The Burrito is a recurring van which appears in both the 3D Universe and the HD Universe. It is manufactured by Declasse in the HD Universe.

Influence[]

3D Universe[]

The Burrito in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories resembles a 1986–1993 Dodge Ram Van, similar to the Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories renditions of the Rumpo, with elements taken from third-generation Ford Ecoline.

HD Universe[]

The HD Universe rendition of Burrito is designed in the likeness of the 1996–2002 Chevrolet Express, with a grille following the shape of the GMC Savana 1996–2002 and the headlights and tail lights layout taken from the 1992–1996 Chevrolet Van. The front bumper seems to be inspired by the 1997–2002 Ford Econoline. Major influences from the third-generation Dodge Ram Van can be seen in the side profile, rear fascia, and wider appearance. Some details may have been taken from the third-generation Chevrolet Van.

Design[]

3D Universe[]

In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, the Burrito is depicted with a large front end, lower extensions and concave panels on the lower side and the rear compartment. Burritos in GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas are available with or without a spoiler and roof-mounted lights; these features are standard on all Burritos in GTA Vice City Stories. The Burrito in GTA Vice City Stories features two-tone body colors on the upper and lower halves, unlike other renditions.

Grand Theft Auto IV[]

Reintroduced in Grand Theft Auto IV, the Burrito assumes a more utilitarian design, no longer featuring the sporty accessories from previous renditions. The front of the van is protected by a large plastic bumper, bearing a silver detail on the upper area and a moulding around the center. On the front face, there is a silver trim surrounding the grille and the headlights, a silver separation between these two components and small vents just above the central area of the bumper. Each headlight consist of dual square-shaped lights on the upper side and narrow rectangular lights on the lower side, in addition of the turn signals on the edges. The grille separation bears the silver "DECLASSE" lettering, while the upper half of the grille bears the emblem.

The sides of the van feature black sections on the wheel arches and ridged details passing through the sides. The front doors are large and feature square-shaped mirrors supported by twin frames, as well as black door handles. The roof is always fitted with a roof rack.

The rear end of the van features a silver bumper and small tail lights with a layout similar to the 3D Universe model, being res square lights with smaller reverse lights within the same. The rear doors have upper panels in place of rear windows, covering the interior of the rear compartment, with the passenger-side door having a handle. Just above each edge of the rear bumper, there is a red badge displaying the vehicle's name on the left and a silver "Ultra Diesel 3000" badge on the right, while the exhaust pipe can be seen below, on the passenger side.

The Burrito may spawn with a livery around the rear compartment, which include T.Watts & Sons, Spin on This Laundromat, LibEl and Pharte Gas. The roof rack can have either stacked piping or horizontally-laid scaffold piping tied to the rack. The Burrito only spawns in a single color, although, if the player manages to change it through a trainer, the secondary color will be applied to the side panels and the rear doors. It uses a set of industrial wheels also seen on various industrial vehicles.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars[]

The Burrito in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars appears to be based to an extent on the same Burrito in GTA IV, with a utilitarian appearance and a large hood intake. However, the van lacks a roof rack, and its color scheme appear more diverse, with some featuring company liveries encompassing the entire body of the vehicle, including FlyUS, Sprunk, Eris, Burger Shot, and Ranch.

Grand Theft Auto V and Online[]

The Burrito returns in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online with the same design and features as in GTA IV. However, thanks to the revised graphics, chrome finishes have been highlighted. One minor change is the front door handles; the original plastic vertical handles were replaced by chrome horizontal handles. The interior uses a large dashboard with analog dials also used on some trucks.

The vehicle may appear with a livery around the rear compartment, which include Los Santos Department of Water & Power, Atomic and Pharte Gas. Again, Burritos only spawn in single colors, with the same industrial wheels seen on large trucks.

Performance[]

3D Universe[]

The Burrito is widely considered to be the best van in the 3D Universe. Its powerful engine grants it moderately good speed and acceleration, its sporty suspension leads to stable handling, steering and braking, and its bulky body gives it good endurance. It can carry four people, making it useful when bringing allies to a fight, although its large frame can make it an easy target for gunfire. It is also fun to drive, with independent rear suspension that makes drifting and powersliding easy (although it is easy to spin out and crash) and often causes the rear inside wheel to lift off the ground for some stylish showboating.

The van has lower ground clearance in GTA San Andreas and GTA Vice City Stories than in GTA Vice City.

Grand Theft Auto IV[]

The GTA IV Burrito has degraded performance; it is not as fast as previous renditions, and, although its extra mass allows it to withstand more damage, this gives it poor acceleration. Nonetheless, the Burrito is the fastest vehicle in the "Van" class.

The Burrito is powered by a single-cam Inline-4 engine, coupled to a 5-speed gearbox in a front engine, rear wheel drive layout. Its engine sound is low-revving and smooth, similar to the other vans featured in the game and the Steed.

Grand Theft Auto V and Online[]

The Burrito in GTA V retains many of its qualities from GTA IV, with slight improvements to handling and speed. As an effect of GTA V's new driving physics system, steering has more than compensated for the vehicle's girth, and a marginally improved top speed has allowed the Burrito to remain the fastest van in the game. Durability of the vehicle remains excellent, as it can endure light collisions with ease.

The van is powered by the same single-cam inline-4 engine, coupled to a 5-speed gearbox in a front engine, rear wheel drive layout.

Trivia[]

General[]

  • "Burrito" literally means "small donkey" in Spanish and Portuguese, referring to its type of utility vehicle, compared to the Pony.
    • It might also be named after the food item of the same name.
    • The Burrito is called the 屌客 or Dick-Master in the international Chinese release. It was also the working translation for Declasse.
  • A vehicle resembling the Burrito can be found in Rockstar North's Manhunt 2. The Bloodhounds from said game also uses a military-like van based on the same vehicle.

3D Universe[]

  • With the roof lights and spoiler installed, the Burrito bears a strong resemblance to the van used in the 1980s TV show The A-Team.
  • In the 10th Anniversary Edition of GTA Vice CIty, the lower half of the Burrito's turn lights are in red instead of orange.

HD Universe[]

  • Beta Burritos appear as wrecks in GTA IV with a different grille and headlight design. It's found inside the Alderney Casino. This beta Burrito wreck also appears in multiple Scrap Yards in GTA V.
