Them Nines are down to a few scabby herds... but they still wanna bring it. They agreed to go toe to toe. A gang of them against two of us, or rather... two of y'all. I'd join you but... I ain't due my parole hearing for another three months now, y'know what I mean? Go and meet my baby brother. He'll show you where they are fighting a'right son.
D-Ice

Rumble is the final mission in Grand Theft Auto III given to protagonist Claude by Red Jacks leader D-Ice from a public phone booth in the Wichita Gardens neighborhood of Shoreside Vale, Liberty City.

The Purple Nines are nearly wiped out. The last members of the gang want a last fight against the Red Jacks. D-Ice instructs Claude to meet up with his brother who shows Claude the location of the fight. The rule is only bats are allowed. Claude, with D-Ice's brother's help, kills all remaining Purple Nines, leaving the Red Jacks the only members of the Southside Hoods.

Mission Objectives[]

In order to complete the mission the player must:

  • Meet up with D-Ice's brother.
  • Go at the battle and kill the remaining Purple Nines with baseball bat only.

Deaths[]

  • Remaining Purple Nines members - Killed on orders from D-Ice to permanently wipe out the gang from the city.
  • D-Ice's brother (optional) - Can be killed during the fight.

D-Ice
(Voice only):
Them Nines are down to a few scabby herds, but they still wanna bring it. They agreed to go toe to toe. A gang of them against two of us, or rather... two of yaw. I'd join you, but...I ain't due my parole hearing for another three months now, y'know what I mean? Go and meet my baby brother. He'll show you where they are fighting, a'right, son.
Claude goes to get D-Ice's brother.
D-Ice's brother: Yo, Ice said you was comin'. There are rules: bats only, no guns, no cars. This is a battle for respect, you cool? Let's go crack some skulls.
Claude and D-Ice's brother head to Staunton View Picnic Area, where the last remaining members of the Purple Nines are located, and kill them off by using a Baseball Bat.

Trivia[]

  • Even killing a gangster with fists or causing him to drown will lead to a mission failure; strictly a baseball bat must be used.
    • Discharging a firearm will, in addition to the failure, cause the gangsters to draw Uzis and fire at the player.
  • D-Ice's brother does not inflict any damage to the enemies.
