a member of GTA Staff decides to resign their user rights while in good standing, they are free to reapply for promotion, but they must request repromotion through an official community vote rather than directly to a bureaucrat.

Thoughts? Jeff (talk|stalk) 00:56, April 19, 2012 (UTC)

Agreed totally, not because it was my proposal, but because it is only fair and the only right way of doing this. Messi1983 14:13, April 19, 2012 (UTC)
I agree, if a staff member resigns it makes sense for them to have to request a promotion again rather than just automatically get their rights back. Tom Talk 15:55, April 19, 2012 (UTC)

Related Videos

I received a message about this Wiki trying out a new Wikia feature, here it is:

I wanted to let you know we have a new related video product that’s going to bring even more amazing content to Wikia. We’re hoping that your community will be one of the first to try this new feature and give us feedback. In return, we’ll be spotlighting wikis that are part of our video pilot program.
This unique video showcase is designed to play videos related to the content on your wiki, giving you and your community complete control to add or remove videos by each individual placement of the related videos product.
It’s easy.
You can see an example of how the related videos product works on Moviepedia here: http://movies.wikia.com/wiki/The_Artist. The module is in the right rail. You can also browse our selection of Grand Theft Auto videos to choose from here (more to come): link.
Alternately, Wikia can give you a head start by placing a pre-populated video module with relevant staff picks on your wiki. You and your community still have complete control to adjust what is presented in the related video showcase.
We look forward to hearing your suggestions on how to make this product one of our best. Please respond as soon as possible to let us know if you want to be a part of this pilot program.

I like the idea and I'm all for trying this out but before I agree to anything I'd like the communities opinion so leave a vote and a comment below.

Userboxes

I'm pretty sure this is where I should post this. I think that we should have an actual section (possibly on this page) where some users can request a Userbox to be made. For example, I've seen many users sporting ps3 and Xbox 360 Userboxes. But what about my PS2? I still play it regularly and I think many people do, yet there's no user box. I don't have the experience to do it and don't really understand the coding. It's fine if it'll be to hard, as it probably takes ages just to make 1 box. This is just a proposition. Demotion policy

Because this is a very active wiki, we need plenty of people helping out with staff work. But Wikia doesn't like a wiki to have too many admins - if you remember they pretty much told us "no more administrators" after we promoted Haruhi and GTANiko. So having administrators go inactive hurts this wiki.

Jeff (talk|stalk) 23:53, February 21, 2012 (UTC)

I agree to an extent. But I propose that users be messaged first before any demotion action takes place, as it usually clarifies two things.
  1. They usually reply and tell us why they are inactive.
  2. If they do not reply within a week or two, it pretty much clarifies they're not coming back. Messi1983 13:59, February 24, 2012 (UTC)
Gotta disagree there based on prior experience. Administrators don't like having their powers revoked even if they never use them. Remember Crescendospectredragon throwing a fit when we demoted him even after he said he didn't plan to edit here because there was nothing for him to do? Jeff (talk|stalk) 22:27, February 24, 2012 (UTC)
Let me explain in more detail my friend.
When I say message, I do not mean sending a message saying they're going to be demoted due to inactivity. I mean a message asking them why they're inactive and if they have any plans to edit here in the near future as there is always a perfectly good explanation to inactivity.
That way when they reply we get an explanation on their inactivity, and when they don't reply, then you know they're not coming back, despite the fact Wikia tells everyone they have a new message on you talkpage on a certain wiki everywhere.
If they do reply, well we'll watch them for a few weeks as they may think "my tools are safe, so I do not need to edit here for the time being".
If they never replied, then I think that is time to demote them until they come back, and if they never come back, well the tools are lost and someone else can have them.
But I also have another proposal, and this is more to do with people being voted in getting promoted, rather then demotion. I propose, that when this wiki has voted a user in to be a patroller or admin, then rather it being a permanent thing, we give them a trial run first, as some users just do 2 or 3 days of editing with new tools and then seem to go AWOL. I reckon that the inactivity limit should definitely be 90 days. Message Walls

Anyone think we should activate the new Message Wall feature? The L.A. Noire Wiki, which I am a Bureaucrat on, was one of the test Wiki's so if you want to check it out go to the Wiki and have a look. I personally prefer them to talk pages simply because they're easier.

