Carcer City 100%

Rewrites
I did quite a bit of rewriting.
For starters this article needs to take a neutral point of view when it comes to speculations and rumors, avoid what wikipedia calls "peacock terms", and use dry and simple tense.
Speculation can be included if there's a good reason for including it. For example, Rockstar researching in LA is a good reason to include the San Andreas speculation. But counterpoints, if they exist, should also be included. And if they are, the article should not try to take one side or another - it should present both arguments calmly, simply, and rationally.
Wilder speculation should not be included. This is why I removed the "it might be set in Vice City because we haven't had a game there for a while", because that's just too broad a piece of information to be worth basing anything on. Jeff (talk|stalk) 05:57, October 29, 2011 (UTC)

- Rockstar said in their GTA III Q&A that they had had three different types of GTA universes: the 2D, 3D, and high definition universes. They decided to only move unseen characters and other companies but they had characters that were had a role in the games stay in heir own universe. They also mentioned that characters from GTA 3 couldn't be in the GTA IV universe so it's unclear that they will put GTA V in the same era but I would guess that they are.Rok198 14:23, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

- Each game that ends with a number starts a new era. However, Niko Bellic could make a few appearances with his military expaeriences in GTA V and GTA V will be very simular to San Andreas.

- Really, Rockstar named the eras according to what what game started it. i.e. GTA III; GTA IV. The eras, in order, are:
- GTA Era: GTA 1, GTA London 1969, GTA London 1961
- GTA 2 Era: GTA 2
- GTA III Era: GTA III, GTA: Vice City, GTA: San Andreas, GTA Advance, GTA: Liberty City Stories, GTA Vice City Stories
- GTA IV Era: GTA IV, GTA IV: The Lost and Damned; GTA: The Ballad of Gay Tony
- GTA V Era (The new 'era'): GTA V and so on.
- Rockstar did say that each era had enhanced resolution. Like you said, GTA III Era is SD and GTA IV Era is HD. GTA V will still be in HD, but its 'eras' are not divided by resolutions, only by its starting point of a GTA sequel, i.e. GTA III ------ GTA IV. GTA V will be set in a new San Andreas; Los Santos being the city and the protagonist is not confirmed. (Don't take that Albert de Silva B.S. GTAForums made that name up for the "protagonist".) Man! You guys are all wrong! There is no new ERA, meaning no new UNIVERSE, the game has the same universe as in GTA IV, its officialy confirmed by GTA5VIDEOS and GAMEINFORMER, so please change the INFO, I highly dissagree!!! GTA games with numbers can be called, main stories, the ones with no numbers will be just spinoffs. The ERAS are 2D, 3D and HD/3D GTA IV, CTW, TBOGT, TLAD and V. new info needs true citation
The wiki page has tons of assumptions, such as who the protagonist is (a 3 second close-up of a man does not mean he is the protagonist), whether or not thing such as certain aircrafts are confirmed and are drivable, and what platforms the game will be released on and in what regions.
Even the location can't be 100% confirmed, only strongly implied.

- I was also thinking the same thing, at no point have Rockstar said that GTA V will be exclusively Los Santos, they say it heads to the city of Los Santos and it's surroundings, but they don't say that is all we get. It is never said that the rest of the state is not present. I personally struggle to see how they can make it their biggest gaming world yet with but one city, and quite frankly I doubt the gaming community would let them drop two cities which we all know are so very close at hand. - Bullshit. Firstly a guy from Playstation Magazine wouldn't be releasing info about GTA V on a GTA Forum, they'd release it in there magazine or on their website. Secondly we saw who the protagonist is and, unless you can use multiple protagonists though due to the fact that we got to hear the background of just one guy its unlikely, if is a white middle-aged man. Thirdly this just seems like a well thought out GTA wishlist, with a few obvious faults, he also said he got to see 30 minutes of in game footage but all the things he said he saw, including a 15 minute car journey, would take a lot more than 30 minutes. - Rockstar Games said the game might be released by the end of 2012 or in quarter of 2013. Evidently, Rockstar Games said that the gameplay demo will be showed in an eight-minute demo at E3 2012. That's tre of what you said. GTA fans are so hyped up about GTA V coming out, that two, so called, "leaked game" info were made up. the first was made up by a 'sacked Rockstar Games employee' and the second was made up by a 'Brandon Bax' a so called, 'former Rockstar NYC worker who was promoted to assist the producers. - From what i have heard it is based of the number "2405" on a fore sale sign in the trailer, considering R* is originally british, and the british write there dates as MM/DD/YY, or in this case 5/24/[2012]. "V" meant "5" so May is the 5th month!
GTA IV was realesed in April which meant 4 and april is the 4th moon, this GTA wear "IV" so if this GTA wear "V" it can be realese in May 2012. First trailer "Things will be different", was launced one year before of its realese in 2007. This is quite correct. Rockstar's game release dates are mostly on May. However this means we will have to wait up untill May of 2013, not 2012, because on May 2012 Max Payne 3 gets released. Also I noticed Orange stickers on registration plates in trailer. Those will be used on 2013 California plates. YU$UF

I heard that GTA V could be comming for PS4. Normaly, other new games such as GTA 3, VC, SA, 4 can be played on PC so i think that gta v could be played on PC.

