+ | The Tornado is a vintage two-door coupe/hardtop convertible featured in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online. It is manufactured by Declasse in the HD Universe. |
+ | ==Influence== |
− | The Tornado is a two-door lowrider featured in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto V. |
+ | ===Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas=== |
+ | In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the Tornado assumes the design of a Chevrolet Bel Air#Third generation (1958), with the front fascia and other elements taken from the Chevrolet Bel Air#Second generation (1955–1957). |
+ | ===Grand Theft Auto V and Online=== |
+ | In Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, the Tornado flips the design seen in San Andreas, with the car being predominantly based on the Chevrolet Bel Air#Second generation (1955–1957), with the front fascia resembling that of the Chevrolet Bel Air#Third generation (1958). The front bumper is directly borrowed from the Cadillac Series 62#Fifth generation (1957–1958), while the tail light design, similar to the Peyote, takes cues from the File:1960 Cadillac Series 62 (19575971183).jpg. The headlights are shaped similarly to the ones found on the Chrysler Saratoga#1957–1960, but with additional support mounts derived from either the 1957 Bel Air or the Edsel Pacer. The side trim appears to be a combination of the 1957 Bel Air, Chrysler New Yorker#1957–1959, and Chrysler Windsor#1957–1958. It is possible that the trim also draws inspiration from the Pontiac Bonneville#First generation (1958) and the Mercury Monterey#1959–1960. |
+ | ==Design== |
+ | ===Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas=== |
+ | The car has its distinctive front end, chromed lines on the sides and a large trunk on the rear, along with grille details, circular mirrors and circular lights. The Tornado may spawn in a variety of primary body colors, with a secondary color applied on the interior (usually set to shades of white/grey). It uses small-size wheels with centercaps. |
+ | ===Grand Theft Auto V and Online=== |
− | == Description == |
+ | The car remains similar in design and features to its previous iteration, but makes use of a trapezium-shaped mesh grille/intake, turn signals on the bumper edges and black details on the middle. Two chrome strips are seen on the front quarters, above the bumper, while dual circular headlights are seen on the upper edges. The front of the hood bears a chrome detail and lettering displaying the manufacturer name. |
− | === Design === |
− | The Tornado assumes the design of a late-1950s coupe, most likely a 1958 Chevy Impala, with signature sweeping curves and tailfins. The front half of the car (and most of the front bumper and grille) and rear window resemble those of a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air, while the windscreen, sides, back side and bottom half of the front bumper resemble a 1958 Chevrolet Bel Air. |
− | The car serves as one of several gang cars for the Los Santos Vagos. |
+ | The sides of the car remain identical in shape and features from its previous iteration, but makes use of an additional chrome trim at the bottom, and what appears to be additional trimming on the rear fenders, surrounding a set of black strips with the car's name displayed in gold. The cabin area retains the same window layout, but the A-pillars are more vertical and the rear-quarter windows are more rounded on the rear side. |
− | |
+ | The rear of the car assumes an even larger trunk between the outer rear wings, again featuring the same details as on the hood. The back of the wings and the rear bumper are finished in chrome, with the outer edges holding circular tail lights in a vertical positioning. |
− | |
+ | The car uses the same wheel design as the Manana, being the "Flare" lowrider rims also available at Los Santos Customs. |
− | === Performance === |
− | Having only two doors, the Tornado is only designed to carry two occupants, and as a result, is not a good choice for drive-bys because it lacks the four-seats that many other gang cars have. The car does make up for this deficiency with its above average top speed and acceleration (faster than most four-door lowriders), as well as its generally stable cornering even with its long wheelbase that is supposed to hamper the car's maneuverability. Its low ground clearance, however, clearly makes the car unsuitable for rugged off-roading. |
+ | ===Current Design Gallery=== |
− | The Tornado is also durable and can take a good bit of gunfire before exploding. Although it doesn't appear to have a visible fuel cap, it will explode if the back license plate is shot. |

