While in the course of completing the storyline of Grand Theft Auto IV, the player makes a total of seven choices based on the morality of the player. They are listed below:
- Choosing to date Michelle or rescue Roman first.
- Reward: Nothing for either (Michelle will be concerned on where Niko was if he decided to rescue Roman first, and a small bonus mission gets unlocked of picking Roman up from the hospital if Niko's date with Michelle was first). If you choose Michelle, Roman's like status will not benefit, and the same effect will occur if you choose Michelle.
- Spare or kill Ivan Bytchkov.
- Reward: Nothing for kill, appears later as a Random Character if spared. You can later find Ivan on Babbage Drive in Berchem sometime after "Three Leaf Clover".
- Spare or kill Cherise Glover.
- Reward: Nothing for kill, appears later as a random character if spared. If she is killed, Dwayne will sympathize, and if she is spared, Dwayne will say that is relieved; she didn't need to die, she's just an idiot. Cherise will respawn soon at the Cluckin Bell in North Holland as a side mission.
- Spare or kill Clarence Little.
- Reward: Nothing for kill, appears later as a random character if spared. Clarence may later respawn as a Random Character on the north side of the apartment complex where he was nearly killed by Niko in "Holland Nights".
- Kill Playboy X or Dwayne Forge.
- Reward: $25,000 for killing Dwayne, or Playboy X's Penthouse, a new set of clothing and Dwayne as a friend for killing Playboy. Oddly, if Playboy is chosen to live, he will say that Niko is a monster for killing Dwayne, that he was Playboy's master and Playboy has regret.
- Kill or spare one of Isaac Roth's associates.
- Reward: Nothing for spare or kill.
- Kill Francis McReary or Derrick McReary.
- Reward: $10,000/20,000 and the ability to remove a three-star wanted level for killing Derrick; Nothing for killing Francis. Be aware that killing Francis will raise Packie McReary's like status towards Niko, but this is hardly worth it since one simply 5-to-10 minute night on the town with Packie will produce the same effect.
- Spare or kill Darko Brevic.
- Reward: Nothing for spare or kill. Niko will seem to have a little more sanity left in him, however, and seem more content if Darko is spared.
- Choose to strike a deal or exact revenge.
- The final 3 missions of the game are different depending on which ending you took. Both endings will reward you with $250,000, and either Kate McReary or Roman Bellic will be killed, depending on the player's choice. Choosing for Katie to die in the Deal option will prompt Out of Commission, while choosing for Roman to die in the Revenge option will start A Revenger's Tragedy.
