Starting a new wiki

Nobody deleted images. I can check if images have been deleted and none have. It's a common bug for Wiki's with as many images as we have, most images seem to be back now - for me at least. Tom ^Talk 19:27, January 5, 2014 (UTC)

Oh lol, I know how to undo and I use the magnifying glass to make sure other user's edits are useful. Undoing is the one I can do, but when a user makes multiple edits and the edits can't be undone, how do you revert the person's edits? Most Wanted Criminals

Hey The Tom! Smashbro8 here! Can you explain to me why the Most Wanted criminals in GTA IV are considered deceased? Their status is determinant since the player has the option of whether to kill them or let them live. It is not required for them to be killed unless one is pursuing 100% Completion. I'm sorry but I don't understand this. Even some of the criminals' pages on the wiki say the status is determinant. Hello Tom,

Me and fellow editor TheAdamBomb2  have been discussing about a note on the "Locations" section.

As it appears; Adam wrote a note about he "found a random" Z-type at the Vanilla Ice's parking lots, is this just me, or does this sound like complete nonsense to me? Everybody knows that the Z-type is only available via the internet, or by failing Eye In The Sky. Honestly, I think he's trying to create some confusion here.

I apoligize but I can't provide evidence as I can't record because I don't have a capture card or whatever it is people use to record. And if I did I wouldn't know how to send you the recording. You're going to need to either belive me or not belive me. Either way is fine. But I know it spawned for me and I don't know how to hack so I didn't hack and if I did I wouldn't hack anything unless I joined the military(hacking skills would probably be more useful in the CIA)because it's wrong to hack peoples' social networking accounts and games because I know how to or really it's wrong to do it in general.

It appears that Cloudkit01 has edited a page I created called Air Theatre, a building in GTA V, redirecting removing all text and adding a redirection to a different Air Theatre page. When I clicked "Redirect to Air Theatre", it brought me to the "you"re creating a new article screen". Hello Tom! It appears like my computer uploaded this image as I was renaming it to "Dominator-GTAV-Rear" before I uploaded it. However it did not appear while I was doing so, I just recently found it but there's no need for it as I have uploaded the one with the right name while this somehow got uploaded too. The point is there's no need for dupes so could you please delete it?

I have a question too, as it seems like most of the images has been deleted would it be alright if I would add images from all of the vehicles (preferably from SA, IV, EFLC and V maybe even from III and VC) but use the ones on the Social Club for thumbnail of the vehicles in V? Unneeded Category?

I created it around 6 months ago, I started to find it a little bit useless now but I'm not completely sure if we should delete it, but if Tom agrees, I agree with deleting. Anyways, I was thinking about the category Places and its subdivsions : Places in San Fierro, L.C, V.C etc... and I think this category disturbs the organization from locations around the GTA series, plus, it's all mixed with cities from different universes ( Places in L.C in GTA III with places in GTA IV). New wiki

INVITE

Today, a new subsidiary Wiki of the GTA Wiki has been created. The new, hereafter extravagant GTA Songs Wiki.

The Wiki is about all the songs around the radio stations in the GTA series, it's hard to me to build this Wiki alone, so I'm inviting you to help a little bit, step by step, brick by brick.

I'm trying to create a Wiki, bringing articles to an identical look-a-like method. They are actually very short. The songs infoboxes should contain the name, image (offcial album cover), size, artist, radio stations, game, year and genre. The header section should look like this: Example is a song performed by Artist Example featured in the radio station [[Example]] in GameExample. The sections are the following :

• Lyrics - you can pick one from the internet, include the <center> at the top and bottom from the section and don't forget the colons (:). Remember to keep 20 free lines between the header section and the lyrics section.

• Trivia (optional) - If the song can be listen during a cutscene (example : Arab Money).

• Video - The best video you can find about it on Youtube.

This is an optional invite, I hope the Wiki will turn up extremely amazing in few months, just like the GTA Myths Wiki did.

Anyways, I'll ask the bureaucrats if the Wiki can become an affiliate when stronger.

Hey, The Tom. Let's just say that I'm really picky about which weapon I use in Grand Theft Auto 4. And what really bothering me is how on Three Leaf Clover the set me up the the M4A1. I want to use the AK-47 on that mission and it keeps setting me with the M4 so I have to use the "Poor" gun cheat after the cutscene. I know I should be alright after I enter the cheat but I really do not want anything to do with the M4A1 in that mission. I would be fine if it showed Niko with the M4A1 in the cutscene and after it I would have the AK-47. I want no cheats involved if you have a resoloution.

