The Vapid Police Cruiser, commonly referred to by the community as the Interceptor, is a law enforcement sedan appearing in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online and due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI.
Description[]
Grand Theft Auto V and Online[]
The Police Cruiser is the primary pursuit vehicle utilized by the Los Santos Police Department, spawning most frequently during Wanted Levels in Los Santos. It can occasionally be found at police stations or patrolling the city, but is most often found pursuing the player or NPCs.
Grand Theft Auto VI[]
The Police Cruiser is due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI, now operated by a variety of police departments, including the Vice City Police Department and Vice-Dale Police Department, as seen during the game's first trailer, as well as the Port Gellhorn Police Department, which can be seen in the Grand Theft Auto VI September 2022 leaks[1].
Influence[]
Grand Theft Auto V and Online[]
The Police Cruiser is primarily based on the Ford Police Interceptor Sedan, while the taillights resemble those of the FG Ford Falcon and the headlight casing shape is likely inspired by the Carbon Motors E7 Concept. The "POLICE" lettering decals on the sides of the car also resembles that of the Carbon Motors E7. The overall lighting set-up and placement of the sirens is inspired by the 2011 Ford Police Interceptor Sedan concept car, with the only exception being the main lightbar on the roof, which uses the same red & blue LED light bar as other police vehicles in the game.
Design[]
Grand Theft Auto V and Online[]
It shares its siren sounds with all other LSPD police vehicles in the game, with the main tone as an edited Federal Signal PA20A, and the yelp and priority tone/speed wail as an edited Galls Roadmaster.
The car features a black and white color scheme, with large "POLICE" lettering on either side and the unit number on the roof, and is equipped with a red and blue roof-mounted LED light bar. It also features a A-pillar mounted spotlight, functional with the vehicle's high-beams, which can be broken off in a collision.
The interior contains shotgun/rifle mounts on the console, a radio, and a steel mesh partition that separates the front and back seats. In the enhanced versions of the game, the vehicle's interior is shared with a number of sedans, such as the Stanier, Police Cruiser and Fugitive. In the original versions of the game, a computer terminal featuring the Liberty City Police database menu was present in the interior, but was removed in the enhanced release.
The car uses black wheels with chrome center caps, shared with the FIB Buffalo.

Performance[]
Grand Theft Auto V and Online[]
The Police Cruiser is powered by a 4-cylinder engine, coupled with a 5-speed gearbox in a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. features good acceleration compared to most sedans, far better than the Stanier-based model. Acceleration, braking and handling are good, but durability is poor. The engine cannot sustain as much damage as that of the Stanier-based model, and the vehicle deforms easily, especially around the front wheels. The engine sound is shared with the Buffalo and its police variant.

Trivia[]
Grand Theft Auto V[]
- Killing the driver of the Police Cruiser will cause a normal car horn to blare, instead of the usual police horn. This appears to be the case with all police vehicles.
- Prior to the Heists update, the player could change the "livery" of the Police Cruiser in the Creator. The only visible changes were the roof numbers. After the update, this feature was removed. The default number is always 32.
- In the original PS3/Xbox 360 version of the game, the on-board computer inside the Police Cruiser features the LCPD database screen.
- The Police Cruiser features unused customization options, including several hood, front and rear bumper, skirts and pushbar options. As most police vehicles cannot be modified at Los Santos Customs or other mod shops, they cannot be normally obtained.
Bugs/Glitches[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
- Like other emergency vehicles, if a player is driving the Police Cruiser with a distorted siren, other players will hear the non-distorted siren until the player gets within range of another player.
- The rear Vapid badge partially clips through the trunk.
- In the enhanced version of the game, a small portion of the rear driver's side door is improperly textured, resulting in a small section of the "POLICE" text being missing.
- The model lacks some data values (inertia) within its collision mesh, causing it to feel very lightweight with its handling compared to other vehicles of its class.
