Head Radio is a radio station featured in Grand Theft Auto, Grand Theft Auto 2, Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. In all renditions, it is a mainstream radio that plays pop, rock, and techno.

Description[]

The station's DJs include Eddie Symons in the first Grand Theft Auto), Phanny Joe Styles and Johnny Riccaro (Grand Theft Auto 2), and Michael Hunt (Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories). Head Radio began broadcasting in 1941 and by 2001 is one of many radio stations owned by Love Media.

In its first rendition it is meant to represent a charts radio.[3] Through its different renditions it would remain as a mainstream radio that airs pop and, to a lesser extent, rock. In Grand Theft Auto 2, Head Radio is unique among the radio stations for featuring two DJs who play alternating genres – Phanny Joe Styles plays dance and pop music while Johnny Riccaro plays rock and jazzstep. In the 3D Universe, Head Radio is one of three pop stations operating in Liberty City (alongside Lips 106 and Flashback FM), and is distinguished by its contemporary pop-rock sound.

In the 2D Universe, the Head Radio Headquarters are located in Bayano, Industrial District, Anywhere City, as seen in Grand Theft Auto 2. A radio headquarters is also mentioned to be located somewhere around the borough of Kings in Liberty City in the original Grand Theft Auto.

In the 3D Universe, the Head Radio Headquarters is located in Harwood, Portland, Liberty City, as seen in Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. According to the official GTA III website, the station also transmits from the KBDDF Radio building in Newport, Staunton Island.

In the HD Universe, Head Radio sponsorship stickers are also present on the Sultan Classic when applying the "Fukaru Racing" livery in Grand Theft Auto Online.
