For the animal, see Crow (animal).

Bernard Gordon, known professionally as Crow, is an English rock star in both the 3D Universe and HD Universe of the Grand Theft Auto series, who is heard in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and mentioned in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories and Grand Theft Auto IV.

History[]

3D Universe[]

Events of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories[]

He has been famous since 1980 as the lead singer/tambourinist of Ambulance, a "power pop reggae afro-beat" band. He claims that his two bandmates (one named Trev) were his best friends since childhood. Crow got 80% of the band's royalties, and left the band in three days before a world tour after ugly arguments over said royalties. His first solo project was a 1984 charity concert in Africa (all according to the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories website).

Bryony Craddock hates Crow and has successfully campaigned to get his songs off the radio stations in Vice City.

Events of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas[]

In 1992, according to a WCTR News report in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, he threatened to give up musical performances, leading to great rejoicing in the US.

Events of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories[]

In 1998, he appears on the LCFR segment Breathing World having an interview with Melissa Chowder to promote his concert, Crowfest '98 at Liberty Memorial Coliseum. After playing a tape of their first meeting (about him influencing a native tribe in the jungles of Peru), Crow declares his love for her.

It is revealed during his interview in LCFR that he is using an unknown drug as an escape from reality.

HD Universe[]

Events of Grand Theft Auto IV[]

In 2008, in a Grand Theft Auto IV television commercial, he announces a large concert in Iran (calling it a "reunion").

Events of Grand Theft Auto V[]

Crow co-wrote and/or performed "This Is A Power Ballad" with Jezz Torrent in 1991.

Influence[]

Crow's single name, activism and love of tantric sex mean he is likely a parody of rock star Sting. His band The Ambulance may also be a reference to Sting's band The Police. The name Crow appears to be derived from professional wrestler Sting, who adopted a gimmick inspired by Brandon Lee's character from the 1993 film The Crow, including black facepaint.

Trivia[]

  • At an unknown point in time, he was in another band called The Toilet (according to the Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories website).
  • As seen on the GTA Liberty City Stories promotional website "crowfest98.com", Crow assumes the appearance of a pedestrian from GTA San Andreas, but without face paint. Ironically, this is the same pedestrian that is notable for bearing an uncanny resemblance to Kurt Cobain, the late singer/guitarist of grunge and rock band Nirvana.
