Forums Help Desk Odd Bug With Modification Prices in GTAV

I've noticed this issue while running through the mod upgrade list for all vehicles in GTAV/Online, and figured I should bring it to the wider attention of the wiki users and staff.

When taking a vehicle into LSC for the first time (after a load/starting up the game or otherwise), the prices for the "non-standard" modifications for the vehicle will be significantly lower than normal, often bottoming-out at the lowest normal price for those mods.

For example, Xenon Lights for any vehicle will display as $300, even when the price for that mod is usually $1000. (I should say, this is the only "standard" mod to fall into this behavior.) This issue has also been noticed with mods such as Exhaust, Roof, Hood, Bumpers, Spoilers, and everything else that isn't generally an upgrade for all vehicles.

I've been able to replicate it many, many times, with a ton of different vehicles and types, so it's a fairly widespread bug. Simply leaving the garage and re-entering will immediately set the prices to their correct values.

Now, I haven't done a ton of deep testing with this yet, so I'm unsure if it's just displaying the prices incorrectly, or if it's also charging the lesser amount when the upgrades are bought. I also haven't been able to narrow it down to any specific vehicles/categories, but I noticed that not every single vehicle will display this behavior.

I'm focusing on trying to finish up the full Modifications list for vehicles, since I'm already so close to finishing, and won't particularly try diving into this until after the mod lists are complete. However, if someone wants to do some testing with it in the meantime, it would be nice to narrow down the exact scope of this bug. Daft inquisitor (talk) 20:29, March 24, 2016 (UTC)

I forgot to note initially, that I haven't seen this bug in GTAO yet, only in GTAV. I think the way Online interacts with game servers prevents this bug from happening, but it's entirely possible I just happened to have not see it myself yet. So, no verification either way at this point. Still, people should keep their eye out just in case. Daft inquisitor (talk) 20:31, March 24, 2016 (UTC)
