The Vapid Scrap Truck is, as implied, a scrap and salvage-carrying vehicle featured in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online.

Grand Theft Auto V

The Scrap Truck's design is derived from the Yankee featured in Grand Theft Auto IV, with an identical chassis and cab design, but with a frame that passes over its Vapid badge. It has a large truck bed, in which various salvaged machines and assorted appliances can be found. The truck bed is surrounded by wooden barriers, except for the right side of the rear end, which is open for access. The entire body of the vehicle is rusty in condition and weathered. The Scrap Truck is operated by Rogers Salvage and Scrap.

The truck's main cab and chassis design is based on a Ford Aeromax and on an International Harvester S-Series.

Grand Theft Auto V

The Scrap Truck's performance is similar to the Towtruck's, being a generally average performing truck considering its weight, size and purpose. The Scrap Truck has slightly better acceleration than the Towtruck, thanks to reduced weight. The truck has bad cornering due to a small turning radius, and its braking time suffers due to bad rear wheel drum brakes and weight on the bed.

The vehicle is powered by a large twin-cam 4 cylinder engine, fitted with a large turbocharger to the left of the engine bay. The engine is laid longitudinally, in a front engine, rear wheel drive configuration and coupled to a 5-speed gearbox. The engine sound seems to be shared with most light trucks and its Towtruck equivalent.

  • None of the wheels appears to be connected to the vehicle's main body. Also, the driveshaft is modelled with only one differential, possibly floating under the truck chassis.
  • Players in GTA Online can ride on the bed of the Scrap Truck and not risk falling off at high speeds, unless if in a jump or a rollover. The same can be done with the Tipper and in the dump bed of the Rubble.
