I think that there's a wreck of this vehicle just slightly north of the Sandy Shores Hanger, at the end of the dirt road that splits and goes close to the hanger, right next to the front half of a wrecked bus. Actually, I'm like 90% sure... but can someone confirm please? Thanks. I. C. Weiner (talk) 13:41, June 11, 2014 (UTC)
It's definitely a 4-cyl engine. If you check the engine bay picture between the roll bars in the top right is the distributor, which has four spark plug wires coming off of it. Also, check the bottom of the carburetors (oblong hexagons on either side of the engine bay), they have two pipes coming out of each, one for each cylinder.
As an aside, the two pipes per carb would also mean it's specifically based off of a VW 1600 DP with an aftermarket dual-carb setup or theoretically a Porsche 356 engine, although the VW engine is the much more likely contender.
- Yeah. It took me a while to make this certain, but it was quite a while back now that I had finally identified it, and put the trivia on the engine inspiration on the Dune Buggy article's trivia section....months later I still haven't updated every page regarding it. Trust me to forget lol. I'll get on it soon. Cheers. Monk Talk 06:17, June 21, 2016 (UTC)
