Description
The Moon first appeared in GTA III and has been in every GTA game since then. It is assumed that the Moon revolves around Earth, like in real life. However, the moon is never referred to as doing so in any game, and it shows as a static image in all games since GTA III, fading into view at dusk and disappearing in the same way in the morning.
It's impossible to get to the Moon, because it's only an image. The moon is a helpful tool to navigate, as it gives some light to dark rural areas such as Back O' Beyond in San Andreas.
In the 3D Universe games, shooting the moon with a Sniper Rifle will cause it to change size.
Phases
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas: Moon phases only work in the PS2 version of the game. On the PC and Xbox versions, the Moon appears like it was in Grand Theft Auto 3 and Grand Theft Auto Vice City.
- In Grand Theft Auto IV, the libration of the moon is present.
- In Grand Theft Auto V, the moon goes through phases.
Trivia
- It should be noted the GTA IV version of the moon is not as detailed and bright as in past games.
