Opinions/Ratings of The GTA Games
  +
* GTA 3 - 9.0 = 100% Completed on PC and iPad. It marked the beginning of Rockstar's brilliant series, and is a gem in the world of gaming. Certainly one of the most inspiring games of all time... Loved the Scarface music.
  +
* GTA Vice City - 9.5 = 100% Completed on PC and iPad. My second favourite GTA game, I loved the story from beginning to end. It created an awesome atmosphere of the mid 1980's and showed the rise from the very bottom to the top (what I think a GTA game is all about). The music in the game was brilliant and the voice acting was excellent.
  +
* GTA San Andreas - 8.5 = 100% Completed on PC and IPad. Definitely an amazing game on accounts of the map size. Rockstar Games had put a lot of work into this game, and in terms of the gameplay - it payed off. However, I didn't really think the voice acting was very good, I thought that Young Maylay's voice acting was quite poor... and annoying. There was noticeably many awkward pauses in between lines during cutscene's and some of the mission cutscene's were a bit strange eg: When CJ walks into the donut shop to find the Crash members and when he see's them he trys to run away? Wasn't he there to see them? However, I thought the voice acting of Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Penn was brilliant, and they played two very brilliant antagonist's. Overall, a good game but was let down by Carl's character and various other voice actor's in my opinion.
  +
* GTA Vice City Stories - 9.0 = 100% Completed on PSP. A brilliant return to Vice City with some great voice acting. Missions were 'realistic' and Jerry Martinez played a terrific antagonist. Empire building was a very fun side job and the return of Lance Vance was gold. By far one of the best games on PSP I've ever played.
  +
* GTA IV - 9.8 = 100% Completed on PC and PS3. This will probably be the game of my life. It was my first GTA game that I ever played and to this day it is still my favourite. Amazing voice acting and gameplay, with one of the best stories ever. I often remember back when I first played this game for the first time - I think if given a wish I would go back to that moment again (sad I know xD). I remember watching my dad play it through first and telling him to take the 'Revenge' option, when I was about 9 or 10. After that I suppose he let me play it and from then on I just kept playing and playing. I can remember discovering that there was also 'Stevie's Car Thefts' and then realizing how awesome the game was. Only thing that bugs me is that once you've finished the game there's nothing else to do.
  +
* GTA The Lost and Damned and GTA The Ballad of Gay Tony - 9.7 = 100% Completed on PC and PS3. Two more brilliant games that tie into GTA IV beautifully. Amazing gameplay and voice acting, with even more stuff to do in Liberty City. It only adds to how awesome I think the GTA IV universe is . These two games should be concidered the best 'DLC' ever.
  +
* GTA Chinatown Wars - 9.1 = Completed on Nintendo DS and iPad. One of the best games on both platforms undoubtedly. The story was entertaining and the gameplay was great. Drug dealing is very satisfying. Characters in this game could be considered more interesting than all the characters in GTA V - and they don't even have voice actors.
  +
* GTA V - 8.7 = 100% Completed on PS3, PS4 and PC. Disappointing. It's strange to my why so many people absolutely love this game. True, it has a huge map and brilliant changes to the driving and has amazingly detailed graphics. But surely that was to be expected? Grand Theft Auto has ALWAYS been great in that way. The thing that disappoint's me is the complete lack of an interesting story and good characters. Firstly, there's Michael, who probably has the best story of all three protagonist's but nevertheless has terrible supporting characters (his family) and doesn't really relate to the audience at all, sometimes being a real pushover for no reason (probably to make way for Trevor). Franklin does appear to have been largely pulled from CJ's character and although we're meant to see him as possibly the main character working his way from the bottom to the top, he is ruined by the ending of the game. Finally, Trevor, who I have personally hated straight away for killing Johnny, is in some way's a 'clever' character but overall I think he too widely resembles the sudden popularity of crazy video game characters such as Vaas from Far Cry 3. I can see why some people adore him, but he seems to be highly unrelatable and bizarre. Or is that the point? Were they going for the Joker concept? Hope not. Anyway, the main reason why I dislike GTA 5 is because of the ridiculous ending and the antagonists. You are given the choice as Franklin to kill Michael or Trevor, or to choose a random "Deathwish" option. At first I expected that choosing to kill Michael or Trevor would result in a switch where they would actually kill Franklin. However, when I later realized that you could actually completely kill one of your characters (I chose deathwish) then I couldn't help but feel sorry for all the people who chose to kill Trevor or Michael and would now MISS OUT ON A THIRD OF THEIR GAME! Also, for everyone who killed Michael, you have my respect for wanting to kill someone the game so poorly tries to make look like a worse person than Trevor. I really don't see why any player would want to kill Michael. He seems to be a classic criminal who got out of the game like so many before him, and yet you get the sense that you should be punishing him for not being more like Trevor... I find the fact that you make the end decision as Franklin kind of annoying because he offered no real character development himself and suddenly the game gave him the end choice of who should live or die. Even despite him getting on well with both characters previously and having little opinion on their argument anyway. It seemed that they hurried the end of the game and quickly through in a random choice with one clear ending that they knew all players would want to take. Even the happy ending where everyone lives isn't satisfying because it seems so blatantly laid out and isn't as dramatic as they could've made it. I wanted an ending which made players think and even if they had played the game a 100 times, they would still have to think about which ending to choose. The ending of GTA V is complete bullshit and made the rest of the game's story seem like a build up to absolutely nothing.
  +
* The Music got repetitive very fast and the fact that they didn't include a 'end of mission' theme song just pisses me off - the soundtrack wasn't very impressive either and was only played once at the beginning of the game! The police are next to impossible to escape and when you do, you could be standing right behind them anyway. Stupidly easy to lose health (you have barely any) and climbing mountains is next to impossible in some places and easy when climbing others just as steep. It seems to me that they cut many parts of the previous Grand Theft Auto options which seems pointless for them not to have included. Police missions, fire fighting missions, Burger Shot's and Cluckin' Bell's don't exist. The entire map is pretty much useless as their is barely any buildings that you can go inside. The whole map is completely empty and again there isn't anything more to do at the end of completion.
  +
* If you love the GTA series like I do then you should be able to see that Rockstar were holding back on this game, and although they have undoubtedly made an amazing game - even I have to admit that it is quite definitely the best game ever made - not the greatest - but the best. There is a difference :) In terms of achievement it deserves every award it has got, but when comparing the atmosphere and tone that was so prominent in GTA 4, and how astounding the story was, it is my opinion that Rockstar didn't go all the way on this game because they are saving that for GTA 6 or whatever the next instalment will be called. I hope for the next game they listen to the criticism that I've and most likely a few others have brought up and that they focus on story and map attention to detail again. When considering how many people are going to buy the next GTA when it is released - its audience has obviously grown massively since when GTA 5 was released. I really hope Rockstar create a really great story that will blow away all the players of the game - especially me - and give everyone something to think about. Come on writers.
