Snow is a rarely featured weather pattern in GTA games. Only a few games of the series incorporated it. Snow first appeared in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in the main story mission Saint Mark's Bistro and has made a few other appearances since then.
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in the main story mission Saint Mark's Bistro
- Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories upon reaching level 9 of the Car Salesman side missions
- Grand Theft Auto V during the events of Prologue and Bury the Hatchet, for in both missions, the town of Ludendorff, North Yankton is covered in snow and is also in the miss of a light snowstorm. It was also turned on in the whole of Los Santos and Blaine County on Christmas Day in Grand Theft Auto Online as a 'Holiday Gift' from Rockstar. It was removed a day later, and Rockstar received negative reactions from gamers from the quick removal of snow. In 2014, snow started at midnight, Christmas Eve UTC as part of the Festive Surprise. It ended on December 26 and restarted on December 31 and January 1st.
There have also been numerous modifications to the other games in the series to provide such weather features. Snow is also able to be activated in Grand Theft Auto V using the in-game weather cheat code, although it is not as highly detailed as the snow in GTA Online.
- During snow events like the Festive Surprise Christmas Event, snow will form on anything dropped, including dropped parachutes and car parts. However, it will not form on car roofs.