- I sincerely don't care if it comes out for PS3, 4, or Xbox. I love my PC. The only reason some peoples have consoles is because they consider it better than upgrading their computers. PC will always have superior graphics.

Fixed-wing aircraft
R* has confirmed it: fixed-wing aircraft are set to return, and they'll be flyable. From the R* website:
"[Liberty City] was simply too small for effective and enjoyable flying. It was the first time we made a high definition open world, and it was a massive amount of work to make something on that scale – we simply could not make an environment big enough for planes to work properly. Fear not, they are returning in what is our biggest open world game to date."

The Protaganist and Name is U-N-K-N-O-W-N!! and Details are Too Reveiled
We don't know who the protaganist is or the name, but people keep on putting on this page that his name is "Albert De Sliva" or "Chico Vialpando". First of all, the name, Albert De Silva was made up on the GTAForums website on the GTA V Wishlist. The alledged "leaked content" from a R* employee fired from general misconduct confirming the protaganist's name must have checked GTAForums then decided to "write the the facts". This was all taken from GTA San Andreas with same GTA San Andreas characters and a GTA LCS character. If GTA V had Chico with the money, the cars, and the fame, would you start out the game with $99,999,999,999 dollars and have a Pegassi Infernus parked right in front of your house after you walk out of your house to start the first mission? Plus, this would be the next chapter of GTA: San Andreas and this game WILL NOT be "2012's Biggest Release" and WILL SUCK if you had to play GTA V with the same similarities as San Andreas.

Hi people, why in GTA wikia here I see that GTA V is in a new era? I dont think so, it's in the same era as GTA IV because of the cars, and environment. Sure, there are 5 years of diference from 2008 and 2013, but its not in a new era. I mean, GTA I and GTA 2 are in the same era as in the 2D era games. And, what if in GTA V there are references about liberty city, exact city, and references to Niko Bellic in the game? GTA IV and GTA V can be in the same era.Can someone explain why people say its a new era? I totally disagree !! I want it changed...

There is a reason why GTA IV and V are not in the same era and have distinct eras. Here are the points:
- For GTA 1 and 2: The eras do not represent graphics; 2D and 3D. They are storyline/continutity eras. Even Rockstar Games said they use the era term for their GTA franchise.
- GTA 1 had expansions GTA: London 1969 and 1961. That's the GTA 1 Era
- GTA 2; it is a single era.
- The GTA III Era had GTA III, VC, SA, Advance, LCS, and VCS. Each game had references to these games in this era and characters; thier lives before and after (i.e. Kent Paul; Lance Vance; Toni Cipriani)
- The GTA III Era never had numbers in their title. If it did, it would be was GTA III: Vice City, GTA III San Andreas, GTA III: Advance, GTA III: LCS, and GTA III: VCS, then it would indicate that they are in the same era. It was never GTA IV: Vice City, GTA V: SA, GTA VI: Advance, GTA VII: LCS and GTA VIII: VCS
- The GTA IV era had HD game engine and that was new to the franchise. The GTA IV Era was GTA IV: The Lost and Damned and GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony (GTA: TBoGT; The IV was its beta name), and Chinatown Wars. Each game was a crossover(excluding CW, which took a year after IV); taking place at the same time, same city. Niko and Johnny and Luis crossed paths in missions. This era used the same city unlike the GTA III Era in which they used different cities. Chinatown Wars took place in Liberty City, but had totally new characters. Due to this, it wasn't GTA V: Chinatown Wars because the setting was in LC.
- Now the GTA V Era, you got that one confused. If V was in the same era as IV, why hasn't Rockstar annouced it would be part in GTA IV's Episodes From Liberty City, even though it will be in Los Santos? Why did it take FIVE YEARS to make this "GTA IV Expansion"? Would the title be called, "Grand Theft Auto IV: V or GTA IV: Los Santos? No, it wouldn't because Rockstar would tell us that it was a GTA IV expansion. It would be in a DLC, just like EFLC and we would've got word about Niko, Johnny, and Luis returning.
GTA V will take place in a new era, with a different city, new characters and new missions. The GTA IV Characters be will be mentioned as an easter egg probably, but will never return in the game.

Police agencies
It seems that they are different police agencies in the game because of what I saw in screenshots. Some cars have red and blue lights. While others have all red lights and also some have completely blue lights. Also the ones with blue lights have different livery of course this could be just an FIB cars because it is very similar to real life FBI agent cars. What are your thoughts.
True, the LSPD and the FIB, is sure to be in the game, but new agencies like the IAA and one in this picture, with a new patrol vehicle seems to be new. Massionet51 (talk) 13:02, November 18, 2012 (UTC)
