So, Vic, you wanna hear about a little plan that is going to make us three very rich?

Money for Nothing is the first mission in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories given to protagonist Victor Vance by Bryan Forbes from Forbes' apartment in Downtown Vice City.

Mission[]

Victor visits Forbes' apartment to see him and Lance. After an argument, the trio head to the parking lot of the Hoarmount Avenue Church to pick up a decoy van to be used during a drug run. After arriving at a warehouse in Little Haiti, which is being monitored by the police, they drive the van inside. A few minutes later, Vic drives the decoy van back out to lure the police away from Lances and Forbes. Once Lance and Forbes reach their destination with the van containing the drugs, Vic loses his wanted level and the mission is completed.

Mission Objectives[]

In order to complete the mission the player must:

  • Get to the decoy van.
  • Get to the warehouse.
  • Get back in the decoy van.
  • Drive south and away from Lance.
  • The cops are on to you. Don't lose your wanted level.
  • Keep the cops away from Lance.
  • Keep your wanted level until Lance reaches his destination.
  • Lance has made it back to the lockup! Lose the cops!

Reward[]

The reward for completing this mission is $1,500 and the mission Caught as an Act is unlocked if the mission Havana Good Time is completed.

Transcript[]

Transcript
Victor Vance visits Bryan Forbes' Apartment, where he finds Lance Vance talking to Bryan Forbes.
Forbes: Of course, you can't kid a kidder. Hey, Vic!
Victor: Hey.
Lance: Yo, bro, wassup?
Forbes: So, Vic, you wanna hear about a little plan that is going to make us three very rich?
Lance: Very rich.
Victor: So, what's the risk?
Forbes: Well, let me put it like this: you will not be handling any drugs. All I need you to do is keep the cops busy while Lance and I steal some merch' off the scum who brought it into this country.
Lance: The drugs are already here, so we ain't drug trafficking.
Forbes: Exactly! You're just the decoy. All you gotta do is make the police think you're carrying. They can't arrest you for that.
Victor: No, but they can shoot me.
Forbes: Don't be ridiculous!
Lance: Yeah. Come on, man! Come on.
Forbes: Vic, you'll be fine, rich and fine!
Victor: Alright, let's do it.
Lance: Yeah, let's pop.
Victor, Lance and Forbes leave the apartment to find a van located in a parking lot near the Moist Palms Hotel. Upon finding the van, Victor drives it to a warehouse in Little Haiti, behind the Print Works. As they drive the van into the warehouse, two cops watch them over. Victor parks the van next to another van, which is identical except for the color.
Lance: This is gonna be the decoy van. Come on, Vic, you drive.
Victor: This van's the wrong color, Forbes.
Forbes: Relax, it's nothing a little paint can't fix!
Time passes as it shows the decoy van being painted the same color as the drug-filled van.
Lance: This van is good to Van Gogh! (laughs)
Forbes: Yeah, funny... Vic, take the decoy and lead the cops away from here. We'll let you know when we're home free.
Lance and Forbes get into the drug van, while Victor gets into the decoy van and leaves the warehouse, now having the cops on his tail.
Lance: (on radio) Breaker, breaker, what's your twenty?
Victor: For Christ-sake's Lance, speak English.
Lance: (on radio) Uh, yeah... We're on our way. Keep the cops busy.
Victor keeps the cops busy by being a decoy, until Forbes and Lance are more than halfway through.
Lance: (on radio)*We're nearly there. Just a little longer.
*Don't give up, man. Not much further now.
*Hey Bryan, can we stop for a burger?
Victor survives being chased by cops until Forbes and Lance reach their destination.
Lance: (on radio) We're there! Ten-ten, let's do it again, big cowboy. Lose the smokey, Vic. You're all done.
Victor loses the cops.

Post-Mission Pager Message[]

Lance: I don't trust Forbes, man. Meet me up at the Arena...
