These major heists typically begin with a meeting of the three protagonists: Michael, Franklin, and Trevor. The player is presented with options on how to approach the proposed mission. For example, you could enter a building stealthily from the roof, or bust through the front door. The complex missions require the help of specialists. These are wheelmans, hired guns, or hackers. You have cheap and expensive options. The drawback to hiring an expert is they demand a bigger cut of the take. Once you have some clear objectives and hire the specialists you require, you must perform a series of sub-missions. These includes: stealing the vehicles being used for the job, finding a place to stash the getaway vehicle, and buying some suits and masks to wear during the heist. It appears that an achievement/ trophy will be unlocked for each heist that is completed.

In Grand Theft Auto V, the major heists typically begin with a meeting of the three protagonists: Michael De Santa, Franklin Clinton, and Trevor Philips. The player is presented with options on how to approach the proposed mission. For example, they could choose to enter a building stealthily from the roof, or burst through the front door. The complex missions require the help of specialists. These are drivers, gunmen, or hackers. The player has cheap and expensive options, however the drawback to hiring an expert is they demand a bigger cut of the take, but picking a crew member taking smaller cuts means they might not be as good until they are used. Once the player has some clear objectives and hires the specialists they require, they must perform a series of sub-missions. These include: stealing vehicles which carry equipment being used for the job (like weaponry, knockout gas, intercepting vehicles or emergency vehicles for disguising the player), finding a place to stash the Getaway Vehicle, and buying some suits and masks to wear during the heist. ==Heists in HD Universe==
In GTA Online, heists are available as in-game co-operative missions. Heists can take place in many buildings, such as gas stations, banks and jewellery stores. Players can run into the store, pull out a gun, and aim at the shop keeper. The interesting thing is that when a player talks into the microphone, his in-game mouth will move, meaning if you shout something such as "put the money in the bag!", the in-game AI will respond and do what you said, the angrier you sound, the more scared they'll be. Afterwards, the player in charge during the heist gets to decide how much money each person gets, meaning they could take $10,000 for themself, whilst giving another person $10. The others can then decide if their amount is fair. If they don't believe it's fair, they can kill the player in charge and take the money for themselves.

Heists Update
  +
  +
In Grand Theft Auto Online, heists were released on March 10th, 2015 in the Heists Update.
  +
  +
Heists are complex missions similar to the Heists from Story Mode involving a crew, a target and splitting a reward. A heist will require between 2 and 4 players at rank 12 or above, with one as designated Heist Leader. The Leader must also own a high-end apartment so they'd have a room to set up the planning board. Once the player has reached the required level and purchased an appropriate apartment, Story Mode planner Lester Crest will contact the player by text and follow up phone call introducing the heist concept. The player meets with Lester at his Garment factory. This will launch the tutorial heist The Fleeca Job which only requires two players.
  +
  +
After completing the first heist, Lester will introduce a new character who will contact the player directly when a new heist is available, and the leader can invite players into the crew, assign positions, pick outfits and allocate each player’s cut. On the other hand, the heist leader will need to personally front the set-up costs in order to successfully pull off the heist. Unlike the leader, other crew members get a cash payout for each prep mission, wheras the leader won’t receive their cash until the finale is complete.
  +
  +
Some missions have all players working as one unit, some require players to take on specific tasks like hacking or crowd control, while others require players to split into smaller teams to complete separate high value objectives. There are five heists, each with their own setup missions.
  +
  +
*The Fleeca Job: A introductory heist for two players involving stealing bonds from a safety deposit box from the Great Ocean Highway Fleeca Bank for Lester Crest.
  +
*The Prison Break: The second heist, and the first requiring a full crew of four players, involves a complicated plan to spring a prisoner from Bolingbroke Penitentiary.
  +
*The Humane Labs Raid: A heist involving raiding Humane Labs and Research, similar to the single player mission Monkey Business.
  +
*Series A Funding: A heist involving collecting various drug packages for Trevor and then helping Trevor deliver them to his drug deal at the El Gordo Lighthouse.
  +
*The Pacific Standard Job: The final heist involving robbing the Pacific Standard Bank.
  +
  +
Bonus Rewards
  +
Along with each heist reward, the player can get additional cash depending on how he completed the heist. The possible bonus rewards are:
  +
  +
*Complete each heist finale for the first time, bonus of $100,000.
  +
*Complete all heist setups and finales in order, bonus of $1,000,000 (All in Order Challenge).
  +
*Complete all heist setups and finales with the same team, bonus of $1,000,000 (Loyalty Challenge).
  +
*Complete all heist setups and finales, in order, with the same team and without losing any lives, bonus of $10,000,000 (Criminal Mastermind Challenge).

Completing all Elite Challenges in one single heist, reward the player with an additional $100,000 in that heist. Completing all Elite Challenges in all five heists reward the player with exclusive t-shirts (reference to the GTA Vice City 100% t-shirt). This challenges are:

"Petty crimes, hustling and stealing cars can only get you so far in Los Santos. To score big, Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will work together to pull off grand heists - big, multi-part missions that require careful preparation, recruiting, and precise (and often explosive) execution. Cash is king in GTA V, and while there will be plenty of ways to acquire and spend it, heists are the way to earn the big bucks."
GTA V Website

Heists are elaborate story missions in first introduced in Grand Theft Auto Vice City, in The Job. (although The Getaway in Grand Theft Auto III already presented a major heist) There are many of these missions spread across the series, each requiring careful preparation and execution. If the player successfully completes these jobs, they can earn millions of dollars. In GTA V, the ability to replay these missions also exists.

OverviewEdit

Heists, in the conventional term, have appeared in several Grand Theft Auto games as straightforward missions, but take on a bigger dimension in Grand Theft Auto V. An achievement/trophy will be unlocked for each heist when completed.

Main article: Heists Update

In Grand Theft Auto Online, heists were released on March 10th, 2015 in the Heists Update.

Some missions have all players working as one unit, some require players to take on specific tasks like hacking or crowd control, while others require players to split into smaller teams to complete separate high value objectives. There are five heists, each with their own setup missions.

Bonus RewardsEdit

Along with each heist reward, the player can get additional cash depending on how he completed the heist. The possible bonus rewards are:

 • Complete each heist finale for the first time, bonus of $100,000.
 • Complete all heist setups and finales in order, bonus of $1,000,000 (All in Order Challenge).
 • Complete all heist setups and finales with the same team, bonus of $1,000,000 (Loyalty Challenge).
 • Complete all heist setups and finales, in order, with the same team and without losing any lives, bonus of $10,000,000 (Criminal Mastermind Challenge).
