This page documents the Official Policy of the GTA Wiki.
It concerns standards that all users should follow.

Wikilawyering is a pejorative term which describes various questionable ways of judging other editors' actions.

Insofar as GTA Wiki is concerned, wikilawyering means an attempt to use the rules against the spirit they were written in, including but not limited to...

  • An excessively strict or technical interpretation of the rules.
  • Abiding by the letter of a rule while violating its spirit - in other words, using the text of the rule to attempt to subvert the rule's intended purpose.
  • Attempting to justify unacceptable behavior with claims that there isn't a specific rule forbidding it.

Wikilawyering has, thankfully, rarely been an issue on GTA Wiki, but it is still a rule violation and as such, blockable.
