The Oppressor Mk I was a landmark in hybrid vehicle design. Well, the Mk II takes off where its little brother landed - and it never comes down. This is about the closest you can get to throwing a saddle on a rocket engine, bolting on some optional heavy artillery, and pressing the big red button.

Please note: This vehicle can only be modified at the Specialized Workshop inside a Terrorbyte.
Warstock Cache & Carry description.

The Pegassi Oppressor Mk II is a custom hoverbike featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the After Hours update, released on August 14th, 2018, during the The Black Madonna Residency Week event.

Design[]

Grand Theft Auto Online[]

The vehicle is essentially an upgraded version of the Oppressor, replacing the land/glider characteristics of the original with the ability to hover. It appears to take influences from the BMW R1200GS Adventure Hover Ride™ concept bike, particularly with the futuristic design and angled wings. The vehicle also takes inspiration from the hover bike from the movie Looper, given the motorcycle chassis mounted over a large turbine engine.

Compared to the regular version, the vehicle has wings that extend when in flight mode and prop stands to land, along with four vectoring nozzles on either side in a similar way to the Hydra, but they automatically tilt forward or backwards depending of the direction the vehicle is moving, or remain facing down when stationary. It also has an additional turbine below the front fairing intended for pitch movements and small thrusters on the side triangular panels intended for the turning characteristics, emitting a blue glowing effect similar to the rear thrusters of the Deluxo. The upper area of the bike is mostly identical in design and features to the regular version, with the exception of an extended rear fairing, where the same rocket booster is located.

The bike's primary color is applied to most of its bodywork, while the secondary color is applied in the form of dual stripes running along the front fairing, fuel tank, rear fairing and rear panels.

The vehicle is armed with two machine guns located within the front fairing, just beside the headlamp. It can also be modified with either two small gatling guns with explosive ammo or four missile launchers.

Performance[]

Grand Theft Auto Online[]

Vehicle[]

The Oppressor Mk II has similar characteristics to the Deluxo, given the permanent hovering capabilities.

In hover mode, the vehicle handles like a normal motorbike and has a maximum speed of 208.7 kph/129.7 mph, but can perform stationary turns and can practically travel over any terrain, although caution should be taken with steep inclines or obstacles such as walls, traffic lights or trees, as it has a tendency to tilt backwards to attempt climbing the obstacle, thus dismounting the player in the process. It can also travel over water and remain safe even on huge waves during stormy weather, but unlike the Deluxo, it only hovers on the water when the engine is on. Although safety measures prevent the bike from touching the water, it won't be enough if the player tilts the bike forward, thus sinking the vehicle in the water and destroying it in the process.

In flying mode, the bike's top speed is limited to 175 kph/108.7 mph, but the mode allows it to reach areas which most aircraft struggle to, on par with the Thruster. Similar to the Deluxo, switching to flying mode is done by pulling up the stick to unfold the wings and reaching about one meter/three feet height. The bike’s pitching angle is limited to 20 degrees. By pressing the handbrake button, the vehicle's wings will retract and rapidly decreases altitude, being a faster way to get down to the ground/sea level without having to move around and tilt downward. When halted in mid-air, the vehicle will begin to descend over time. It should be noted that the only way to exit the vehicle in mid-air is while it is moving, either forwards or backwards, which causes the character to dive off. If a player attempts to exit at a standstill, the vehicle will slowly descend to the ground before the character dismounts; once begun, the player cannot cancel this action.

The vehicle is powered by a turbine engine that is apparently connected to the parallel-twin engine seen on the regular version. It emits a rather quiet noise.

Abilities[]

The bike is equipped with a rear-mounted rocket booster, which can be used as a brief speed boost on the ground or while airborne. The rocket propels the vehicle for a second and starts recharging for four seconds when not accelerating or two seconds upon braking the vehicle, similar to the KERS feature from the Lectro and the Vindicator. The rocket boost has little to no effect on top speed, but it helps significantly with gaining speed, as it alone is capable to boost the vehicle to 135 mph for a short time.

Countermeasures[]

The vehicle can be fitted with countermeasures to improve its defensive capabilities against homing missiles, each one with their own attributes:

  • The Chaff countermeasure disrupts the targeting system from missile launchers, rendering them unable to lock on the vehicle for five seconds. They have a delay of twenty seconds before being used again and only have 5 uses.
  • The Flare countermeasure drops flares behind the vehicle, which can "disorient" the homing missile in order to avoid chasing the vehicle. They have a delay of ten seconds before being used again and only have 10 uses.
    • Changed from a three second cooldown and 20 uses with The Criminal Enterprises update.
  • The Smoke countermeasure creates a trail of smoke that can disorient the enemy pilot but its effectiveness is very limited, as the trail is large enough for a standard cockpit and the enemy pilot would just need to move away and follow the smoke trail. It has no delay between uses and can be used indefinitely.

