In [[Grand Theft Auto: Vice City]], a wide array of weapons become available as the player completes more missions. The game features the most Melee Weapons in any GTA so far; and there is also a wide array of pistols, shotguns, and submachine guns. Guns may be purchased at [[Ammu-Nation]] and other types of weapons (such as baseball bats, hammers and chainsaws) can be bought at various hardware stores. Subsequently; after the release of the original Vice City, Rockstar was forced to drop the real names of the guns due to trademark reasons, likely being approached by Heckler & Koch the maker of the MP5, PSG1. Therefore the names you see for guns in the brackets are standard for all newer versions of [[Vice City]] for both [[PS2]] and [[Xbox]]. It can also be noted that after the change the Ruger/Kruger is shortened and given a black skin, while the PSG1 is now standard with a mock silencer.

Revision as of 20:29, 10 October 2014

In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, a wide array of weapons become available as the player completes more missions. There is a wide array of pistols, shotguns, and submachine guns, some of which can be purchased at Ammu-Nation. The game also features the most melee weapons in any GTA game so far, some of which can be bought at various hardware stores. Subsequently after the release of the original GTA Vice City for the PlayStation 2, Rockstar dropped the real names of the guns, probably due to trademark reasons likely being approached by Heckler & Koch, the maker of the MP5 and PSG1. Therefore some weapons on the list have two names, the first coming from the original PS2 version while the second coming from subsequent PS2 versions and the PC and Xbox versions. There are other physical differences to the guns between the original and subsequent versions, including the Ruger/Kruger is shortened and given a black skin, while the PSG1 is now standard with a mock silencer. Notice the weapon HUD is very unique and cannot be seen in any other games.
