San Andreas is the primary setting of Grand Theft Auto V, appearing in the form of an American state like its predecessor. Unlike its predecessor however this time it is only based on one U.S. state (the real life state of California). Only a certain region of the state is explored however, namely, a heavily revised rendition of Los Santos, as well as a new rural area in the form of Blaine County which are counties in the region of Southern San Andreas (based on Southern California). In Grand Theft Auto IV, while San Andreas does not make a physical appearance, the State's presence is referenced to on several occasions on in-game TV Shows, Radio Stations and on the Internet, which, as well as confirming the presence of Los Santos within the HD Universe, the 3D Universe cities of San Fierro and Las Venturas are also confirmed as existing.