The car does make up for this with its above average top speed and acceleration, as well as its generally stable cornering (even with its long wheelbase that is supposed to hamper the car's maneuverability). Braking, however, is not so great. The Tornado is also quite durable and can take a good bit of road damage/gunfire before exploding. ||
+ | The Tornado is again quite durable and handles relatively similar to its SA counterpart. One disadvantage of this car is that it performs horrible while driving up hills. It again does not have a visible fuel cap, but it will explode if the front engine is shot enough or if its hit from a high enough impact (rolling down a steep hill and directly hitting the ground with sensitive spots may result in an instant explosion). |
+ | |||
+ | The engine is modeled after a V8 with single-overhead camshafts and a large cylindrical air filter. It is coupled to a 4-speed gearbox in a front engine, rear wheel drive layout. The engine sound is relatively low-revving and rather noisy. |

+ | ==Locations== |
+ | ===Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas=== |
+ | *It spawns more often when the beater/junk car traffic cheat is activated. |
+ | *It mostly spawns around Los Santos Vagos turfs in Las Colinas, Los Flores, East Los Santos and East Beach. After having acquired all their turfs, the car cannot be obtained without cheating any more. |
+ | |||
+ | ===Grand Theft Auto V=== |
+ | *It can sometimes be found driven around Rockford Hills near Michael's House. |
+ | *It can be found at the Domestic Japanese European Garage, south from nearby Vinewood Police Station, central Vinewood on Elgin Avenue in Hawick. |
+ | *Modified yellow variants are driven by the Vagos in Rancho, and can be found parked in the parking lot at Rancho Projects. |
+ | *Modified purple variants can sometimes be seen driven on the Grove Street cul-de-sac by a Ballas gang member. |
+ | **They can also sometimes be parked in the same area. |
+ | *Modified green variants can be found on Forum Drive, parked, or being driven. Franklin can steal them and not get shot at as opposed to if the player tried to take a Ballas or Vagos variant. This is an easy way to get the Tornado for Delivering the Truth. |
+ | *It sometimes can be found parked at Rogers Salvage and Scrap in La Puerta. |
+ | |||
+ | ===Grand Theft Auto Online=== |
+ | *It can be purchased from Benny's Original Motor Works for $30,000 (enhanced version only). |
+ | *It has a fixed spawn point located directly outside of The Freakshop. Both the hardtop and convertible may spawn there. |

+ | ==Rewards== |
+ | ===Grand Theft Auto Online=== |
+ | *In GTA Online (on the original PS3 and XB360 versions) the convertible gang variants of the Tornado are the second most valuable vehicles that can be stolen and sold to Los Santos Customs, netting the player $12,575 in mint condition. In the Enhanced Version, they only rank 10th most valuable. The hardtop variants only pay out $8,050. |
+ | **After the Heists update, the convertible gang Tornado sold for $43,305 in mint condition; however, this was later patched after the 1.22 update. |

==Trivia== |
+ | ===General=== |
− | *The Tornado is the lowest vehicle in the game and only lowrider and/or car capable of dragging. Dropping its rear end on the ground produces a continuous stream of sparks like a minitruck. This trick can be executed through the aid of hydraulics by nose up with right analog stick (PS2). The scraping can be done by pressing the Num 8 button or by pressing H, then the Num 2 button (PC). |

The Tornado is a vintage two-door coupe/hardtop convertible featured in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online. It is manufactured by Declasse in the HD Universe.
Influence
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the Tornado assumes the design of a 1958 Chevrolet Bel Air, with the front fascia and other elements taken from the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air.
Grand Theft Auto V and Online
In Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, the Tornado flips the design seen in San Andreas, with the car being predominantly based on the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air, with the front fascia resembling that of the 1958 Chevrolet Bel Air. The front bumper is directly borrowed from the 1957 Cadillac models, while the tail light design, similar to the Peyote, takes cues from the 1960 Cadillac models. The headlights are shaped similarly to the ones found on the 1957–1958 Chrysler models, but with additional support mounts derived from either the 1957 Bel Air or the Edsel Pacer. The side trim appears to be a combination of the 1957 Bel Air, 1958 Chrysler New Yorker, and 1958 Chrysler Windsor. It is possible that the trim also draws inspiration from the 1958 Pontiac models and the 1959 Mercury models.
Design
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
The car has its distinctive front end, chromed lines on the sides and a large trunk on the rear, along with grille details, circular mirrors and circular lights. The Tornado may spawn in a variety of primary body colors, with a secondary color applied on the interior (usually set to shades of white/grey). It uses small-size wheels with centercaps.
Grand Theft Auto V and Online
The car remains similar in design and features to its previous iteration, but makes use of a trapezium-shaped mesh grille/intake, turn signals on the bumper edges and black details on the middle. Two chrome strips are seen on the front quarters, above the bumper, while dual circular headlights are seen on the upper edges. The front of the hood bears a chrome detail and lettering displaying the manufacturer name.
The sides of the car remain identical in shape and features from its previous iteration, but makes use of an additional chrome trim at the bottom, and what appears to be additional trimming on the rear fenders, surrounding a set of black strips with the car's name displayed in gold. The cabin area retains the same window layout, but the A-pillars are more vertical and the rear-quarter windows are more rounded on the rear side.
The rear of the car assumes an even larger trunk between the outer rear wings, again featuring the same details as on the hood. The back of the wings and the rear bumper are finished in chrome, with the outer edges holding circular tail lights in a vertical positioning.
The car uses the same wheel design as the Manana, being the "Flare" lowrider rims also available at Los Santos Customs.

