+ | The Dinghy is a small boat which appears in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, Grand Theft Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online. It is manufactured by Nagasaki in the HD Universe. |
+ | ==Design== |
− | The Dinghy is a small boat which appears in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, Grand Theft Auto IV Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars and Grand Theft Auto V. |
+ | ===3D Universe=== |
+ | In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, the Dinghy is designed as a small inflatable boat with two rear-mounted motors, possibly based on a Zodiac Classic Mark II. |
+ | It is one of the smallest boats in the 3D Universe, having a compact, inflatable hull with a small hook/handle on the bow/front end, lifeline ropes on the port and starboard sides, and various cleats/handles, with the frontal ones holding a small tarpaulin. The deck/interior of the boat is relatively compact as well, with a single tall console for the driver, two sitting boards around the stern/rear area, and two outboard engines on the transom. |
− | == Description == |
− | Throughout its appearances, the Dinghy is primarily distinguished by its inflatable hull, but is further categorized into two designs: |
+ | The Dinghy is normally available in a light grey primary colour for the inflatable hull, with the console, deck and transom painted with a secondary colour. |
− | * In GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas, GTA Vice City Stories and GTA Chinatown Wars, the Dinghy is designed as a small inflatable boat with two rear-mounted motors, being one of the smallest boats in the games. |
− | * In GTA IV, the Dinghy resembles a military RHIB (Rigid-Hull Inflatable Boat), is available with one or two motors, and can hold a maximum of four people. |
+ | ===Grand Theft Auto IV=== |
− | Due to its size and lightweight construction, the boat is nimble and maneuverable, and has the potential to reach a moderately high top speed. Despite its construction, inflatable portions of the Dinghy do not deflate or burst when shot. |
+ | In Grand Theft Auto IV, the Dinghy bears a larger design, resembling a military Rigid-hulled inflatable boat such as the https://usmi.com/portfolio/11m-nswrib/. |
+ | The Dinghy retains the characteristic inflatable hull like previous renditions, but assumes a larger hull with rubbing strake protection around the outer portions and lifeline ropes on the port and starboard sides. The deck features a larger console with similar features as conventional boats, a small windscreen on top and four bucket seats with rollbar loops on the upper area, while the stern features a flat transom, two long antennas on the rear quarters, and protection frames partially surrounding the twin outboard engines. The boat may spawn with three different extras: |

+ | |||
+ | ===Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars=== |
+ | In Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, the design of the Dinghy appears to combine elements from the 3D Universe and GTA IV iterations, with the Android/iOS versions leaning more towards the latter. The character also appears to stand up behind the steering wheel. |
+ | |||
+ | ===Grand Theft Auto V and Online=== |
+ | In Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, the Dinghy retains the same design, features, and extras as the GTA IV iterations, but adds a pair of circular headlights on the bow, and the mounted light on the optional rear frame works as a high-beam light. In the enhanced version, the console of the boat uses "Truck" analogue dials, also shared with other boats. |
+ | |||
+ | It spawns in four different colour sets, assigning a primary colour to the hull and main inflatable body, and a secondary colour to the main console, a small frame on the dashboard, the rollbar loops on the seats, the inner frames/side-joiners on the deck, the aft-mounted frame and the protective frames on the stern. |
+ | |||
+ | In GTA V, the player is provided with scuba gear upon exiting the vehicle. |

+ | ==Performance== |
+ | ===3D Universe=== |
+ | Designed as a small and light boat, the Dinghy has good acceleration and top speed, and is very manoeuvrable. Because of its flat bottom reducing friction between the ground and the boat, the Dinghy is perfect for purposely grounding up a beach when in a hurry, as it can easily be pushed back. In fact, that is what it was meant to do, as a lightweight, agile, fast boat that does not need to be properly docked to stay still. Its downside, however, is that it cannot sustain as much damage as other boats, so it is advisable to avoid using it for combat situations. |
+ | |||
+ | The Dinghy is powered by two small outboard engines and shares the same sound as most conventional boats. Similar to the Coast Guard, the engines have "1000" markings, suggesting they are 1000cc engines. |
+ | |||
+ | The GTA Vice City Stories rendition of the Dinghy is much heavier and slower in comparison to the other 3D Universe renditions of the boat. |

+ | |||
+ | ===Grand Theft Auto IV=== |
+ | The Dinghy remains as one of the best boats for use. While not performing as well as the 3D Universe iteration due to its increased size, it still has good top speed and manoeuvrability. Its large capacity also allows to carry more allies, being an ideal choice for attacking enemy boats, though it still has rather weak armour in comparison to other boats. |
+ | |||
+ | The Dinghy is powered by two outboard engines and emits a relatively mid-revving sound compared to most speedboats. |
+ | |||
+ | ====GTA IV Overview==== |
+ | {{Watercraftstats-gtaiv |

