Annis is based on the real life company Nissan, although some of its cars (Savestra, RE-7B) are Mazda vehicles. The name is a close anagram of Nissan, while the badge looks similar to the 1992–1997 Mazda logos.

- Annis is almost a direct anagram of Nissan, being the last two letters followed by the first three. The only omission is a second "S". Its name is also a play on the word "anus".
