+
This car appears to be heavily influenced by the Chevrolet Volt#First generation (2010–2015) hybrid sedan, while the front fascia bears a resemblance to that of the Honda Insight#Second generation (ZE2/ZE3; 2009), more specifically the , as seen in the chrome details, light-up grille, and light LEDs. The C-pillar and side profile are most likely taken from the Ford Focus (second generation, Europe).

Grand Theft Auto V and Online
This car appears to be heavily influenced by the Chevrolet/Holden Volt hybrid sedan. The front end of this car features a dominant chrome-finished central grille formation, which increases in width with height along the front. There is a blue light around both grille formations that is on once the car has been turned on. At the bottom of the formation there is a shallow, central vent which spans half the bumper width. Either side of this vent there are equally shallow vents, whose inner edges are parallel to the outer edge of the central formation. The lower edges of the headlamp units coincide with the lower edge of the main grille. The upper edge of the headlamp units coincides with the top edge of the central formation. The curves that form the edges for the bonnet/ hood elevation run from a top corner of the formation to its corresponding corner of the windscreen. The front fascia bears a slight resemblance to that of the Honda Insight.

  +
The Surge takes on a modern electric hatchback design reminiscent of the Dilettante. Notable details on the car include its large front grille with functional blue light strips, its entirely glass roof, and its numerous chrome and plastic accents throughout.
  +
  +
As noted above, the Surge features three blue light strips integrated into the chrome grille, which illuminate when the car is turned on, and remain illuminated even when the headlights are turned off. Paired with these light strips are LED running lights within the headlight assembly, which illuminate in the same shade of blue and also remain illuminated until the car is turned off.
  +
  +
The interior of the car uses the "Schafter" type, shared with other modern sedans such as the Asea and the Asterope, In the enhanced version, it shares the same dial set from the Tailgater. Due to the shared dial set from a gasoline-powered car, the dial cluster features oil temperature and fuel gauges, features not found on an electric car. The interior of the Surge also features two randomly spawning extras that cannot be added in Los Santos Customs:
  +
*A cupholder mounted above the climate vent controls on the dashboard, with a Bean Machine coffee cup inside. Labeled "<code>extra_ten</code> internally.
  +
*A smartphone mount positioned above the center left climate vent on the dashboard. Labeled "<code>extra_11</code>" internally.
  +
  +
The Surge is only painted with a single primary colour, which also affects the interior stitching. It uses the same rim design as the Bullet.

Grand Theft Auto V and Online
The Surge has a front wheel drive drivetrain to do a burnout. It has a decent top speed, thanks to the powerful electric motor. The motor directly drives the wheels, since it has no transmission.

  +
What looks like a V8 engine cover can be found under the hood, but due to the fact that the vehicle is entire electric and can still explode from bullet fire or sever impact, it is implied this may be a lithium-polymer battery or a fuel cell. Like the Dilettante, the Surge will run quietly until its speed is high.

Trivia
  +
*The name is a reference to its inspiration, the Chevrolet Volt. The words "surge" and "volt" are synonymous with electricity.
*Despite the Volt being a hybrid, the Surge is fully electric.

  +
*Surge means "Arises" in Portuguese and Spanish, derived from the Latin word "surgo" - to get up/stand up.
  +
  +
Bugs/Glitches
  +
*In the enhanced version, the front passenger door appears to have an oversized portion of one of its dials when viewed from a distance, likely an issue with one of the LOD models. This is best seen on NPC-driven Surges at night.
  +
*The rear bumper is visible from the trunk.

Take shit from your gas guzzling buddies, and spend hours at charging stations just to get mistaken for a rideshare driver. The Cheval Surge turns the zero emissions dream into a dull reality.

The Cheval Surge is a four-door electric compact sedan in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online.

Influence

HD Universe

This car appears to be heavily influenced by the first-generation Chevrolet/Holden Volt hybrid sedan, while the front fascia bears a resemblance to that of the second-generation Honda Insight, more specifically the 2008 Honda Insight Concept car, as seen in the chrome details, light-up grille, and light LEDs. The C-pillar and side profile are most likely taken from the second-generation 5-door Ford Focus liftback.

Design

Grand Theft Auto V and Online

The Surge takes on a modern electric hatchback design reminiscent of the Dilettante. Notable details on the car include its large front grille with functional blue light strips, its entirely glass roof, and its numerous chrome and plastic accents throughout.

 • A cupholder mounted above the climate vent controls on the dashboard, with a Bean Machine coffee cup inside. Labeled "extra_ten internally.
 • A smartphone mount positioned above the center left climate vent on the dashboard. Labeled "extra_11" internally.

The Surge is only painted with a single primary colour, which also affects the interior stitching. It uses the same rim design as the Bullet.

Performance

Grand Theft Auto V and Online

What looks like a V8 engine cover can be found under the hood, but due to the fact that the vehicle is entire electric and can still explode from bullet fire or sever impact, it is implied this may be a lithium-polymer battery or a fuel cell. Like the Dilettante, the Surge will run quietly until its speed is high.

Radio Stations

The Surge has the following default radio station/s:

Trivia

 • The name is a reference to its inspiration, the Chevrolet Volt. The words "surge" and "volt" are synonymous with electricity.
 • Surge means "Arises" in Portuguese and Spanish, derived from the Latin word "surgo" - to get up/stand up.

Bugs/Glitches

 • In the enhanced version, the front passenger door appears to have an oversized portion of one of its dials when viewed from a distance, likely an issue with one of the LOD models. This is best seen on NPC-driven Surges at night.
 • The rear bumper is visible from the trunk.