It exists in the game's files as proptrailer. If you spawn it with a save editor or get one of your buddies to do it for you, you will see(Note: iirc, set bodystyle to 198 or the vehicle will be missing some walls). Re: Ortega's trailer

Ok, now I see where you are coming from(plus I am on my meds so I am calmer). But it is not a modded vehicle per se. The vehicle exists in the stock game files, it is just never seen outside of the mission where it replaces the static object(the game deletes the static obj and transplants the vehicle in it's place). Think of it like the RC Cam from GTA:SA. It was a vehicle to be used for a single mission(that got cut, but that is beside the point)like the trailer, but nobody even knew it existed until they went through the gamefiles. Anyways, I don't really care anymore. I thought it would be an interesting subject for an article being that it was a vehicle that nobody knew about. I still believe it should have a mention somewhere, but I don't care if it doesn't get it's own article.

In addition, the proptrailer apparently does have an "engine" because when you get in it exhaust smoke effects start coming out of vents in the top of the trailer. That makes me think that it was actually "driving" backwards when you use Trevor's truck to push it, because as you probably have seen, it is really hard to push any stationary vehicle and get it to move in GTA V.

New Los Santos montage

Hi, I think the HD Los Santos main page needs a new montage picture, since the older one has disappeared, along with many others in the wiki. City articles are one of the most important and most visited and this one looks bad without a main image. I'm asking you because I've done some montages and I'd like to have your permission before altering the page. These are 3 montages I've done:

Header image is messy

Hello,

The header image should be reverted to the version without the gray area present, dated 19:37, 6 May 2013, as it does not cover the buttons correctly on any other resolution other than the one Dodo8 relied on, this image is displayed on my screen with a full HD resolution (1920x1080). I recommend reverting to a clean background version of the image and adding the following CSS line to MediaWiki:Common.css (affects all layouts) or MediaWiki:Wikia.css (only affects current layout):

Fact. But I realized that businesses that can be bought by the player in previous games are referred as assets, like: Assets in GTA Vice City, Assets in GTA San Andreas, Assets in GTA Liberty City Stories etc.. but in GTA V, these assets are now known as properties. So I'm not sure if the category Properties should be a big glossary to all the properties in the series with its subcategories or we could rename all the assets pages with properties (Assets in GTA Vice City = Properties in GTA Vice City) + the categories aswell. About Terry and Clay death

Look, i undestand and agree that Trevor would have killed Terry and Clay in that mission, i left this very clear in the first trivia that i put in that page. But, the game still gives the player an opportunity to let them both live, and i don't think this should just be ignored. I'm not saying this because i'm a desperate The Lost fan that want to believe that they are alive, no, i'm totally indifferent about it.

What i'm saying is that, if we are going to edit this page according to what we think its cannon or not, than we should by logic apply the same rule to the other pages. Michael and Trevor status should be alive, because its completely out of character for Franklin to kill either of them. Why theres one rule to Terry and Clay but another rule to the rest of the wiki?

IN MY OPINION, i think we should keep the status of both of them determinant, and let that piece of trivia there to explain why. I know the change of they live its very small and require a lot of work, but it does not matter, the change its still there! And change the status to deceased and delete the trivia its just ignore the problem, not solve it.

Altruist Cult as a gang

Why aren't the Altruists a gang? Seeing as Merryweather and the Killer Hipsters has been added, why not the Altruists? They fit the definition; they are a group of people that get together to engage in illegal activity, in their case ritualistic murder, rape, and cannibalism. It's okay to follow the style as before, and it's okay to leave the order as before at this moment. Actually what I still thinking about how to do is found out the way to make it as the "Missions Unlocks & Unlocked By" graph pic I post above, but the mission names are able to click for link. Personally that pic is very useful for me to read the actual structure of which mission unlocks the others, but it still need more explanation to fit the standard for show to public.

