Cassidy Creek is a large creek featured in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, located in Blaine County. It runs from the Alamo Sea to the Pacific Ocean through Raton Canyon. It features multiple rapids and waterfalls. The banks of the creek are heavily forested by giant sequoia trees toward its western end, and features paths popular with hikers.
Events of GTA Online
In the Heist Setup Pacific Standard - Signal, the GTA Online Protagonists rescue fugitive hacker Avi Schwartzman from government agents, and escort him upstream of Cassidy Creek to the Alamo Sea and on to a small farm in Grapeseed.
The Creek is once again visited during The Pacific Standard Job, serving as the creek where the boat the players use to escape is located. The team jump off their bikes and parachute down the creek, to the boat.
Events of GTA V
In the mission Derailed, Michael and Trevor hijack a freight train with Merryweather Security cargo. Trevor lets it crash on the train bridge above Cassidy Creek. Most cargo containers fall into the water where Michael blows the doors of off the target container in order to get the payload located inside. Once the loot has been collected, Trevor fends off Merryweather troops while Michael pilots their Dinghy through the creek towards the ocean to escape.
- There are four parachute jumps in this area that the player can complete.
- The name probably is a reference to Phil Cassidy, but could be a nod to a classic scene from the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, in which the titular protagonists jump off a cliff, similar to those in Raton Canyon, into rapids below.
- Even though there is a train blocking the path after Derailed, trains will still come through the bridge, ignoring the obstacles and going through them. This makes the bridge a dangerous hazard when a train is coming.
- There is a street in GTA IV called Cassidy Street.
