Love Hurts is believed to be a mission from Grand Theft Auto III that was removed from the final release of the game. Given by Darkel, it is believed the objective of the mission was for the player to destroy the Love Media building with a Dodo to kill Donald Love.
Following the release of the game in October 2001, it was initially believed that this mission was removed due to the September 11 attacks on New York City. However, it was denied by Rockstar Games.
This mission served as a tutorial on how to pilot the Dodo and would have involved flying the plane towards the Love Media building and bailing out before impact. Following the removal of this mission, the wings of the Dodo were shortened. The nature of this mission also suggests that parachutes or the ability to swim were to be included in the game.
- The mission's name is a reference to the 1961 song "Love Hurts" by The Everly Brothers which was also later performed in 1976 by Nazareth.