Performance
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Having only two doors, the Tornado is only designed to carry two occupants. Although it does not appear to have a visible fuel cap, it will explode when the license plate is shot.
GTA San Andreas Overview

N/A | 99 / 160 | 4 | Petrol | RWD | 1700 / 3748 |
N/A | N/A | 4 | N/A | RWD | Cannot be observed |
Grand Theft Auto V and Online
The Tornado is again quite durable and handles relatively similar to its SA counterpart.
The engine is modeled after a V8 with single-overhead camshafts and a large cylindrical air filter. It is coupled to a 4-speed gearbox in a front engine, rear wheel drive layout. The engine sound is relatively low-revving and rather noisy.

Prominent Appearances in Missions
Grand Theft Auto V
- Appears in The Third Way, where Trevor Philips kidnaps Devin Weston using Weston's own Tornado and transports him to the countryside, where it is pushed off a cliff and destroyed.
Grand Theft Auto Online
- Can appear in the "Undisclosed Cargo" Casino Work as the vehicle that needs to be disposed of.[vague]
- Tow Truck Service - This vehicle may be randomly selected to be stolen and delivered to the player's Salvage Yard to be disassembled for parts.[vague]
Locations
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
- It spawns more often when the beater/junk car traffic cheat is activated.
- It mostly spawns around Los Santos Vagos turfs in Las Colinas, Los Flores, East Los Santos and East Beach. After having acquired all their turfs, the car cannot be obtained without cheating any more.
Grand Theft Auto V
- It can sometimes be found driven around Rockford Hills near Michael's House.
- It can be found at the Domestic Japanese European Garage, south from nearby Vinewood Police Station, central Vinewood on Elgin Avenue in Hawick.
- Modified yellow variants are driven by the Vagos in Rancho, and can be found parked in the parking lot at Rancho Projects.
- Modified purple variants can sometimes be seen driven on the Grove Street cul-de-sac by a Ballas gang member.
- They can also sometimes be parked in the same area.
- Modified green variants can be found on Forum Drive, parked, or being driven. Franklin can steal them and not get shot at as opposed to if the player tried to take a Ballas or Vagos variant. This is an easy way to get the Tornado for Delivering the Truth.
- It sometimes can be found parked at Rogers Salvage and Scrap in La Puerta.
Grand Theft Auto Online
- It can be purchased from Benny's Original Motor Works for $30,000 (enhanced version only).
- It has a fixed spawn point located directly outside of The Freakshop. Both the hardtop and convertible may spawn there.
Rewards
Grand Theft Auto Online
- In GTA Online (on the original PS3 and XB360 versions) the convertible gang variants of the Tornado are the second most valuable vehicles that can be stolen and sold to Los Santos Customs, netting the player $12,575 in mint condition. In the Enhanced Version, they only rank 10th most valuable. The hardtop variants only pay out $8,050.
- After the Heists update, the convertible gang Tornado sold for $43,305 in mint condition; however, this was later patched after the 1.22 update.
Radio Stations
- In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the Tornado plays Radio Los Santos.
- In Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, the default radio stations are grouped by genre. The Tornado uses the "Jazz" group which plays WorldWide FM.