Gibea has just introduced the flowchart he was talking about, I think it is messy and the use of a flowchart is not appropriate since it imply that by following the arrows you can skip missions. A correct form of flowchart need to go through ALL the missions that are required to complete the storyline (that will be really messy). This is an unnecessary change to the page Missions in GTA IV and I prefer that it should be removed. Furthermore I have noticed that Gibea is not proficient in English, which makes it hard to discuss the changes with him. Mob and Crime Family

Please, Tom, don't make any rush decisions. We already have articles about Korean Mob and Albanian Mob, so the word itself is correct enough.

The problem is, we don't know if Bonelli's mob can be called the entire mafia family. It's suppose it being big enough and has a strong hierarchy. As far as we know, it's just bunch of goons, so please, rename it back to mob, until we know more. "Crime Family" is something like Ancelottis or Messinas.

Also, I don't even know what kind of term this is, "Crime Family". LCPD Database uses term "Crime Syndicate" and people use term "Family".

Yeah, it sounds correct, if it is not for one "but".

The same group of people appears on construction site during gang wars in multiplayer. I guess it makes them gang.

But since we don't know if he is part of some family or if he is family himself, I guess the term "Mob" will be the closest to the true. It's just group of armed people in illegal activity. It can't be called "bodyguards", neither "crime family".

Okay, if you say so, let's keep it that way. But I'm a little bit disappointed how you put your personal opinion above rare facts and information, which could be useful or just interesting. There are a lot of Trivia in this Wikia, which can be removed because "nobody cares". There is a very blurred line between "somebody cares" and "nobody cares" and I'm not sure if this is right thing to do: draw it based on your personall opinions. I think the whole Trivia section is made for arguable and off-topic information. Information about name of the character and developers' oversight is definitely should be there. But if you don't think so, I'm nobody to judge.

Kkangpae

Actually, I think, this is something people should get used to. If Rockstar already got used to it after GTA IV and CW (where they were called Midtown Gangsters) — we should too. There were times, when people considered words like Mafia, Tongs and Yakuza not English enough, but these times are gone. If Rockstar took the risk of calling them Kkangpaes, we obviously should too.

But to make searching easier for other people, we can always put text "May be you're looking for Kkangpaes..." on the top of Korean Mob page. There are a lot of complications like this in this Wikia.

As I said, it is not necessary to make user's life harder, because they still could find the page by typing Korean Mob. It's just wrong for Wikia to use made-up name instead of original ones. For example, real Wikipedia has an article with the name Kkangpae so I can't see why are we worse than them.

More than that, Rockstar used the name Kkangpae, so once again, I don't frankly think this it is our call to make, how to name this article. If Rockstar and Wikipedia say "Kkangpae", how can we argue with that? This is not our decision.

"Mafia" will never be the common word if at one point of history people won't decide to use it in common life and articles. Rockstar and Wikipedia say, that this point for Korean criminals has come. Are you sure that your opinion on what's common and what's not can be more appropriate, than their?

Once again. Rockstar says "Kkangpae". Wikipedia says "Kkangpae". GTA Wikia obviously should say "Kkanhgpae" too.

And for any future complications we can always put the link on Korean Mob article.

Oh, thanks a lot Tom. I know how difficult it is to prevent argument of becoming personal, especially when you have strong opinion in it. You're natural-born moderator, administrator or bureaucrat, I respect you for that very much.

The only time when the name is used is during the gang attack on property (The Hen House). Then text about attack of Kkangpae appears. I was surprised, because first time I discovered this word was during researches on Korean Mob in GTA IV.

What about Trivias and Zverovnas, I actually learned a lot of useful and interesting information via this WIkia's trivia and I was very upset when I saw, that most of it was deleted. Trivia isn't this important part of an article and I think, that it's just the right place for such facts. Especially when it comes to very stub article of Zverovna, which only interested side is her mispelled name.

But, as I said, this is not my call and I trust you on your opinion. I'm more concerned about gangs, since they are very un-linear in HD Universe. It's interesting for me to work on gangs' articles.

About the Mission Path

I really disapointed the chart removed because of "It doesn't fit the style of the Wiki". The major reason I made that chart because the recent Missions page can't show the structure of the mission paths, that means it "lack of founction" to show up any relationship of the missions. Oh, I didn't see your post! I don't have any attitude with you, Tom, don't you worry about it. More than that, somehow I even see you as a friend here. Not the best friend, obviously, but a person, which I respect and can deal with. But you're cold. And sometimes I pity people, whos trivia you've deleted. Because, just like them, I'm the kind of person who thinks, that there is no such thing as "too much facts about GTA".

