− | |
+ | The BMX is a BMX bike with a relatively similar design throughout the games it appears in, sporting a compact frame, a sturdy handlebar and traditional wheels. |
+ | ===3D Universe=== |
− | The BMX is a bicycle in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, and Grand Theft Auto V. |
+ | In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the bike assumes a generic design resembling pre-2000 BMX models, given the dual brakes on the handlebars. It has pegs on the rear wheels and a bell that rings when the horn button is used. The vehicle comes in a variety of primary colors applied to the main frame. |
+ | In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, the bike resembles an Ashtabula Black Diamond BMX Bike, given the paddings on the main frame and the handlebars. It has taller handlebars and larger wheels than the GTA San Andreas iteration and lacks a bell. The BMX is available in two variants: |
− | == Description == |
+ | *The first one,
bmxboy
, is the regular version with the typical Bicycle frame that only spawns in a black color. |
− | === Design === |
+ | *The second one,
bmxgirl
, is a "female" variation with a step-through frame and a front-mounted basket, and it only spawns in a pink color. |
− | The BMX, as implied, a BMX bike sporting compact frame and wheels, and a sturdy handlebar. While the San Andreas rendition consists only of the bare essentials, the Vice City Stories rendition comes with padding on portions of the frame; Vice City Stories even features a girly variation of the BMX, which features a step-through frame (as opposed to a diamond frame), a pink frame color and a front mounted basket. The Vice City Stories rendition features larger wheels and higher handlebars, appearing larger than the San Andreas rendition. |
+ | ===Grand Theft Auto V and Online=== |
− | === Performance === |
+ | In Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, the BMX has almost the same design as in GTA San Andreas, but it is even smaller. The bike only has one brake on the right handlebar and does not feature a bell or light. Despite the description of the bicycle stating it has pegs, the in-game model does not feature any. The BMX spawns in a variety of primary colors for the frame. |
− | One of the BMX's major advantages is its maneuverability. In addition to its compact size, the BMX also allows the player to execute super high bunny-hops along with the standard fare of wheelies and stoppies. In Vice City Stories, players can only execute a low bunny hop using the BMX. |
+ | Clr |
− | The BMX's top speed, however, is wedged between that of the Bike and the Mountain Bike, and is not considerably fast as a result. The BMX is also unintended for off-road use, as the player is prone to dismounts from the bike and the resulting injuries; neither is it suited for getaways when pursued by cops. |

+ | One of the major advantages of the BMX is its maneuverability. In addition to its compact size, the BMX also allows the player to execute very high bunny hops, along with the standard fare of wheelies and stoppies. In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, players can only execute a low bunny hop using the BMX. |
+ | |||
+ | The top speed of the BMX is the middle figure for the bicycles in the game (ahead of the Bike and behind the Mountain Bike) and is not especially fast. The BMX is not suited for off-road cycling or as a getaway vehicle. |
+ | |||
+ | The BMX in GTA San Andreas is indestructible, but the BMX in GTA Vice City Stories can be rendered unusable by burning it with the Flamethrower/Molotov or even by throwing an explosive near it. |

+ | ===Grand Theft Auto V and Online=== |
+ | In Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online the BMX is not as fast as the three race bikes (Tri-Cycles, Whippet and Endurex) and the Scorcher, but is faster than the Cruiser. The BMX is quite small, light and maneuverable, making it easier to perform stunts such as bunny hops and wheelies. The BMX is not indestructible, and the wheels can be dismounted if the player collides with another object or vehicle at high speed. |

