"If freedom had six wheels, a diesel engine and reinforced bodywork this is probably what it would look like."
Warstock Cache & Carry, MOC cab description.

The Jobuilt Phantom Custom is an armored semi-truck featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the Gunrunning update.

Design

Grand Theft Auto Online

The entire design is heavily based on the 1984 GMC General with an Aerodynamic Sleeper Cab. The fact that it is one of the vehicles to carry the Mobile Operations Center seems to take inspirations from the F.L.A.G. Mobile Unit from Knight Rider. The Phantom Custom's headlights have a small resemblance to those of the Western Star 4800.

It assumes the body design of the regular Phantom with various alterations. The overall shape of the steel bumper is now curved at the base and lacks the red-white stripe. The headlights are no longer attached to the vehicle by the sides of the grille and are instead mounted onto the plain wheel arches themselves, surrounded by a metal plate. On the roof of the truck, the standard single horns are replaced with dual horns on either side. The sleeper cab on the rear is a bit taller than that of the normal Phantom.

The truck, alongside the Hauler Custom, is specialized in towing the Mobile Operations Center as seen in a pre-release screenshot.

Much like the Phantom Wedge, players can sit on the rear bay of the vehicle.

Performance

Grand Theft Auto Online

The Phantom Custom performs identical to that of the Phantom Wedge, except that it weights as much as the normal Phantom and has a slightly better acceleration. Compared to the Hauler Custom, the performance is identical (with or without the corresponding Mobile Operations Center) and although lacks any sort of defense on the front, it is as rigid as its cab-over-engine equivalent.

The Phantom Custom has, according to badges, a 24-valve Supercharged engine. Strangely, the engine model for the Phantom Custom appears to use 8 spark plugs textures, suggesting it is a petrol engine, untypical for a vehicle of this kind. It also suggests the engine can only be a petrol single-cam V8, but with a boxy appearance and connected to an adjacent filter. The engine sound is very different from other trucks and is shared with that of the Hauler Custom, being a low-revving diesel engine.

As with the Hauler Custom, it is incredibly durable (about 12 rocket impacts before it explodes) and offers a temporary protection to the cab occupants thanks to its bulletproof glass (about 15 bullets before it is shattered, except if the enemy player is using FMJ rounds).
