Radio Za-Za! is a mission in Grand Theft Auto 2 available during Area 1: Downtown, given to the protagonist Claude Speed by the Loony boss Elmo. The mission is available from the top green phone in the neighborhood of Fruitbat in Downtown District.

Minimum Respect for the Loonies is required in order to unlock this mission, indicated by the green light icon below the gang's respect-o-meter on the HUD.

Description

A new Zaibatsu drug combined with Futuro FM's music is driving people crazy, which Elmo considers bad for Loony reputation. As the crazed civilians in the district start to riot and randomly attack everything in their sight, the protagonist is sent to infiltrate the Futuro FM radio station in Zarelli and bomb its transmitter.

Reward

The reward for completing the mission is $20,000, +1 Score Multiplier, and increased Loonies Respect level. Futuro FM can no longer be heard in the Downtown District after this mission, unless the player saves the game after this mission and reloads it.

Transcript

The protagonist answers the phonebox in Fruitbat.

Elmo:

Hey, Jumbo, it's Elmo. A new Zaibatsu drug mixed with Futuro FM's music is sending people CRAZY. This is bad for our Loony reputation. Get some explosives and stop this madness NOW.

The protagonist drives to Futuro FM Headquarters in Zarelli.

Elmo:

The Zaibatsu are expecting you, Jumbo, so avoid the main gates. Find a back door and dump the explosives by the generator.

The protagonist kills the Zaibatsu bodyguards and collects the explosives.

Elmo:

Cool, you got the explosives. It's a RIOT at Futuro FM, pay them a visit Jumbo and crisp the DJ.

The protagonist plants the explosives in the radio tower.

Elmo:

Shift ass, Jumbo. You got FIVE seconds till she blows!

The bomb explodes.

Elmo:

Drug-induced madness was a cheap corperate cash-in but you saw through it, Jumbo. Here's $20,000. Let's get wasted!

Trivia

The name of this mission is a reference to the Queen song "Radio Ga Ga". Coincidentally, this song appears in Grand Theft Auto V, firstly in Michael's trailer to advertise the game, and also on the in-game radio station Los Santos Rock Radio.
In the PC version, civilians and gang members across the city will attack the player on sight for the duration of the mission.