Vasquez

Should I delete the Vasquez page? It doesn't state anywhere in the article what mission she appears in and I don't know if Vasquez is even her real name. Ice finn (talk) 03:57, March 14, 2014 (UTC)

Sorry for breaking in your discussion with Mikey, but I think someone should point out some facts.

Some resources , including Wikipedia , which you referenced in your previous answer to Mikey, say that all words in titles should be capitalized. Quotes:

Always capitalize the first and last words of titles of publications regardless of their parts of speech. Capitalize other words within titles, including the short verb forms Is, Are, and Be. —' Grammarbook.com

In English, some authors/publishers capitalize the first word and the last word of titles. In addition, they believe that all nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, and subordinate conjunctions should be capitalized. — Wikipedia

Another important thing is other gangs' names in other articles, such as Korean Mob. They word "mob" is usually capitalized.

And another important thing is LCPD Database which we should see as a source. It uses capitalized form of names, like Ancelotti Crime Syndicate. That's how we understand, that this is the name and not just specification.

More than that, Wikipedia uses "crime family" as specification. We use it as a part of the name. Wikipedia doesn't have any source, which reference to the Gambinos, for example, can be considered as official name. We have such source, which is GTA itself. So if GTA uses term "Crime Family" or "Crime Syndicate" with capital letters, we should follow the example.

And... I know it's silly thing to say, but why don't somebody rename this articles on Wikipedia? :) I'm not sure the matter of capitalization was discussed there as much as here. :)

And if you interested in my opinion, "Ancelotti crime family" as a title just looks ugly.

Crime family isn't capitalised on any reputable Mafia related website. GTA never says "Crime Family" to my knowledge. I don't have time to go into some big debate, and no I'm not interested in your opinion - which I completely disagree with as I believe that "Ancelotti Crime Family" looks ugly. Either get some time for debate, or stop undoing things, which people have time to think and debate about.

"Reputable Mafia websites", as you call them, write about real-life crime families. We're writing about gangs in GTA, and most of them have names, which means capital letters. Them families are called "Crime Syndicates" in-game and I know, that this wikia is supposed to follow exactly this example in naming articles. So articles about crime families in GTA IV should be renamed in "Crime Syndicates" with capital letters, And inside the article itself, not in the title, the gangs can be called families or crime families, since this is not official name.

And I don't know why I, as a foreigner, should teach you your language, but in English all words in titles should be written with capital letters, as two resources, which I presented you above, totally confirmed. I don't think that your "reputable Mafia websites" are more reputable in the matter of grammary, than GrammarBook.com.

If that isn't attitude then I don't know what is - watch it or I will block you. You've got a history with this so you shouldn't need another warning.

You're not teaching me about my own language, you're Googling things that you think contradict my points. You're a hypocrite for disputing a Wikipedia title as not valid when you've previously used one as "evidence".

Mikey was undoing my edits without consulting me, so I undid his and consulted him - not you.

The term "family" is used constantly in game when describing Mafia groups, far more than one or two mentions on the LCPD Database. "Family" implies an actual family - such as the McReary family - so crime family fits perfectly.

"All words in titles should be written in capitals"? No, that might be the case in American English which you seem to be using - or rather the websites you copy everything you say from use - but in real English that is not the case.

When I say "I don't have time to go into some big debate" I mean I don't have time to talk to you. It's never a simple discussion with you. You make it far more complex than is necessary, I only have limited time available on the Wiki and you're consuming that time by arguing about everything I do.

I'm normally willing to have a democratic discussion, I could've easily sorted out any issues with Mikey - who I reiterate, undid my revisions before I undid his - but you get involved when you shouldn't. Tom ^Talk 19:58, March 15, 2014 (UTC)

So...like I said, I prefer "Crime Family" to "crime family", but after checking Wikipedia's mafia pages, for the title, I confirmed that they do write "crime family".

Again, this is something very minor, and I don't think it is worth arguing over, but I'll leave that for both of you to discuss.

That said, I'm out of the discussion at this point. You sort this arguing out yourselves.

That was so much simpler. That would've been the end of it and everything would've been fine. See that Orto? That was all that was really needed. I agree Mikey, it is a was a very minor issue.
