Description[]

The station is hosted by Karl Lagerfeld. It plays Disco, Early House and Electro, and it is the "sister station" of IF99.

Deleted Songs[]

Within the "american.gxt" file found in The Lost and Damned, there exists an entry for a song titled "Body Music" performed by an unknown band named Testers[2]. Further details from the file "EP1_RADIO_SOUNDS.DAT15"[3] indicate that this song was intended for K109 The Studio and had a duration of approximately 3 minutes and 42 seconds. Despite no known band with the name Testers performing a song with such a title, an inference can be made based on the primary genre of the radio station and information obtained from the Unidisc Music site[4][5], which contributed to the K109 tracklist that the entry may refer to the following song:

The difference in the ZiT label and the band's real name may have been due to a mistake or a pun, since the song was used as a testbed for future episodic additions to the radio.

The "american.gxt" file shows that the following songs were planned for The Ballad of Gay Tony expansion but did not appear in the final game:

The station has a single billboard[15] in GTA IV.

Controversy[]

One of the tracks, "Walk The Night" by the Skatt Brothers was the subject of a rather infamous licensing event. Due to the death of Skatt Brothers lead singer Sean Delaney, Rockstar Games hired a private investigator to track down Delaney's surviving relatives to secure the rights of the track as the company felt that the song was essential to the game.[16]

Trivia[]

  • The logo as well as the name might be a reference to Studio 54. Karl Lagerfeld was among the notable patrons of the club.
  • For an unknown reason, "Can't Live Without Your Love" by Tamiko Jones has an oddity where at the 3:27 timestamp, the right channel will fade out and the rest of the song will only play in the left channel.
  • The interpolation of the KC and the Sunshine Band - "That's the Way (I Like It)" can be heard in some of the K109 The Studio stingers.