Weaponry[]

  • Machine Gun: the first option by default are two front-facing machine guns, which perform similarly to those on vehicles such as the Blazer Aqua and the Ruiner 2000, albeit with a slightly decreased damage (15, compared to the 20 damage from the aforementioned vehicles) and a lower fire rate (1,000 rounds per minute, compared to the 1,200 rounds per minute on the aforementioned vehicles). Due to the hovering capabilities, it is easier to aim at most targets while on the ground, but the limited pitching capabilities means they are difficult to use while in the air.
  • Explosive MG: the second option are two gatling guns with explosive ammo, which have similar properties to the nose turret of the Valkyrie and are able to destroy vehicles quickly, but have a relatively short range (150 meters/492 feet), smaller blast radius (1.5 meters/5 feet), and cannot knock back players. Again due to the hovering capabilities, it is easier to aim at most targets while on the ground, but the limited pitching capabilities means it is difficult to use while in the air.
  • Missiles: the third option are two homing missile launchers, which function like those on weaponized land vehicles and aircraft. However, they have a limited capacity of 20 missiles. The missiles originally had good tracking capabilities, on par with missiles from the Ruiner 2000, the Vigilante and the Deluxo, making them hard to dodge unless the missiles fly past the target, at which point they simply miss them and fly straight until impact or detonation. With the release of The Criminal Enterprises update, the missiles have a 15ms delay before they lock on to a target, along with a more narrow lock-on range reducing their manoeuvring ability.

Trivia[]

Grand Theft Auto Online[]

  • Because of its type, the Oppressor Mk II can:
    • be stored inside an MC bike garage (and indeed any standard garage), although it still requires the Terrorbyte to be modified.
    • be selected as a favorite bike, giving more advantages such as bullet resistance, health regeneration, and damage efficiency for machine guns and missiles.
  • Due to the ability to fly over obstacles and being a land vehicle simultaneously, there are several benefits and restrictions:
  • When the player is in their Kosatka, they will sometimes hear Pavel say "Have you ever tried shooting the missiles at the people on the flying bikes? Great sport here in America". This is a reference to the infamous reputation the Oppressor Mk II has gained due to players who use the vehicle to grief other players.
  • When using it, GPS waypoints still measure distance in the same manner as any land vehicle, whereas aircraft do not. This may help at determining distance towards the objective.
  • If positioned correctly, the Oppressor Mk II has the ability to hover upside down on a ceiling.
  • Though it is able to enter a Bunker, the player may not be able to drive it around the interior. Attempting to do so may force them to exit the Bunker, likely due to the bike's hovering nature.
    • Also during the entry animation, the vehicle will sometimes drive straight towards one of the edges of the bunker entrance, due to the hovering capabilities having directional offsets as expected during regular gameplay.
  • Unlike the Deluxo, the player is automatically given a Parachute when getting on the bike.
  • If the player tries to fly the Oppressor Mk II above the highest flight level, the engine shuts off and the bike starts falling. The engine will automatically restart when the bike falls below the height limit.
  • If the player tries to drive the Oppressor Mk II outside of the map by floating onto the ocean, the bike dismounts the player and they immediately die once they land in the water.
  • The vehicle appears to have invisible wheels; this can be evidenced when accelerating the bike shortly before hovering over the ground, where tire marks can be seen behind the vehicle or hearing a tire burnout sound. This is best seen on hard surfaces and pitching the vehicle upwards right upon starting the engine.
  • If the character's Style is set to put on a helmet when riding a bike, they will not do so on the Mk II due to its hovering. This can only be done inside a garage, where the Mk II will not hover.
    • Presumably because it has no tyres and can only hover, the Mk II has no garage entry cutscene, except the Arena Workshop. This results in the cutscene being skipped entirely and a much faster vehicle dismount in the garage.
  • As a weaponized vehicle, the Mk II is ineligible for The Diamond Casino & Resort's parking garage and valet service.
  • If the Mk II is the player's current active vehicle, it will spawn during some missions that use personal vehicles, such as Last Play - Bad Companies and the "Blow Up" strand of the Premium Deluxe Repo Work missions, rendering the latter easier to complete as the Mk II will lock on to target vehicles.

Bugs/Glitches[]

Grand Theft Auto Online[]

  • When deploying or retracting wings, the hitboxes of the Oppressor Mk II would extend below the vehicle causing any objects or NPCs to be hit by the adjusted hitbox but allows certain collectible items to be collected on hard to reach places. A noticeable example is done when doing Ramped Up.
  • Originally, the Oppressor Mk II was able to travel at unintended speeds (reaching the maximum speed of 180+ mph), in a similar fashion to the pre-patch Deluxo. The player simply needed to hold the bike in reverse, then pitch the bike up and down on regular intervals. This was patched in the following update, Arena War.
  • Sometimes after firing the missiles several times, the Oppressor Mk II will stop firing missiles and not respond to the player's actions at all.
  • After the The Diamond Casino & Resort update, the user of the Oppressor Mk II could not be locked on from the front by autoaim from players on the ground. Locking on to the sides and back still worked normally, however. This was fixed in the The Diamond Casino Heist update.
