The Musket is a shotgun that appears in Independence Day Special DLC for Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online.
Design and Performance
It is primarily designed to resemble the British Land Pattern Musket, a.k.a. "Brown Bess" muskets that were used by the Americans and Great Britain during the Revolutionary War, but it has a curved stock. It has high damage and good range, but suffers from its tedious reload time, leaving the player completely vulnerable to attacks from enemies or other players.

Trivia
- Oddly, even though it's in the Shotgun slot, it uses Sniper Rifle ammo rather than lead balls.
- It is the oldest weapon ever in the GTA series, being 200-300 years old.
- It is classified as a shotgun, even though most muskets were rifles.
- It is the first muzzle-loading firearm in the series.
- The reason that the musket is placed in the shotgun slot but behaves like a sniper rifle is because there's no specific animation to aim correctly, as sniper rifles uses scope and probably the Musket behaves incorrectly if placed with them.
- Though the Musket has a long reload time, it is still unrealistic as a real musket takes roughly 15 to 60 seconds to reload (depending on the user's skill and concentration) as opposed to the in-game musket, which takes about 5 seconds to reload. The player only drops gunpowder and the ball into the barrel without using the stick to push it.
- Given its power and accuracy, it may not be a true musket but instead an early rifle such as the Minie Rifle, having much more penetrating and accurate shots than muskets while still having a similar look and use.
