The Royal Stretch is an exclusive limousine featured in Grand Theft Auto: London 1969, serving as a replacement of the Limousine in Grand Theft Auto.

Design[]

Grand Theft Auto: London 1969[]

Despite seemingly being associated with the British royal family, the Royal Stretch appears as frequently as the Limousine in Grand Theft Auto, effectively featured as the limousine archetype in the game. The car's colour is limited to black.

In both its name and appearance, the Royal Stretch is evidently based on a Rolls-Royce Phantom from the 1950s and 1960s, which, during the late-1960s, was a preferable choice as the British royal family's state limousine. However, limited details of the Royal Stretch means the car could be assumed to be based on any of three Rolls-Royce Phantoms manufactured during the 1960s or earlier, including the Phantom IV (1950–1956; 18 produced), Phantom V (1959–1968; 516 produced) and Phantom VI (1968-1991; 374 produced).

Performance[]

Grand Theft Auto: London 1969[]

Similar to the the Limousine, the Royal Stretch's performance is underwhelming due to its size and weight, as well as poor top speed and acceleration and poor cornering.

Trivia[]

  • The "Queen's Theme" (as designated by the game soundtrack listings) is a piece of patriotic, "British-sounding" music, which plays when entering a Royal Stretch. This reinforces the idea that the vehicle is associated with the British royalty or elites.
  • While revealed in game files to possess a base export value of £1,100 in mint condition, the Royal Stretch cannot be exported due to its size; this problem is also evident in its Grand Theft Auto: London 1961 replacement, the Bentover.
