Earnest Kelly: “You planning on selling the old machinery, breaking it down?”
Tommy Vercetti: “I'm thinking we might print something - a newspaper, a magazine...”
Earnest Kelly: “Oh, crap, sonny, low grade crap. I've always fancied printing money. It ain't too hard. You know, I've been doing it on a small scale for years.”
Tommy Vercetti: “Really?”
Earnest Kelly: “Sure. But we'd need some good quality plates. Of course! There's a counterfeiting syndicate already operating in Florida.”
Tommy Vercetti: “A syndicate?”
Earnest Kelly: “Yeah. Just rumors is all I've heard.”
Earnest Kelly tells Tommy Vercetti about a money counterfeiting syndicate operating in the state.

Spilling the Beans is a mission in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City given to protagonist Tommy Vercetti by Print Works operator Earnest Kelly from the Print Works in Little Havana, Vice City.

Mission[]

After buying the Print Works, Tommy Vercetti meets Earnest Kelly, the former owner. Tommy explains that his father used to work in a print works and Tommy cleaned the rollers with him as a child. Tommy intends to keep the Print Works open, and Earnest suggests that printing money is the profitable thing to do. He heard rumors of a money counterfeiting syndicate operating in the state but does not know anything more.

Knowing a man who is "good with rumors", Tommy heads to the Malibu Club to meet Kent Paul. After a slight scuffle, Paul tells Tommy that the boss of a shipping company at Viceport knows about the syndicate. Tommy heads down to Viceport and gets into a gun fight with a gang guarding the ship. After acquiring the information he needs from the boss, he heads back to the Print Works.

Mission Objectives[]

In order to complete the mission the player must:

  • Go and meet Kent Paul at the Malibu Club!
  • Go to the Chartered Libertine Lines boat at the docks.
  • The Shipping Officer will have the information that is required.
  • Get the information back to the Print Works!

Transcript[]

Transcript
Tommy Vercetti looks around the Print Works he purchased, and comes across one of the employees, Earnest Kelly.
Kelly: Mr. Vercetti? Hey. You bought the old print works?
Tommy: Yeah, my old man used to work on these. I used to spend the evenings with him, cleaning the rollers... I was going to follow him in his trade, but...I lived a different life.
Kelly: You planning on selling the old machinery, breaking it down?
Tommy: I'm thinking we might print something - a newspaper, a magazine...
Kelly: Oh, crap, sonny, low grade crap. I've always fancied printing money. It ain't too hard. You know, I've been doing it on a small scale for years.
Tommy: Really?
Kelly: Sure. But we'd need some good quality plates. Of course! There's a counterfeiting syndicate already operating in Florida.
Tommy: A syndicate?
Kelly: Yeah. Just rumors is all I've heard.
Tommy: I know a man who's good with rumors.
Tommy leaves the Print Works and heads to the Malibu Club, either by driving there or taking a $9 fare via a Kaufman Cab. Either way, he gets to the club to find Kent Paul, who's sitting at the bar next to a woman.
Paul: Look at the arse on that!
As Tommy walks up to the bar, the woman walks away from Paul, offended.
Paul: Awright, girl, it's your loss, mate, innit! Awright, me ol'china, how's it hangin'?
Tommy: What do you know about counterfeiting?
Paul: Oh, I'm fine, Paul, how 'bout you?
Tommy: Come 'ere!
Tommy grabs Paul and presses him against the bar.
Paul: Awright, awright, awright! You're obviously a busy man. All I know about dodgy readys is the Triads supply the plates. (grunts in pain) They've got a shipping company down the docks, the boss man would know when the plates are coming in next!
Tommy lets go of Paul after hearing about the counterfeit plates.
Tommy: Thanks, Paul.
Paul: What's the matter with you, you maniac?! Get me another drink, lively!
Tommy leaves the club and goes to a large ship belonging to Chartered Libertine Lines in Viceport, takes care of the guards aboard it and gets to the shipping captain within the ship's cabin.
Shipping Officer
(Voice only):
Who are you? Oooof, aaiieee, not the face, not the face! Oh, I talk, I talk!
After interrogating the captain, Tommy leaves the ship's cabin, and the ship's alarm starts ringing. Tommy makes his way back to the Print Works while being chased by the VCPD.

Post-Mission Phone Call[]

Sonny Forelli: Tommy.

Tommy Vercetti: Sonny.

Sonny Forelli: Obviously you are suffering from hearing problems, so I'll try again. WHERE'S THE GODDAMNED MONEY, WHERE'S THE GODDAMNED STUFF, AND WHERE'S MY CUT OF YOUR NEW ACTION?! You are making an idiot out of me, Tommy, and I'm not laughing yet.

Trivia[]

  • The mission is the only known one in GTA Vice City that incorporates a taxi ride, which is only offered to the player to reach the Malibu Club (and not Viceport). The spawned taxicab is always a Kaufman Cab and the cost of the fare to the club is fixed at $9.
    • Even if the player already owns Kaufman Cabs, they will still have to pay for the fare.
  • The song that can be heard playing in the background during the Malibu Club cutscene is "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson. The song is also featured on the in-game radio station Flash FM, but doesn't play inside the club in regular gameplay. In the 10th anniversary version for the game and The Definitive Edition, this was replaced by "Obsession" by Animotion, which can be heard on the in-game radio station Wave 103.
    • While "Billie Jean" was removed from the in-game radio in the retired PS4 version, it can still be heard in the club.