+ | ==Prominent Appearances in Missions== |
− | ==Trivia== |
+ | ===Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas=== |
− | *The San Andreas rendition features a ringing bell in place of a horn (although there is no actual bell on the bike itself). The Vice City Stories rendition lacks any of these equipment. |
+ | *The BMX is the first vehicle the player is instructed to use at the start of the game. |
− | *Like other bicycles and trains (the Brown Streak and Freight), the BMX vehicle is indestructible. It is, however, worth noting that the BMX, like any other bicycle in San Andreas, can burst into flames if the bike ends up resting upside down. This is probably a designer oversight, because the task of getting a bicycle upside down is next to impossible. |
+ | *During the mission Sweet & Kendl, four BMX bikes are used as "getaway vehicles" by CJ, Sweet, Ryder and Big Smoke to go back to Grove Street after the Ballas destroyed Smoke's car. |
− | *Just like any other vehicle, if a cop sees you taking the bike from a parking lot, a one-star wanted rating is applied, just as you get for stealing a car. This even applies if you take the bike outside Roboi's Food Mart, when you've been authorized to use it. |
+ | *One of the couriers rides a BMX in "Supply Lines...". |
− | *The BMX is the first vehicle introduced to the player in San Andreas. |
+ | *The player can participate in a side mission called the BMX Challenge, where Carl must pass through a number of red coronas. |
− | *There is a trick when you pop a wheelie and hold X, you will be in a wheelie until you release X or brake. |
+ | *In one of the courier missions, at Roboi's Food Mart, the player uses a BMX. |
− | *Along with the Tug and Bus, the BMX is one of the three shortest-named vehicles in the series of Grand Theft Auto. |
+ | |||
− | *In Vice City Stories, BMX is never ridden by other people. Only the player can ride it. |
− | + | ===Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories=== |
+ | *A BMX is parked next to Marty's trailer in D.I.V.O.R.C.E.. It can be used to chase Marty to prevent him from bringing Louise to the brothel in Little Haiti. |
− | *In the Game Informer Demo of Grand Theft Auto V, Michael is seen riding a BMX. |
+ | *Vic can use a BMX bike in the mission Kill Phil: Part 2 while he is inside the Hyman Memorial Stadium. This the best way to travel through the Stadium as there is a very limited amount of time. |
− | *If you throw a grenade at the BMX and quickly enter it, you will be wasted as if the BMX exploded, however, there is no exploding animation. This has been tested on Vice City Stories. |
+ | *There is a side-mission called Mashin' Up The Mall, where Vic must pass through various coronas inside the North Point Mall by using a BMX. |
+ | *There is another side-mission called BMX Time Trials, where Vic can race through a course and beat the target time, obviously by using a BMX. |
+ | |||
+ | ===Grand Theft Auto V=== |
+ | *In Daddy's Little Girl, one of the bikes that spawns at the bike rental place is a BMX. |
+ | *Used by three NPCs during the mission Hood Safari, when the player approaches the cul-de-sac. This is an easter egg that references the mission "Sweet & Kendl" in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. |
+ | |||
+ | ===Grand Theft Auto Online=== |
+ | *Used by attacking enemies in the Grove Street Survival and the Scrapyard Survival. |
+ | *Used by the Ballas during the investigation mission "The Ballas". |
+ | *Used by the player/s during the first segment of First Dose 4 - Uncontrolled Substance. |
+ | *Appears inside Ballas-controlled Stash Houses. |
==Locations== |
==Locations== |
+ | In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto V, BMXs are commonly ridden by pedestrians. However, in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, the BMX only spawns in certain areas of the city and is not used by pedestrians. |

The BMX is a bicycle in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online.
Design
The BMX is a BMX bike with a relatively similar design throughout the games it appears in, sporting a compact frame, a sturdy handlebar and traditional wheels.
3D Universe
In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the bike assumes a generic design resembling pre-2000 BMX models, given the dual brakes on the handlebars. It has pegs on the rear wheels and a bell that rings when the horn button is used. The vehicle comes in a variety of primary colors applied to the main frame.
In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, the bike resembles an Ashtabula Black Diamond BMX Bike, given the paddings on the main frame and the handlebars. It has taller handlebars and larger wheels than the GTA San Andreas iteration and lacks a bell. The BMX is available in two variants:
- The first one,
bmxboy
, is the regular version with the typical diamond frame that only spawns in a black color. - The second one,
bmxgirl
, is a "female" variation with a step-through frame and a front-mounted basket, and it only spawns in a pink color.
Grand Theft Auto V and Online
In Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, the BMX has almost the same design as in GTA San Andreas, but it is even smaller. The bike only has one brake on the right handlebar and does not feature a bell or light. Despite the description of the bicycle stating it has pegs, the in-game model does not feature any. The BMX spawns in a variety of primary colors for the frame.

Performance
3D Universe
One of the major advantages of the BMX is its maneuverability. In addition to its compact size, the BMX also allows the player to execute very high bunny hops, along with the standard fare of wheelies and stoppies. In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, players can only execute a low bunny hop using the BMX.
The top speed of the BMX is the middle figure for the bicycles in the game (ahead of the Bike and behind the Mountain Bike) and is not especially fast. The BMX is not suited for off-road cycling or as a getaway vehicle.
The BMX in GTA San Andreas is indestructible, but the BMX in GTA Vice City Stories can be rendered unusable by burning it with the Flamethrower/Molotov or even by throwing an explosive near it.

Grand Theft Auto V and Online
In Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online the BMX is not as fast as the three race bikes (Tri-Cycles, Whippet and Endurex) and the Scorcher, but is faster than the Cruiser. The BMX is quite small, light and maneuverable, making it easier to perform stunts such as bunny hops and wheelies. The BMX is not indestructible, and the wheels can be dismounted if the player collides with another object or vehicle at high speed.