+ | |||
+ | ===Grand Theft Auto V and Online=== |
+ | The Dinghy retains its performance traits as in GTA IV, and due to the improved handling physics, the boat seems to be lighter and quicker. It is a good choice for navigating though narrow waterways such as the Vespucci Canals and the Raton Canyon creek. In GTA V, the Dinghy is temporarily equipped with a sonar when required in searching for Submarine Pieces. |
+ | |||
+ | Again, the Dinghy is powered by two outboard engines, emitting a quieter sound, slightly more high-revving than in GTA IV. |

The Dinghy is a small boat which appears in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, Grand Theft Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online. It is manufactured by Nagasaki in the HD Universe.
Design
3D Universe
In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, the Dinghy is designed as a small inflatable boat with two rear-mounted motors, possibly based on a Zodiac Classic Mark II.
It is one of the smallest boats in the 3D Universe, having a compact, inflatable hull with a small hook/handle on the bow/front end, lifeline ropes on the port and starboard sides, and various cleats/handles, with the frontal ones holding a small tarpaulin. The deck/interior of the boat is relatively compact as well, with a single tall console for the driver, two sitting boards around the stern/rear area, and two outboard engines on the transom.
The Dinghy is normally available in a light grey primary colour for the inflatable hull, with the console, deck and transom painted with a secondary colour.
Grand Theft Auto IV
In Grand Theft Auto IV, the Dinghy bears a larger design, resembling a military Rigid-hulled inflatable boat such as the Naval Special Warfare RHIB.
The Dinghy retains the characteristic inflatable hull like previous renditions, but assumes a larger hull with rubbing strake protection around the outer portions and lifeline ropes on the port and starboard sides. The deck features a larger console with similar features as conventional boats, a small windscreen on top and four bucket seats with rollbar loops on the upper area, while the stern features a flat transom, two long antennas on the rear quarters, and protection frames partially surrounding the twin outboard engines. The boat may spawn with three different extras:
- A silver/chrome hand rail around the front/windscreen of the main console.
- A black front frame with a radar dome and a small antenna next to it.
- An aft-mounted frame with a radar dome, an unusable light and a small antenna next to it.
The Dinghy only spawns in a black colour.
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
In Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, the design of the Dinghy appears to combine elements from the 3D Universe and GTA IV iterations, with the Android/iOS versions leaning more towards the latter. The character also appears to stand up behind the steering wheel.
Grand Theft Auto V and Online
In Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, the Dinghy retains the same design, features, and extras as the GTA IV iterations, but adds a pair of circular headlights on the bow, and the mounted light on the optional rear frame works as a high-beam light. In the enhanced version, the console of the boat uses "Truck" analogue dials, also shared with other boats.
It spawns in four different colour sets, assigning a primary colour to the hull and main inflatable body, and a secondary colour to the main console, a small frame on the dashboard, the rollbar loops on the seats, the inner frames/side-joiners on the deck, the aft-mounted frame and the protective frames on the stern.
In GTA V, the player is provided with scuba gear upon exiting the vehicle.

Performance
3D Universe
Designed as a small and light boat, the Dinghy has good acceleration and top speed, and is very manoeuvrable.
The Dinghy is powered by two small outboard engines and shares the same sound as most conventional boats. Similar to the Coast Guard, the engines have "1000" markings, suggesting they are 1000cc engines.
The GTA Vice City Stories rendition of the Dinghy is much heavier and slower in comparison to the other 3D Universe renditions of the boat.

Grand Theft Auto IV
The Dinghy remains as one of the best boats for use. While not performing as well as the 3D Universe iteration due to its increased size, it still has good top speed and manoeuvrability. Its large capacity also allows to carry more allies, being an ideal choice for attacking enemy boats, though it still has rather weak armour in comparison to other boats.
The Dinghy is powered by two outboard engines and emits a relatively mid-revving sound compared to most speedboats.

Grand Theft Auto V and Online
The Dinghy retains its performance traits as in GTA IV, and due to the improved handling physics, the boat seems to be lighter and quicker. It is a good choice for navigating though narrow waterways such as the Vespucci Canals and the Raton Canyon creek. In GTA V, the Dinghy is temporarily equipped with a sonar when required in searching for Submarine Pieces.
Again, the Dinghy is powered by two outboard engines, emitting a quieter sound, slightly more high-revving than in GTA IV.