  • Talk pages are better and this is not facebook, myspace, or any other social networking site, and this message wall crap is daft. Messi1983 20:44, January 28, 2012 (UTC)
  • if I had my way (which I don't), I'd make people learn to respond and format their talk pages properly, like everyone who got their editing start on wikipedia knows. Message Walls were conceived of in the first place because of all the kids using Wikia who don't know how to use talk pages, and are just an example of Wikia Staff not wanting to put actual work into making sure people know how to edit. • Sorry bro. You know that I support most of your ideas, but this one is something I can't. -- Ilan (XDEditsHome ) 13:16, April 3, 2012 (UTC)
  • Gotta agree with Dan. RusselNorthrop(Talk2Me--Contribs) 08:59, April 7, 2012 (UTC)

Image Policy

I think the Image Policy is a bit ridiculous, specifically I'm referring to the "Image names" section, that seems slightly pointless to me and it is very extreme, deleting an image because the name isn't quite right seems outrageous to me.

I think the community should get a say on this policy so leave your thoughts about the image policy below. Tom Talk 01:09, November 12, 2011 (UTC)

The licensing menu should be kept and I've been making sure all the images I add have been properly licensed, though I have been having problems with it but that was just a Wikia glitch. It's just the naming section that I have a problem with. Lots of images are added to this site and very few are named "correctly" according to the image policy, it would take too long ro rename them all and considering most of the images aren't named badly it would seem like a waste of time.Tom Talk 01:08, November 12, 2011 (UTC)
I am not saying rename them all, I am saying rename those uploaded that are named wrong rather then warning the user who uploaded it for naming it wrong. Dan the Man 1983 01:15, November 12, 2011 (UTC)
I wasn't saying that you were saying rename them all, I was just saying that the majority of images uploaded are not named correctly according to the naming section so it would be a lot of rather unnecessary work. I think renaming the really badly named images and leaving the ones which aren't badly named, but are still named incorrectly according to the Image policy, would be a better option. I think it is time we helped people more on here rather then rouse them for every mistake made. People do not want to edit on a wiki where you get warned and blocked for making mistakes.
If editors come here and do malicious edits such as vandalism, spamming, and harrassing others, then yeah that is a time to act and warn them, or if the occassion arises, block them for policy violation. Dan the Man 1983 01:29, November 12, 2011 (UTC)
I agree with that, I think we're too harsh on users that make a simple mistake, this will just cause us to lose potentially good editors. Tom Talk 01:32, November 12, 2011 (UTC)
I also think we need 2 or 3 more admins. Dan the Man 1983 03:04, November 12, 2011 (UTC)

Discussion on Myths

I'd like to encourage an interested someone to start a wiki for GTA Myths. Called, I dunno, gtamyths.wikia.com maybe. Some people here like to write about myths and I (and other administrators as well) have been deleting myth-related content here. However there's no rule about it.

So I'd like to get a GTAMyths wiki started by someone who likes myths, and then make it an official affiliate of this wiki and then make it official policy to direct myth-hunter traffic to the GTAMyths wiki instead of writing about myths here. Jeff (talk|stalk) 16:48, October 16, 2011 (UTC)

  • There is already a GTAMyths Wiki. -- Ilan xd 12:46, December 3, 2011 (UTC)
    • Yes but it's abandoned. Anyone who had the interest to start editing that wiki could adopt it and make it good. Jeff (talk|stalk) 21:32, January 28, 2012 (UTC)
  • I think it time a written policy was added about myths. Messi1983 (talk) 22:37, November 19, 2012 (UTC)

Game Infobox Merging and MediaWiki Stuffs

Hello all, My name is Adam, resident geek programmer and stuff here on the GTA Wiki.
