The Barracks is Victor Vance's first safehouse in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.

Description

This safehouse temporarily becomes available to Victor beginning with the initial VCS mission, Soldier. The interior design is based upon a standard army barracks. The barracks contains rooms for a superior officer (a personal dorm and an office, presumably for a drill instructor) in the front, a recruits' dorm with several beds in the middle (where the save point is located), and toilets and showers at the back. Although intended to house a number of soldiers, no one but Victor is ever shown using the building (likely due to Jerry Martinez using Victor as a mule for hiding drugs on the base).

Near the interior save point is a pistol spawn point. There is no wardrobe, garage, or health pickup amenities, however a health pick-up spawns a few doors away, and a Patriot spawns across the street from the safehouse.

During his career in the army, Victor hides a package of drugs under his bed under orders of his superior officer, Jerry Martinez. At the end of the game's third storyline mission, Conduct Unbecoming, Victor loses access to the safehouse after the drugs are discovered by Sergeant Peppah and is kicked out of the army.

Later on, during the mission Over the Top, Victor is able to reenter the barracks and the pistol pickup is still available, though the save point is disabled. After the mission is complete, it becomes inaccessible once more.

Triva

  • It is the first safehouse(and the only one in the 3D Universe) to be inaccessible to the Player after completing a certain mission. Other safehouses that will be inaccessible to the player after completing certain missions are:

    • The Lost MC warehouse after the events of the  mission Get Lost(The Lost and the Damned)
