Notice - File naming and/or licensing

Site-logo
Please ensure to properly name and/or license images that you upload to the GTA Wiki

Image licensing and naming is part of our official Media Policy, and as such, it is asked of all users to respect the policy and add a proper name and license when uploading as described here.

Licenses
Whenever you upload an image to the wiki, towards the bottom of the page there is an option to add a license.

  • For images that are game screenshots, use the appropriate Screenshots & in-game logos.
  • For images extracted directly from game files or from Rockstar Games websites, use This file is copyright to Rockstar Games. ({{Rockstar}})
  • For non-game screenshots (pictures taken from the web etc.), select This image is used under Fair Use.
  • For images that are not licensed, e.g. images you have created from scratch yourself, select This is in the Public Domain.

File names
As a general rule of thumb, image names should follow the following pattern:

PageSubjectName-GTAgame-OptionalDescription.png

The name can be modified in the bar right above the "add license" option when you are uploading it, and must match with the Media Policy (a table of correct names can be seen here).

What you should do now
Because your recent upload was non-compliant, you are now expected to take steps to fix the issues with your file(s). There is a detailed tutorial on how to do this here.

If you have any questions about the policy, please use the dedicated section, or if you need assistance fixing your files, please contact me on my talk page or that of any other staff member.

This message is informational, and is not to be considered an official warning, however, ignoring this message can lead to the file(s) you uploaded being deleted and possibly to an official warning or a block if you continue to ignore the policy on subsequent uploads. For more information on licensing and copyright, see here.
Thank you!
See File:LSDS-Bins.png - no Licence, No game name in the title.

Re-upload, then I might help you add to the LSDS page. Smurfy: illuminate - communicate - spectate 03:15, July 28, 2015 (UTC)

Somehow forgot about that one. SierraX (talk) 04:07, July 28, 2015 (UTC)

Image rights[]

You can't rename or delete, you have a couple of options:

  1. Add a {{delete}} template to your existing image and upload a completely new version with the right name and remember to add the licence.
  2. Add the {{gtav screenshot}} licence template to the file and add a {{Move|new filename}} template to it.

Either way, an Admin needs to clean it up for you.

p.s. Please remember to sign (~~~~) your talk page messages. Thanks. Smurfy: illuminate - communicate - spectate 03:49, July 28, 2015 (UTC)

Yup, saw the warning a nanosecond after I clicked "Publish" SierraX (talk) 04:07, July 28, 2015 (UTC)

If you are going to continue uploading images, you need to get this right, but there will be times you forget or mis-click or whatever. In those times, you need to be aware of how to fix your mistakes without running foul of the rules.  I just did option 2 for you. See here to see how I did it. So just add the templates. Got it. SierraX (talk) 14:48, July 28, 2015 (UTC)

Your image still needed a license (a {{Gtav screenshot}} in this case). No warning necessary, as you have named it correcty. Make sure to add a proper license in your next uploads. Thank you. Thegtaseeker96 (talk) 10:13, December 19, 2015 (UTC)
