The Monoglobe, also referred to as the Dukes Monoglobe, is a landmark appearing in Grand Theft Auto IV, Episodes from Liberty City and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.
Description
It is located in the borough of Dukes in Meadows Park, just east of Savannah Avenue in Liberty City.
It is based on the Unisphere sculpture in Queens' Flushing Meadows Park in New York City.
It was built for the Liberty City World's Fair and was not taken down, a reference to the Unisphere, which was built for the same reason.
Events of The Ballad of Gay Tony
The Monoglobe makes an appearance in the The Ballad of Gay Tony campaign, at the end of the mission Departure Time. Gay Tony is waiting for Luis near the globe. During their conversation, Tony mentions that he used to play near the Monoglobe when he was young.
Events of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
In 2009, Huang Lee destroys the Monoglobe while posing as Lester Leroc, with the intention of eliminating members of The Lost MC hanging around the nearby Meadows Park Museum, simply for showing off to the Angels of Death and make Lester pass their initiation so he can investigate a possible informant within the biker gang selling out the Triads to the FIB. The Monoglobe spun off of its stand and crashes into the museum, partially destroying it.
After the mission is completed, the museum is seen being repaired and the Monoglobe is nowhere to be found in the park for the rest of the game.
