Johnny Hawthorn is a character in the Grand Theft Auto series who appears as one of the selectable protagonists in Grand Theft Auto: London 1969 and Grand Theft Auto: London 1961.
History[]
Background[]
For an overview of the GTA London Protagonist's entire history and plot details, see here.
As the game follows one storyline, if Sid is chosen as the protagonist, he will follow the same story as the other selectable protagonists, including committing the same crimes and murders, and having the same relationships with the Crisp Twins, Jack Parkinson, Harold Cartwright and Her Majesty's Secret Service.
Character[]
Appearance[]
Hawthorn is styled after the Rocker sub-culture which rivalled the mods. He bears resemblance to Johnny Cash, but with Elvis sideburns and the demeanour of James Dean.
The only difference between Hawthorn and the other protagonists is the in-game appearance (clothes, hair and skin). Like the other protagonists, he wears bell-bottom pants during his GTA London 1969 appearance.
Also like the other protagonists, Hawthorn's default name can be changed by the player on the character selection menu. This feature is also used to activate cheat codes in the game.

Trivia[]
- Johnny Hawthorn along with the other GTA London Protagonists and Franklin Clinton are currently the only protagonists in the series who appear as playable characters during the storyline of two different Grand Theft Auto titles.
- According to a January 2001 exclusive Grand Theft Auto III world premiere found in PlayStation 2 Official Magazine (UK) Issue 3, Dan Houser had plans to bring back some of the characters from GTA London to the 3D Universe. However, it is unknown if he was referring to the GTA London Protagonists.
- He is one of six protagonists in the Grand Theft Auto series to share his name with another protagonist. In this instance, it is Johnny Klebitz from The Lost and Damned. Other instances are Mike and Michael De Santa from Grand Theft Auto Advance and Grand Theft Auto V, and Claude Speed & Claude from Grand Theft Auto 2 and Grand Theft Auto III, respectively.
